JENSEN MARINE

JENSEN MARINE - the legend of regattas

JENSEN MARINE was the manufacturer focused on the production of the fiberglass sailing ships during the period from 1960 to 1980. The company's headquarters were located in Costa Mesa, California in 1957. In those years the first ships were built, the mass production of sailing boats started. The brand was out of production for more than three decades ago, but the existing fleet is still active in racing and cruising runs.

This company has an interesting history. Founded by Jack Jensen, it first called JENSEN MARINE, and then - Cal Yachts. It is more commonly known by the last name. This shipyard was a pioneer in the construction of fiberglass boats. Nearly 18,000 boats were built under the tradename Cal. There were many different models, but perhaps the most famous was Cal 40. Being the first ultralight ocean racers, Cal 40 was inspired by George Griffith - this is the first athlete who sketched a drawing of the new yacht on a napkin. It was finalized and released by the company.

Cal 34 is also famous. This boat has repeatedly won various races and competitions, always getting the first place. The developer of this model has become Bill Lapworth. At first he planned to produce a vessel for coastal waters with the cruise performance. But in the end it became a sports boat. The legends have also been Cal 27 and Cal 20.

These vessels were ahead of their time and have earned numerous awards. Now the boats can be bought at the brokers - some models of the shipyard are on sale. They are in excellent condition and will be a real gift for connoisseurs.
