OYSTER MARINE LTD - the British shipbuilder

OYSTER MARINE LTD is a British manufacturer of sailing yachts. The company was founded in Ipswich in 1973. The founder of the shipyard was Richard Matthews. In 1978 Oyster Marine introduced a 46-foot racing cruiser developed by Kim Holman & Donald Pye. This vessel got the "deck saloon" structure - a feature that has since become the hallmark of the company. In 1997, they implemented the project of a 53-foot boat according to the drawings by Rob Humphreys, and in 2002 they built the yacht with a length of 62 feet according to the design by Robert Humphreys.

The company was acquired by Balmoral Capital in 2008. Oyster Marine is currently building the sailboats with the length of 47-118 feet, all of them are designed by Robert Humphreys, and the yachts with the length of 100-125 feet, designed by Edward George Dubois. The yacht construction is carried out at RMK Marine in Turkey - it is convenient for the shipbuilding company.

The shipyard twice received Queen's Award for Enterprise, it was presented in the US Building the Brand series in 2011. In 2012, Oyster 625 was named the Luxury Cruiser of the Year in Dџsseldorf at the Boatshow. Oyster 100-01 was provided with the Judge's Commendation for yachts with the length of less than 40 meters at the World Superyacht Awards in Istanbul.

The main part of the company's boats are the cruising ketches. The sailboats are made of fiberglass and other innovative materials. The vessels are equipped with the engines from the trusted brands. During the coming years, the manufacturer may release new models of sailing ships, built by the famous architect.
