Overview

Built in New Jersey, Novel Idea is a Silverton 41 Convertible.  She is a versatile flybridge cruiser with a roomy cockpit, the look of an offshore fishing boat, and a good turn of speed with upgraded twin diesel Caterpillar engines.

The cockpit of Novel Idea has many features which make her ready for a day of fishing, including: an in-sole fish box, a bait station and sink, a fresh and raw water wash down, rod holders in the coamings, tackle storage, and a transom door to the swim platform. The flybridge has lounge seating forward of the helm. This upgraded model was outfitted with optional 425hp Cat diesels which allow Novel Idea to cruise at 24-25 knots.

The interior of Novel Idea features two staterooms and a single head. The galley and dinette are forward, three steps down from the open salon. The dinette is able to convert to a berth. An island berth is located in the master stateroom, while the guest stateroom is fitted with over/under berths.

The current owner has been living aboard, but now it is time for Novel Idea to enter a new chapter, and be part of the life story of her next owner.

The current owner has been living aboard, but now it is time for Novel Idea to enter a new chapter, and be part of the life story of her next owner.

1998 SILVERTON 41 CONVERTIBLE HULL, COCKPIT, DECK

The Silverton 41 Convertible has a solid, hand-laid fiberglass hull, white gel-coat topsides, black bottom paint, and stainless steel bow and grab rails. The flybridge is accessed by a port side ladder from the cockpit, and has a three-sided Stamoid enclosure and bimini top, with Eisenglass panels. There are two "Silverton Yachts" helm seats, with guest seating forward of the helm station.  The flybridge of Novel Idea also has a windshield, console controls, a lockable VHF overhead locker, and electronics mounted in the helm station console.  There are also spreader lights, and six rocket-launcher rod holders.

The ground tackle on the bow of Novel Idea includes: a Lewmar Pro-Series electric anchor windlass, and a Delta plow anchor with 20' of galvanized chain and 500' of nylon rode.

There is a tender crane on the foredeck.

1998 SILVERTON 41 CONVERTIBLE ACCOMMODATIONS

Salon

The salon on Novel Idea is entered through a curtained sliding glass door. The large side windows, with neutral colored blinds, provide ample natural light, and give the entire salon a large and open feeling.  The grey carpeting throughout was installed in 2018.  There are two freestanding neutral colored fabric electric recliners to starboard, with a wood and Corian table between them. A leatherette neutral colored freestanding barrel chair is to port. The headliner and all upholstered trim are in excellent condition, and the paisley upholstered wall panels give the entire salon an upscale decorator appearance.  There is a built-in U-Line icemaker on the starboard wall.

The portside wall of Novel Idea has a counter top TV, storage cabinets, and the electrical panel access.

There is a smoked glass wall forward to starboard that looks down on the dinette, and a Corian countertop forward to port that overlooks the galley.  The salon features AC/heat controls, a CO2 detector, a fire extinguisher, and a mounted VHF radio.

The engine room is accessed through the carpeted salon floor hatches.

Master Stateroom

Novel Idea features a forward master stateroom with neutral decorator carpeting.  There is ample storage with three cabinets on either side of the queen-sized centerline berth, three under-bed drawers, and a cedar-lined hanging locker to port.  There is also a small shelf and mirror to port, two reading lights, an overhead screened hatch, AC/heat controls, a CO2 detector, access to the anchor locker, a TV wall mount (but no TV), and a mirrored door into the head which makes the master stateroom ensuite.

Guest Stateroom

The guest cabin on Novel Idea is located portside across from the head, has a classic over/under double berth configuration. There are four drawers and a cabinet with shelves for storage.  The neutral decorator carpet matches the carpeting in the Master Stateroom.  Natural lighting is provided by a hatch.

1998 SILVERTON 41 CONVERTIBLE HEAD

The single head on Novel Idea can be accessed from the companionway or the Master Stateroom.  It features a separate stall shower with full enclosure and an overhead hatch, a molded sink and counter, a vanity mirror, a full length mirror on the companionway door, a Dometic electric toilet, a shelf over the toilet and towel bars.  There is storage under the vanity, in a large medicine cabinet and in a cabinet with sliding doors behind the sink.

1998 SILVERTON 41 CONVERTIBLE GALLEY

Novel Idea has a "galley-down" layout, with the galley forward to port of the salon, down three steps.  The counters are neutral colored Corian; the sole looks like wood, but is an easy-care vinyl.  The molded sink has a faucet with a versatile spray hose.  There is a good amount of cabinet and drawer storage, as well as a spice cabinet.

Cooking can be done on the flush-mount Princess electric two burner stove (with a wood cutting board cover), or in the built-in Magic Chef microwave oven.  The refrigerator/freezer is a Norcold, with 12 VDC/110 VAC dual voltages.

1998 SILVERTON 41 CONVERTIBLE DINETTE

The dinette is conveniently located across from the galley, to starboard.  There is ample storage under the bench cushions, or in the cabinet on the starboard side wall.  The table is high-low and can be converted to an additional berth, but no cushions are available.  The neutral colored decorator carpet matches the staterooms.

The large front windows over the galley and dinette provide an abundance of natural light.  There are fishing rod holders mounted in the ceiling.
