Ocean Alexander 90 Yacht Review

The OCEAN ALEXANDER 90 handles like a lightweight boat and allows you to maneuver with ease, but it is also a strapping motor yacht that can get the job done. It is tough and it is discreet. You have two options. You can build a heavy boat or you can build a light boat. With all the weight saving tips and tricks, you can save fuel on a faster boat. But the downfall is that it can feel to buoyant. It isn’t ideal to feel like you are at the mercy of the water below you. If you build on the heavier side, you end up with a craft less likely to roll, and you will have slower speeds and higher use of fuel. So it is best to compromise, and that’s what has been done with the 90.

Construction:
The Ocean Alexander 90 weighs in at 209,000 pounds and all efforts were made to reduce weight without compromising strength. The main priority wasn’t to build a light weight ship though; it was to make the guests and owner comfortable while on board. There is a great deal of marble and granite fixtures, and full size appliances. Most of its weight stems from the sound prevention materials that were utilized. There are multiple barriers made of lead and watertight bulkheads. Flexible mounts for equipment also are a part of this weight.
Performance:
The 90 is very comfortable and almost silent while in motion. Decibels are kept at a minimum is all quarters and the 90 as a whole is very spacious. This yacht has two Caterpillar C32 ACET diesel engines that run at 1622 horsepower, which should be loud and cause vibrations. But, you won’t due to the build. You can only hear a small hum that seems like it is in the far distance. Stability is key both when in motion and at rest, and there is an almost instant response when gears are engaged. This is due to the large props and 3:1 ratio in reduction. The wheels almost instantly move the boat in the direction of your choosing. Bow and stern thrusters are included. With big reduction comes slower props so there is less vibration. The designers have thought of everything in regards to strength and comfort.
