The
Catalina 42 is one of the best-liked cruising boats of all time. It is
well very well appointed with 6'8 headroom in the salon, it can accommodate
most people. The 2 cabin layout allows for a spacious interior and a LOT of
storage, which is what every cruiser desires. Nirvanau has a deep
draft (6'8") which, along with the classic mainsail, makes for
outstanding performance. Wide side decks, a large, deep cockpit with all
lines running aft, a walk-through transom make it easy and safe to move around the
boat and comfortable when at anchor.
Nirvanau
has done many miles of passagemaking under three ownerships. The current owners
are the third owners and sailed largely in the North East during the summer,
but have done 2 trips to the Bahamas in 2013/14 and 2018/19. The boat is
clean and tidy and ready for the next adventure.

This
boat is really ready to take you to Nirvanau!
The
wide companionway gives access to the light and spacious interior. There
is 6'8 headroom through most of the boat. The aft cabin is to starboard,
it has extensive storage down the hull side and a double berth. The aft head
just forward of the cabin entry and has a separate shower stall and
corian-style counters.
To
port is the large L-shaped galley which extends under the cockpit floor. There
is 'tons' of storage aft and outboard (see photos), access to the engine
amidships. The fridge and stove are against the hull with double S/S sink
in the counter that runs athwartships. Countertops are corion.
The
Salon consists of a dinette to port, with C-shaped settee which wraps around a
large table that can be lowered to form a double berth. To starboard is a
curved settee with the electrical panel behind it. At the forward end is the
nav station which has a chair that swings out or which can tuck under the chart
table.
The door to the forward cabin is offset to starboard. A pullman, double
berth is to port with expansive storage and a seating area to starboard.
The forward head has head and basin with a separate shower area forward.
A hatch in the forward bulkhead of the shower gives access to the anchor
locker, a storage area and the base of the anchor washdown pump.
