Sabre 54 Yacht Review

Sabre 54 Yacht ReviewThe Sabre 54 puts the Volvo Penta IPS950 to good use, and will make you fall in love with it’s beauty and power. This yacht seems to be built with heart, not just the best engineering. The 54 uses a glass cockpit system designed by Volvo Penta, and IPS. Both are controlled by a joystick that is attached to the arm of the Stidd chair in the helm. There’s also a C-Zone distribution system for electricity and automatic Lenco tabs. This boat is very integrated and easy to fall for.

Construction

The hulls and engines that they accommodate have varied on previous models of the Sabre. They sold well, and owners seemed happy with their purchase, but the boat builders wanted more. The 54 utilizes an IPS950 because it generates more horsepower and has a supercharger that is driven by belts and creates a boost when the turbo charger doesn’t. With this model, you get faster plaining, and a quick rise in torque. Idle speed burbling is also mitigated by a different exhaust.

For the craft to use this engine model, the hull had to be completely redesigned. They did away with the inserts completely. There are no more bulkheads in the middle for separation. The engine room is one large open area now. The motors sit farther back and fuel tanks have been interchanged to improve balance.
