Overview

The Island Packet 38 was the first Island Packet model to feature two head compartments, setting the standard for all subsequent Island Packets by combining enhanced creature comforts with Island Packet's traditional seakeeping capabilities.  This yacht has recently been updated and used only sparingly in recent years, and is a great opportunity to purchase a yacht capable of extensive coastal or long distance cruising, fully found and, to boot, a wonderful live aboard.

LOLA has new topsides paint, new bottom paint, new rigging, sails, windlass, water heater, stove/oven and dinghy davits.

Overview

TOPSIDES/HULL

Topsides, the Island Packet 38 features large unobstructed deck and cabin top surfaces. Safe and secure deck work is ensured with raised bulwarks, premium course diamond nonskid, full length cabin top hand rails, welded double bow and stern rails and double lifelines. The deck is trimmed with a wide teak cap rail and a stainless steel striker all around, with teak cockpit coamings and detail trim. All nonskid surfaces are molded in contrasting tan. The roomy cockpit features contoured cockpit seats with deep coaming backrests, a comfortable helmsman's seat, a cavernous locker to starboard, storage tray to port and rack and pinion geared wheel steering for precise feel and utmost reliability. Other details include a fresh water cockpit shower unit, protected engine control panel, folding swim ladder, and lifeline stern and side gates.

The hull is molded in one piece with extra strong triaxial glass, unified with an engineered molded interior grid structure. Deck laminate is cored with advanced Polycel, a tough microsphere and resin matrix that is heat, rot and delamination proof. PolyClad 3 is used on all exterior surfaces backed with a vinylester laminate in the hull, so impervious to osmotic blistering that Island Packet was the first U.S. builder to offer a ten year limited osmotic blister warranty. The deck is attached to the integrally molded hull flange with bolts, lock nuts, and urethane adhesive sealant. All deck hardware is thru-bolted with aluminum back up plates.

The moderate full keel design, unique to Island Packet, combines a contemporary performance hull form with a foil shaped full keel providing the benefits of spirited, powerful performance and seakeeping comparable to deeper fin keel designs while providing the ability to explore shallow coastal waters. The centerboard is particularly helpful when beating to windward.

LOLA has new topside paint in the original Island Packet beige color, enhancing the beauty of this yacht.

 ACCOMMODATIONS

Below deck, the interior features a tri-cabin layout with large forward and aft staterooms, each with private access to an adjoining head compartment with shower, and a spacious central salon. The master stateroom with its private head further forward utilizes virtually the full beam of the yacht to create an exceptionally open, roomy layout. A large double berth offset to starboard, oversized hanging locker plus bureau and chest of drawers and numerous other detailed amenities provide for a gracious lifestyle for extended periods aboard.

The inviting main salon is bright and open. Large settees, a wide sole, wall mounted retractable table, pullout double berth and numerous stowage areas allow a variety of uses including gracious entertaining, dining or a third cabin for extra guests. The aft facing nav station is quickly accessible from the cockpit, allowing easy communication with the helmsperson. Fresh air ventilation is afforded by six Lewmar screened deck hatches, two Dorade vents and thirteen opening ports with screens.

The large wrap-around U-shaped galley is convenient to both cockpit and salon yet out of companionway traffic. Standard equipment includes an LPG range with oven (new in 2018), deep double sinks, heavily insulated 14 cubic foot ice box, deluxe teak dish rack with cutlery drawers, hot and cold pressure water, plus thoughtful details such as stove guard rail with harness attachments and a hideaway trash bin. Excellent engine access is provided through moveable panels on either side of, and behind, the companionway ladder.

Comfortable accommodations for two are provided in the roomy aft stateroom. The wide double berth, dressing seat, bureau and cedar-lined hanging locker, plus private access to the adjoining head compartment with shower provide gracious quarters for crew or guests.

Construction quality, materials and finish are to the highest standard throughout, not solely to create a finely crafted appearance, but also to build in a lifetime of capability and reliability.
