Construction

MJM models are built by Boston BoatWorks, a company that utilizes prepreg Kevlar and E glass fabrics over a Corecell foam core. This specific Kevlar is infused with epoxy protectant while being manufactured. It makes for a sturdy, lightweight, rigid structure. The laminates are vacuum bagged which helps to create a boat without inconsistencies in the resin-to-fabric ratio.

Engineering assistance is given by Steve Burke, with Burke Design in the creation of the 50Z. He makes sure that all of the structural components comply with ISO requirements. He also ensures that the boat and its systems are certified by CE mark. The 40Z and 50Z are the only vessels in their class to be rated A Ocean by the International Organization for Standardization.

Accomodations

The philosophy behind the accommodations of this boat is that the designers when with what made sense, and the features that people would want.

There is an open bridge deck that has a sheltering option, Isinglass panels that roll down, and a single layer deck. It is on this deck that a companionway leads to the saloon and dinette. To the front, there is a master cabin that is extremely spacious. It even has a reclining chair!
