Hargrave 94 Yacht Review

Although the Hargrave 94 Adventure US II has often been referred to as the “Granny’s boat”, because its primary owner is typically a grandmother. Hargrave is known for their customization and designs its yachts from the ground up beginning with a blank sheet of paper.

CONSTRUCTION

The 94 allows its client to get fully involved in the design process giving their clients layouts to choose from so that they are able to choose the layout for their finished product.

An example of this customization is one in which the owner’s collection of artwork was showcased on the walls and the cabinet tops and some pieces of the artwork were lighted up. The saloon was built around a well-lit 1920s-era glass etching of a beautiful Parisian woman in the dining area.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The owner of one particular Hargrave 94 wanted to focus on his family so he needed a yacht that would accommodate everyone at one dining table for a nice meal. With this in mind, Hargrave made a stretched sky lounge that would accommodate a table large enough to seat 20 people.

White finishes were used instead of black, to fulfil the owners wishes of giving the skylounge an outdoor feel. There’s a formal dining table in the saloon which can seat 8 people and 10 on the aft deck for those who prefer alfresco.

It has an on-deck suite which is typical to larger boats; the on-deck suite allows you escape to get your needed privacy. A walk-in closet door which was concealed by the night stand, was also created, the owner’s husband called it his bat cave. There is a fascinating VIP suite forward on the lower deck; and extends the geometric art deco all over the yacht. This Hargrave 94 was designed by Shelley DiCondina, owner of yacht interiors by Shelley in Fort Lauderdale.

PERFORMANCE

A pair of 1600-horsepower Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels provides power for the vessel. This horsepower propels the vessel at an amazing speed of almost 23 knots which is remarkable for a granny’s boat; uses 3200 gallons of fuel for 1200 miles at almost 10 knots. This means the boat fuel consumption is at minimized rate and can be used for longer trips. The engine room houses a 20-kilowatt Cummins Onan generator in a sound shield which is easy to reach. Other systems in the engine room are well labelled and arranged for easy identification.
