Overview

Grand Adventure is a 2010 Grand Banks Heritage EU 47 (Hull #47-0086 - GB made 101 of them, not all of them Heritage) that has had extensive upgrades since the current owners purchased her in July 2018. They purposefully and thoughtfully outfitted her for going to Alaska in comfort, safety, and with ease. After having accomplished this dream, they are upgrading to another Grand Banks, having proven themselves on this fantastic Heritage EU 47.

Featuring twin 500 HP Cummins engines with just around 950 hours, this Grand Banks cruises anywhere from 9 to 18 knots with ease, with the capacity to reach 22 knots. Has bow thruster, diesel heating, dehumidifier system, 9kw Onan generator.

Loads of upgrades, including:

  • Naiad Stabilizer fins to limit roll
  • Humphree Interceptors to handle automatic trim and list adjustments
  • Full suite of Garmin electronics at both helms, including chartplotter, radar, VHF, AIS, with two remotes, for Chartplotter and autopilot (added Winter 2018)
  • Lumishore underwater lights
  • 400' of galvanized 3/8" chain and Maxwell chain counter.
  • Any system that needed attention was taken care of at great expense,

This vessel is clean, presents very well, and is ready for your adventures.

Located on Lake Union in Seattle, WA.

About Grand Adventure

Statement from the current owners:

This boat is reliable and has amazing seakeeping ability. After a shakedown cruise in Puget Sound our first summer, we outfitted her to be able to cruise to SE Alaska via the inside passage. Along the way to Alaska, we found we were well equipped to navigate in extremely foggy conditions, admirably handle rough seas (she took 12 foot waves in the Dixon Entrance and did great), fished, crabbed, hiked, and explored in our dinghy. Grand Adventure’s 2 x 500 hp engines and top speed of 22 knots allowed us to comfortably navigate strong currents in narrow channels in B.C. and Alaska, where cruisers might expect to encounter currents up to 6.5 knots, such as when we headed north through Dodd Narrows, B.C. near Nanaimo.

The enclosed flybridge kept us warm and dry during the chilly cruising to Alaska and allows for an extended PNW cruising season – unzips to let in fresh air as needed! Our 2020 plans were disrupted by the pandemic as we were planning on cruising to Haida Gwai via the inside passage, then transiting south around the very challenging west side of Vancouver Island. Instead, we cruised 1,100 nautical miles from the South Sound and in and around the San Juan Islands, the Hood Canal, and through the Ballard Locks to Lake Washington. We appreciated our shallow draft (3’10”) that gave us the confidence to enter shallow bays and inlets such as Hammersly Inlet heading to Shelton, WA, in the South Sound this summer.

Not only is Grand Adventure a highly capable, reliable cruising vessel, she has beautiful, classic lines and lots of room to spread out. As a cruising couple, we found that we had plenty of room for all our supplies with room left over. But we were also able to host 18 members of our yacht club for happy hour while at anchor in the San Juan Islands and everybody had room to relax and be comfortable inside and out.
