History

1937

Her original owner was a Mr William Trimpi who commissioned Mathis Yacht Company to build his last boat for $30,930.00 when he was 77 years old. Her named "My Blue Heaven". Mr Trimpi passed 3 months after taking delivery

1938

A few months later Mrs. Trimpi listed her for sale for $24,000.00 and the State of New Jersey purchased her, and was used by the Dept. of Health for 11 years as "Inspector"

1951-1961

Her first major re-fit was done by owner Mr. James Hill, who rechristened the vessel to her original name "My Blue Heaven". Her original engines were replaced, removed the Portuguese bridge, and added the false stack that you see today. After 10 years of service, "My Blue Heaven" was returned to Trumpy & Sons in Annapolis, Md to be sold.

1961-1993

In 1961 Blue Heaven was purchased by Mills B. Lane. Mr Lane left the boat with the Trumpy yard for a complete refit and is credited with saving this classic boat. He then changed her name to "Flying Lady" after the Rolls Royce hood ornament.

In 1988 after 50 years of service. He made plans to undergo a major renovation where 90% of her hull frames were sistered with new white oak timbers. The new hull was then C-Flexed and fiberglassed, which makes her more sea-worthy today than she ever was

1993-1996

"Flying Lady" was then donated to the Georgia Southern University Foundation. The University held her for 3 years.

1996-1998

"Flying Lady" was again purchased as a private vessel by Bobby Groves and had the honor of being the committee boat for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga.

1998-Present

In 1998, Richard & Donna Reiling purchased "Flying Lady" as private vessel, then brought to the Huckins Yard in Jacksonville, Fl. for a complete refit. Mr Gilbert Norish was commissioned to draw extensive plans the bring "Flying Lady" back to her original Trumpy design. The refit was completed with 27,000 labor hours and at a cost of $1,000,000
