Tiara Yachts Q 44 Adventure Yacht Review

Tiara Yachts Q 44 Adventure Yacht Review
The Q44 was a huge success in many regards; it brought fame to the Tiara products, it made outdoor sporting activities possible – paving the way for paddle boarding, kayaking etc. Her sport tenacity makes her good under rough weather. She is graced with electric doors that open widely for a cool breeze to whiz in.

Performance

She was first tested at the Charlevoix, Michigan to Holland, Michigan race. At the start, there was a regaling wind exciting our sail – a 200 nautical mile race. Some 2-3 footers shoved the stern of our Q44, but she sailed gently and controllably with no border. At 24 knots, she was steady, not a cause for quiver to the transverse stability – fuel economy is more efficient at this pace equating to 28 gallons per hour.

She has a double 435hp Volvo Penta IPS 600s engine, everything opposite of the 550hp Cummins QS B6.7s. She has joystick control at the helm chair’s arm which allows for sharp turns, especially on sporting events and at docking. She also has a steering wheel should the captain choose to use that.

Engineering

An orthodox hand fixed water resistant vinyl bottom is what you’ll find in deep waters. The amidship is made of fiberglass strengthened with balsa and the starboard sides are made of thick glass. Thin pieces of lathe wood and foamed fiberglass make stringers. Conjointment of the hull is tacked on six inch centres, glued rigidly, not enough to destabilise stress absorption.

Space

On both sides of the starboard are sitting areas, at the aft, a divider that brings to existence a shower block to port and Marine Sanitation Device to the deck. There is a galley between the divided blocks. Below deck are soothing staterooms. The helm is a comfortable two-seater, for the captain and companion. On the spread of the aft are two cozy sofas, with yet again, a grill and two benches facing the cockpit and waters respectively.
