OVERVIEW

The Altima 55, is designed for the serious cruisers who do not want to be limited by displacement speeds of 7 or 8 knots, but who also do not need to go 30 knots. She is designed to cruise comfortably at 14-15 knots with minimum horsepower in a planing motoryacht that is heavy enough to be comfortable in all but the worst conditions. She is the Perfect size for an owner/operator who is looking for a practical long range cruising yacht in the $2.150 million VALUE range with a $500,000 budget!!

She has features like an on deck day head, very large flybridge, three staterooms and a huge flybridge with a wonderfully designed stairway for easy access. 

The engineering and mechanical systems will impress even the most demanding owner and it is set up with the cruising couple in mind.

The “Mission”: The Altima 55 is a boat that can be easily handled by a couple, yet is large enough to comfortably accommodate two couples plus one additional in three staterooms for an extended cruise. She can cruise at 14 knots all day long, as well as travel at 8-knot displacement speeds, powered with twin engines under 1100 HP.

That means she is fast enough to keep up with the smaller express cruisers on the annual yacht club cruise; important for boaters who will use their boat locally, cruising with friends for part of the season, before taking off on one long voyage alone. One of the missions of every large motoryacht is "entertaining." 

Distinguishing Features: A REFINED raised pilothouse concept, the Altima 55 is built in China by the veteran and respected Taiwanese boat builder Charles Chang (who formerly owned HiStar) are important to the bloodlines of this particular boat.

Also, note that the A/C is wafting over the top of the double molding on the overhead -- no ugly vents here. Lastly, she features an electric appliance garage, a great use of space.

This Altima 55’s layout guest cabin has a desk, a bench sofa and a Pullman. She also has his and-hers chairs at helm station on the flying bridge. The galley is immediately abaft the helm and on the same level of the Altima 55.

Displacement-Speed Cruising are ideal for long comfortable cruises! Squeezing a Day Head on the deck of a 55' motoryacht is a neat trick, but Altima has done it -- look abaft the lounge seat in the saloon.

Main Deck: The layout of the Altima 55 on the main deck is like virtually every other pilothouse motoryacht built from 40’ to 80’ (12.12 m to 24.38 m): the salon is abaft the galley which is abaft the raised pilothouse. But there are three distinct features that make this layout a little different-- First, it has a day head in the salon. Second, it does not have the U-shaped settee that serves as a salon and dining area as on most boats of this type; but rather it is all salon exclusively.

Thirdly, in the pilothouse, rather than putting the bench seat behind the helm with a table, Altima has put it in the form of a dinning/chart table along the port side and adjacent to the helm. The Galley has a stand up, two-door refer/freezer, garbage disposal, electric hide-away appliance garage (to increase counter space), microwave, conventional oven & range… just like home. ]

Comparison With Other Yachts: When we compare the Altima 55 with other motoryachts in class built in the U.S. and in Europe – the popular brand names – we find that the Altima 55 carries a wider beam than all put one of five other yachts we compared. Moreover, all but one of the other motoryachts had far less displacement. That comparison puts the Altima 55 in a very enviable position because The Altima 55 is squarely in the middle of the displacement spectrum -- not at one extreme or the other. Which accounts for her good sea-going nature.

Walkthrough

She has a comfortable aft deck with built in seating. To port, you'll see access to the flybridge. You also have access to the boat with wide sideways. The Engine room is accessed via a hatch in the aft deck.

As you enter the cabin, you have the feeling of space not usually found on a 55' yacht of this style. The elegant interior is finished in a gloss Cherry wood with Burl inlays and decorated beautifully.

The main Deck level has entry into the Salon through the aft stainless steel sliding door.

Forward of the Salon, two steps up are the Galley and Pilothouse. Watertight doors to Starboard and Port lead into the Pilothouse with dining area.

The U shaped Galley on the Pilothouse level features Granite counters, FULL Size Appliances and opens fore and aft, so the cook won't be left out.

Down from the pilothouse are the VIP Stateroom Forward and office/guest stateroom to port.

Head is aft with a separate enclosed shower, a unique feature, typically found in 80' - class yachts.

The flybridge has easy stairs from either the pilot house or the cockpit. This Altima's Fly Bridge also has dual Helm chairs, Flat Screen Monitors, summer kitchen and Settee.

The boat deck handles an 800 pound extension-able crane and can accommodate a 11' Rib.
