Sardinia - Yacht Charter

THE YACHTING ELITE ARE WELCOME TO THE BEACHES OF THE MED ISLAND

← All charters

The second largest island of the Mediterranean is Sardinia and its beauty attracts superyachters like a magnet. While its 1,200 mile long coastline and beaches beckon tourists, its inner part is rugged and good for hiking.

The cultural life of Sardinia is extremely active as rich history mixes with modern luxuries from the capital city of Cagliari where its situated on the coast, south of old towns like Alghero in the north. The stone tepee-like edifices on the island, the Nuraghe, belong to the ancient history of mankind and the native Sardinian language of Sardo, along with some other local lingoes, is still spoken there.

Superyacht owners adore the illustrious Costa Smeralda to the northeast of the island. Aga Khan created this eclectic mixture of picturesque fishing villages, beautiful villas, and high-rate boutiques 50 years ago. The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, famous for its superyacht regattas, is the jewel of the Costa Smeralda enclave, especially for the yachting high society. The marina of this illustrious club is in a sheltered harbor and the Club’s seat is at the heart of Costa Smeralda.

The indescribable mix of fantastic restaurants and elite bars is joined with original designer shops on the shore. Epicures are crazy about Sardinian seafood and claim the island’s lobster to be the best in the world. Sardinia has a lot to offer as far as racing in a regatta, dining and shopping on the shore, or splashing in the sea is concerned.

Travel program

Day 1Porto Cervo

The center of activities on Sardinia, Porto Cervo is the place for shopping and getting great finds. The 18-hole Pevero course can be enjoyed by golf lovers, while a spa treatment is waiting for you at one of the five-star gorgeous resorts on the shore. The slow tempo of life on this sunlit island is relaxing.

Day 2 Porto Rotondo

Lying south of Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo is a resort village famous for its private elegant beaches and though it’s attended less often then Porto Cervo, it’s an apt place for anchorites. Piazzetta San Marco is the central square in the heart of the village and is full of boutiques and bars.

Day 3Cala Luna

Cala Luna is extremely beautiful and, if you anchor your yacht off shore, you can see picturesque views of limestone rocks where oleanders bloom. Large caves open to the narrow coastline and sunrays penetrate deep into them. Cala Goloritze, with its rugged rocks towering like sculptures over the transparent water, is close by.

Day 4Cagliari

Founded by the Phoenicians in seventh century B.C., Cagliari has been the capital of Sardinia and its largest town since ancient times. The old town of Il Castello is a fascinating maze of medieval houses the color of sand on hills and the archeology museum houses a collection of 4,000 year old defensive edifices, called Nuraghy. The cool shady arcades of the main shopping street on the island Via Roma are sure to impress you before you return to the yacht for a drink and dinner on board.

Day 5Sardinia’s southwest coast

Coves and hamlets meet on the coastline from the southernmost points to midway up the west coast of Sardinia. The islands of Sant’Antioco and San Pietro will be passed where the rural landscape is rugged, the sea is deep, and the rocks are high. You’ll get exquisite services at Forte Village Le Dune, including its Acquaforte Thalasso Spa along with bowling, go-karting, and a disco for family entertainment.

Day 6Alghero

Located in the northwest, Alghero is a city with a rich past when Catalan predominates. There are colorful churches, balconies of wrought iron, and cobblestone streets with both Italian and Catalan names in the old town. The stalagmites and stalactites of Grotte di Nettuno (the Cave of Neptune) are sure to leave a deep impression with you. If you visit a vineyard, take a bottle or two of wine to bring back to the yacht for dinner.

Day 7La Maddalena

La Maddalena island, at the northern end of Sardinia, has been a national park since 1996 and is surrounded by sandy rock beaches and warm crystal clear water. The archipelago includes seven islands: Spargi, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Razzoli, Budelli, and La Maddalena – which hosts the largest town and is one of the only inhabited ones. You’ll blissfully enjoy the nature of the previous six islands before you cruise back to the mainland at night and depart at dawn.
