2015 Azimut 77S Yacht Review

Azimut 77S ReviewAzimut’s new 77s is really one of a kind. It’s designed for the captain that knows what they want, and who isn’t afraid of something new. The 77s has deep-seated window designs and a snubbed stem, which hasn’t been in previous designs. It almost looks as though it should be in the military fleet. It is all power. On low-drag computerized IPS drives designed by Volvo, there are three six cylinder nine hundred horse power diesels. In addition to all of its highly powerful functions and stern outer appearance, the 77s is alternatively luxurious on the inside and appeals for those that want ultimate comfort with a great amount of space to make yourself comfortable in.

Accommodations:

The hull of the 77s is a very slender, sporty, version that has a twenty degree deadrise amid ships. But even with this, it is a 4 cabin and 4 head ship with additional accommodations for the crew. The master suite is extremely comfortable as it takes up a large area for maximum relaxation. The two berth cabins for guests and the VIP are a little less roomy, although they are still well proportioned with the design. All through the lower deck, there is 6’6 of head room. There is also a pretty good storage area, primarily in the two largest suites.

The galley is down below, which allows for a grand saloon and dining area on the main deck. To maximize seating for guests, there is only one helm seat. The windows are enormous and compliment the overall effect with the cockpit open and the sunroof overhead. On the foredeck, there is a seating area with the bimini. Even though it is squat, the flying bridge makes for a great place for relaxation as well as driving.

With this yacht, Azimut really challenged itself. They wanted to create a spacious, well designed, yacht for extreme luxury while having it appear and run like a sports boat. It isn’t the fastest of the yacht family, but it rides smooth and is large and gorgeous inside and out.

Performance:

Azimut 77SFirst, the equipment. The engineers for Azimut stated that when thinking about fuel intake, three is almost always more cost-effective than two for the same output of power. But realistically, it all comes down to the amount of space required. Primarily, there needed to be a maximum amount of space for rooms and the only way to do this was by fitting three 900s into the hull to get 2700 horsepower from the IPS drive. The 77s shines in regards to both performance and the way she handles. You can cruise away all day long at thirty knots before she tops out at thirty two knots. Steering is graceful and she turns in the blink of an eye. To get the best performance out of this yacht, it seems running it casually is the way to go. It has been said that if you turn off the stabilizers, it runs like a real pedigree.
