Detailed Description
General specifications
Commanding at 105’-0” LOA with a 24’-6” beam and a 5’-10” draft, this yacht rides on a highly efficient round-bilge, bulbous-bow hull and carries an approximate displacement of 165 LT. Purposeful range and autonomy come from robust tankage, including 6,000 gallons of fuel, 1,800 gallons of fresh water, 575 gallons of grey water, 575 gallons of black water, and 100 gallons dedicated to dirty and lube oil. Naval architecture and design are by Overing Yacht Designs, with sound engineering by Sundown Inc., while the interior design is to be determined.
Hull design
Not all hulls are created equal. Too often, generic hull forms are recycled rather than sculpted to the precise mission of each vessel, a compromise driven by time pressures, R&D costs, and limited experience. We optimize every hull for its intended purpose; from pure displacement to planing, and from hard chine to round bilge, our design library spans highly refined, proven forms developed over the past twenty years.
The All Ocean Overing Explorers series is built on our Fast Displacement (FD) hull. These highly evolved, bulbous-bow, round-bilge, full-displacement forms readily exceed a speed/length ratio (SLR) of 1.6, compared with a more common 1.3, yet at conventional displacement speeds they are genuine fuel misers. Now in their third generation and benefiting from over a decade of continual refinement, they are truly world-class, go-anywhere vessels with extraordinary seakeeping and comfort.

Onboard utilities are equally comprehensive, with two air compressors, two Teel freshwater pressure sets, two 1,200 gal/day water makers, and three hot water heaters. Climate and power management are refined by a Marine Air or Aqua Air AC/heat system, a Titan or Atlas energy system, dedicated battery chargers, an engine room blower system, and air conditioning for the engine room and machinery spaces.

Captain's comments on operating an Overing Design Explorer
I have been in command of Boundless, an Overing Design 98' Explorer, for seven months, following two major rebuilds on a 38m Vitters expedition yacht and a classic 40m Feadship. With a hull design and draft akin to my previous commands, I was eager to see her perform offshore, and for her length, design, and current market value I have found no comparison to her seaworthiness, comfort, stability, and offshore efficiency from any yard today. After an extraordinary summer cruising the New England area, as I prepared to reposition south, I had no hesitation about running her in following force 7 and occasional force 8 conditions for thirty hours. She was a pleasure to operate in such weather, answering two-story seas and rolling white water with a completely silent, stable, and smooth performance. I would sail this yacht anywhere worldwide with confidence.
