Overview

The ICON 100 is pushing the boundaries of yacht design and revolutionising the cruising experience. The Ken Freivokh exterior featuring a flow of the superstructure from the top of the flybridge down to the main deck and her cutaway stern give this yacht an iconic look. The split level interior maximises the usable area and a generous use of large windows creates a seamless inside-outside experience.
An innovative application of new power and propulsion technologies allows for a near silent and much smoother cruising experience. The twin Hydrosta (PM prop 225) electrically driven, azimuthing thrusters are powered by Scania Di 9M generators. This fuel efficient and revolutionary design gives the ICON 100 a unique appeal for the most discerning of super yacht owners.

Mechanical, propulsion and engine room equipment

General

Main entrance to the E.R. is from the aft deck via a starboard sliding cover towards lazarette and a watertight door in the bulkhead. Alternative direct access is via a WT hatch under the sun deck stairs in the aft deck. This deck hatch to have an extendable, hinged, right-angled, safety rail clipped to the hatch underside and deployed when open. A lifting strong point is required under these stairs to facilitate easy clip-on hoisting of equipment. Sound insulation on hull, bulkheads and ceiling as far as practical. Engine room sole plates to be of resin sealed marine plywood with Aluminium chequered plates glued on top, subject to the noise and vibration specialist’s approval. Guard plates to be fitted in way of revolving machinery and current carrying parts.

Removable stainless steel grab-rails around engines and pathways. All required to conform to the health and safety regulations as defined by the administration. Joints of pipelines of outside diameter more than 60.3mm, to be made by welded on and bolted flanges. Provision for expansion to made in all pipelines where necessary.
All storage tanks to have electronic senders utilizing a shared comms bus structure (ideally NMEA 2000) for level and alert displays on the ships distributed AMC system.

Main Propulsion

Noise and vibration containment is paramount to the installation. The generators are to be mounted on flexible mounts and enclosed with maximum, best practice, acoustic insulation. As they are both mounted next to the port and starboard sides of the ER, the hull will be part of the enclosure and shall be treated as directed by the noise and vibration consultant. Floor to ceiling removable acoustic paneling is envisaged to isolate the generators from the centre space of the ER.
2 x SCANIA DI 9M engines; rated 269kW @ 1800 rpm
2 x Hydrosta (PM prop 225) thrusters, electruically driven. Both units can be azimuthed, using steering units, to provide directional control to the yacht.
1 x 50 kW Hydrosta bow thruster
Two-fin cruise and zero speed stabilization system
