Overview

Constructed in 1930 by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Corporation, the 130-foot (39.6m) NORTHWIND is a distinguished antique and classic Fantail Pilothouse motor yacht, boasting a remarkable and storied past. Crafted by the renowned designers Cox & Stevens, this steel-hulled masterpiece has led an extraordinary existence.

During World War II, NORTHWIND was commandeered to patrol the River Thames in London, safeguarding the iconic Houses of Parliament. This illustrious yacht has welcomed aboard Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Sir Winston Churchill. In 1946, she embarked on a five-year global voyage as part of an MI6 intelligence mission. It was on NORTHWIND in 1961 that former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy first encountered Aristotle Onassis. In more recent times, NORTHWIND spearheaded efforts to address the Exxon Valdez oil spill and starred in the 2024 Netflix series 'Griselda'.

This bespoke yacht offers an unparalleled setting for hosting family and friends. Her expansive top deck has been the venue for numerous elegant gatherings, and her graceful lines are reminiscent of the legendary CHRISTINA O. Her timeless beauty enhances any marina or harbor she graces.

Between 2017 and 2024, NORTHWIND underwent extensive restoration, preserving her charming canoe stern and ensuring she is ready to set sail. Her original interior remains intact, offering immense potential for a sympathetic refit to restore her to her former grandeur. The current traditional interior showcases wood paneling and original flooring, with exquisite craftsmanship evident in every detail.

NORTHWIND accommodates 10 guests across five cabins, all situated on the lower deck, with additional quarters for a crew of 10. She reaches a top speed of 12 knots and cruises comfortably at 10 knots, boasting a trans-Atlantic range of 3,000 nautical miles.

For those seeking to buy a yacht with a rich history and timeless elegance, NORTHWIND is an exceptional opportunity. Explore yacht sales in the current boat location and discover the allure of owning this magnificent vessel.
