1962 Chris-Craft Constellation

This stunning 1962 Chris-Craft Constellation was first delivered on November 1, 1962, to Beaudoin Yacht Harbor in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Initially utilized as a sales model for two years, it was later acquired by a couple from Green Bay, who cherished it in Sturgeon Bay. In 1989, it found a new owner in Marshall Paulson, who intended to restore this classic beauty but, unfortunately, never had the opportunity. The yacht was kept in indoor storage until 2008, when one of our skilled shipwrights took it on as a personal project.

This elegant vessel is powered by its original Chris-Craft 430 (Lincoln) 275 hp V-8 engines. The port engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2020, with the starboard engine having 1230 hours, featuring Paragon transmissions with a 2 to 1 reduction.

Restoration Highlights:

Summer 2008 and 2009: The topsides were meticulously stripped to bare wood, with 16 planks replaced and repainted in the original colors, showcasing a beautiful blue sheer strake.

Winter 2008 to 2009: The interior and helm were completely disassembled, stripped, stained, and varnished to restore their former glory.

Fall 2009: The railings were removed, decks sanded, re-caulked, and treated with three coats of Sikkens. All railings were stripped and repainted, while the covering boards were refinished.

Summer 2010: The interior and helm were reassembled, featuring new windshield frames and reinstalled railings. Struts were removed, new cutlass bearings installed, shafts straightened, and the bottom was painted. New points, rotors, caps, and plug wires were added, along with rebuilt carburetors. The yacht was launched for the first time in 20 years and underwent a successful sea trial.

Summer 2011: All hardware was removed and polished, with new rub rails and stainless J-trim added to the cabin sides. The interior was re-carpeted, a new black water tank installed, and cushions and helm seats were reupholstered.

Winter 2011-2012: The top two transom planks were replaced, and the transom was stripped, stained, and varnished with sixteen coats. New aft deck railings were constructed and installed, along with a refinished fiberglass cabin roof and new vinyl on the cabin top.

2013: A new water system, including hoses, pump, and water heater, was installed, along with two topside planks replaced at the chine.

2014: The 110-volt wiring system was replaced, and a dual bank battery charger was installed.

2015: The icebox was converted to a refrigerator using an Isotherm system, and a custom skirt was fitted around the aft deck rails.

Future Considerations: Our expert evaluation indicates that the original bottom is in excellent condition, although new decks will be needed at some point in the future.
