At first sight dockside the sturdy profile of this Passagemaker instantly transports the mind to far away destinations. No other manufacture in the world has been able to gain respect that PAE has built over the years with the Nordhavn Fleet of Passagemakers. Without a doubt this trawler has all the features one expects from the top builder including Portuguese forward deck, high bulwarks, raised pilothouse, bulbous bow, and a displacement hull that is designed for stability and range. The obvious pick for the soul of this boat was a dependable Lugger engine. These work horses are built for uninterrupted power and longevity. A get home wing engine provides hydraulics & engine emergency propulsion.
The 57' is easily boarded from low docks at the convenient side deck gate. Higher sea walls are also easily transversed by the raised Portuguese side deck gate. By water a tender can easily unload crew and groceries at the large transom gate.
The spacious cockpit can be utilized for numerous functions. Whether you are fishing, diving, sightseeing, dinning, or just reading a good book you will feel secure with the high gunwalls and nonskid sole. Some cockpit features include wet bar with sink and storage, aft engine controls, enormous Lazarette storage with freezer and dive tank compressor and a swim platform with dive ladder. The aft flybridge deck along with a removable canvas cockpit awning provides passengers with a haven from the sun rays.
The wide covered side decks provide safe passage while tying up the vessel. The Portuguese deck protect the crew while transiting the bow. The forward deck boasts a huge Maxwell hydraulic windlass which makes handling the sizable ground tackle a breeze. Other deck features include large fender locker, stainless steel hand rails, and electrical receptacles for the ships service.
The fly bridge can be accessed from a staircase in the pilothouse or from the aft deck ladder. The raised bridge helm deck provides captain and passengers a 360 degree unobstructed view of their voyage. A sturdy stainless steel support canvas top shades the crew from the sun's rays. Two pompanette helm chairs and a large L-shaped bench seat with pedestal table is a wonderful place for passengers to take in all the sights. The huge aft bridge deck has ample room for the Caribe tender. A beautiful chrome plated davit easily lunches the tender and can be utilized for any other water craft or land toys.
The salon can be accessed from the cockpit through the sliding aft deck door. Immediately to port is a L-shaped settee with abundant storage below along with a custom built in sub woofer for the Bose surround sound stereo system. A high-low pedestal table expands for dining. Across to starboard is a leather lounge chair with ottoman. There are numerous cabinets along with a custom Liquor cabinet and built in flat screen TV. Just forward of the settee is the entertainment cabinet with AV equipment and a 2nd liquor cabinet. The salon sole is Teak & Holly with a contoured berber carpet protecting it. The overhead has convenient handrails to insure sure footing underway.
The galley just forward of the Salon has an extra large Corian countertop that acts as an additional bar seating area complete with stainless steel pedestal bar stools. The U-shaped galley is highlighted by GE profile appliances abundant storage and a huge sub zero fridge and freezer. Across from the galley to starboard is an enclosed washer and dryer and a companion way with quick access to the side dock or engine room. Many of the cabinets in the salon and galley have custom storage organizers to keep everything in its place while underway. Other features include large windows allowing lots of natural light. Horizontal window blinds, and a light vinyl overhead with hand rails for safe walking underway. Teak cabinets throughout give a warm nautical feel.
Five steps up forward of the salon and galley is the raised pilothouse. A full array of controls, electronics, and a distribution panels is always at an arms reach from the captain Stidd helm chair. Whether it be cold temperatures or rain the pilothouse will make for a warm refuge. All the way forward is the central helm area with large tempered windows. Port and starboard wing doors give quick access to the side decks. Behind the helm is a leather L-shaped settee with a fixed pedestal table finished with a high gloss top. The overhead is a light vinyl and also has a Bomar hatch for ventilation. Other features include large aft book case, teak cabinets throughout and recessed lighting.
From the pilothouse forward 10 steps down brings you to the forward companionway. Facing midship aft you will see the beam to beam master stateroom with island queen berth. The vessel owner chose to have Nordhavn enlarge the master stateroom by closing away with the 3rd stateroom greatly enhancing storage and functionality. There are numerous cabinets and draws under the berth and to the port and starboard. Light wall covering and four port holes provide abundant light. There is a desk with swing out pedestal chair to starboard. Additional appointments include large mirrors, book cases, recessed lighting, reading lights, and contoured carpet over the Teak & Holly sole.
An en-suite bathroom includes separate shower stall, Vac-U-Flush head contoured Corian vanity with sink and lots of storage.
The VIP stateroom is all the way forward and has an island queen berth. There is a large deck hatch and numerous cabinets and lockers with teak coverings. The VIP also boasts a port hole, recessed lighting, reading lights, and under berth access to a huge storage area and the bulbous bow.
The day head can be accessed from the forward companionway or from a separate door in the VIP stateroom. The day head has a Vac-U-Flush system, separate shower stall, sink, mirrored cabinet, and ventilation.
The stand up engine room is accessed from the starboard midship companionway or aft from the Lazarette. The dependable Lugger is easily serviced with all sides accessible. A work bench to port with a stainless steel top, vice, and sink make a great place for projects. The clearly labeled fuel gallery is just below the bench. The forward bulkhead has Fuel Filtration and tank site tubes. A rubberized Pirelli flooring provides sure footing. Aft of the main to port are the two Northern Lights Generators and across is the wing engine. A central sea chest allows quick monitoring of the raw water for all systems.
