Overview

The 2001 49’ Grand Banks Eastbay HETAERA, now For Sale, was delivered to Oxford from New Haven CT On Jul 14 by John Shannahan. It’s a mint condition 2001 49 ft Grand Banks Eastbay. This is a ONE OWNER boat that’s been professionally maintained it top condition. It has Cat 3196 engines with low hours; just a great boat!

The excellent performance was on display as John brought the boat down from New Haven CT to Chesapeake City in one long day. The boat ran flawlessly even though it has seen light use over the past several years because of the owner’s health. The trip through New York City and offshore New Jersey was a pleasure in this solid performer. The ride was smooth offshore. We cruised at a comfortable 17 kts which was easy on the ears and stress free.

Riding past the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline was the thrill of the trip. Our take-out cold seafood platter from The Lobster House in Cape May was a close second. It was enjoyed as we cruised up the Delaware Bay enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Hetaera is one of the original four Eastbay yachts ordered by Oxford Yacht Agency and sold in the early 2000s. These boats had several unique special-order options that made them fast sellers. The interior and exterior finishes are almost like new. It has one of the best interiors of any Eastbay of this vintage.

You can see this boat at our Dickerson Harbor boatyard in Trappe. After a few small updates, we will be moving it around to our Oxford marina until it sells.
