With a commanding LOA of 105’ 0”, a broad 24’ 6” beam, and a confident 5’ 10” draft, this explorer carries a highly efficient round-bilge, bulbous-bow hull that translates refined naval architecture into real-world performance and comfort. Her approximate displacement is 165 long tons, balanced by generous tankage for genuine range: 6,000 gallons of fuel, 1,800 gallons of fresh water, 575 gallons of grey water, 575 gallons of black water, and 100 gallons dedicated to dirty/lube oil. Hull design

Time, R&D, and deep experience converge here: for more than two decades we have built a vast library of refined, proven forms—displacement to planing, hard chine to round bilge—so every vessel is optimized for its intended purpose. Our All Ocean Overing Explorers ride on our Fast Displacement (FD) platform: a highly evolved bulbous-bow, round-bilge, full-displacement hull that comfortably exceeds a speed/length ratio of 1.6 compared with the more common 1.3 SLR. At conventional displacement speeds it is a true fuel miser, and in its third generation—tempered by over a decade of incremental refinements—it delivers world-class, go-anywhere capability with extraordinary seakeeping and comfort.

Boat deck

Purpose-built for adventure, the boat deck is outfitted with chocks for owner-furnished tenders measuring 24’ and 14.5’, handled with confidence by one 4,000 lb Marquipt hydraulic crane. A hot tub crowns the space, elevating long-range capability with a touch of on-deck indulgence.

Fly bridge

The flybridge is a private resort at sea, distinguished by a custom canopy and mast, and a convivial bar with six stools, a refrigerator/freezer, and a stainless grill. Custom seating with plush cushions and a buffet invite lingering afternoons, while a full helm station means the best view on board is also the most capable.

Engine room and major equipment

Engineering pedigree drives confidence offshore. Propulsion comes from two Cat C18 main engines rated at 715 hp each (Max. Continuous C Rating), mated to Twin Disc 5114 DC gears with Quick Shift, with Kobelt hydraulic steering and Kobelt single-lever controls at your fingertips. A custom waterdrop exhaust system with Inconel jacket keeps the machinery space cool and quiet. Ship’s power is assured by two 55 kW Northern Lights generators, supported by battery chargers and a Titan or Atlas energy system. Fuel management is professional-grade thanks to Racor fuel/water filters, an Alpha Laval fuel centrifuge, and a dedicated fuel transfer system.

Robust copper/nickel bilge and fire-fighting systems, a fixed fire extinguishing system, and an oily bilge water separator underpin safety, while TRACSTAR stabilizers (stabilization at rest) and a TRAC Integrated Hydraulic Systems bow thruster elevate comfort and control. The ship’s services include two air compressors; two Teel freshwater pressure sets; two 1,200 gal/day water makers; and three hot water heaters. Climate is managed by a Marine Air or Aqua Air air‑conditioning and heating system, with an engine room blower system plus air conditioning for the engine room and machinery spaces.

On deck, hardware is all 316L stainless steel, with two Maxwell 6000 anchor windlasses and two Maxwell 4000 warping capstans. A stainless anchor pocket holds two 180 kg HHP anchors served by 300 ft of 5/8" galvanized stud‑link chain with stainless‑steel lead chain. Outfitting includes PCM or equal doors and windows, Coast Guard approved safety equipment, and an Opac Mare hydraulic passerelle—an equipment suite befitting serious passagemaking.

Construction

Built for strength and longevity, the yacht features a solid laminate vinylester hull and an Airex core vinylester superstructure, all finished in a high‑quality Awlgrip system. Captain's comments on operating a Overing design explorer

I have been in command of “Boundless,” an Overing Design 98' Explorer, for seven months, following two major rebuilds on a 38 m Vitters expedition yacht and a classic 40 m Feadship. “Boundless” shares a similar hull design and draft with my previous commands, and I was eager to see her offshore. For her length, design, and current market value, I have found no equal in seaworthiness, comfort, stability, and offshore efficiency from any yard today. After an extraordinary summer cruising New England, as I prepared to reposition south, I had no hesitation running her in following Force 7 and occasional Force 8 conditions for thirty hours. She was lovely to operate in such weather and responded beautifully to the two‑story seas and rolling white water outside with a completely silent, stable, and smooth performance. I would sail this yacht anywhere in the world with confidence.
