Licensed Yacht BrokersYachts for SaleAbout Shestakov Yacht Sales
We’ve been operating under an American brokerage license since 2009, giving us the expertise to handle yacht purchases and sales while registering vessels not only in the U.S. but also under any international flag. Over the decades, we’ve built a strong reputation as a trusted partner in yacht sales, service, and management.
Who Handles the Deals
Andrey Shestakov is the leading broker at Shestakov Yacht Sales. Since 2009, he has overseen international transactions and worked closely with top brokers across Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia.
He manages the entire process: yacht selection, inspection, worldwide delivery, and registration under the desired flag.
Types of Yachts We Work With
We handle transactions with yachts of any level of complexity:
- Motor and sailing yachts, boats — we find the right model to match your budget and goals, taking care of re-registration and paperwork.
- Mega and superyachts — we ensure legal transparency and handle all formalities for these complex assets in compliance with international regulations.
- Expedition yachts (explorer yachts) — we understand the specifics of their operation and arrange sales and registration with long-range cruising and special requirements in mind.
Client Services
Shestakov Yacht Sales supports clients at every stage:
- Legal assistance — purchase and sale transactions, including financing and insurance.
- Yacht management — crew selection and management, berthing arrangements, technical maintenance, accounting, and flag registration.
- Transportation — worldwide yacht delivery.
- Charter — yacht rentals in the Caribbean, the Bahamas, the Mediterranean, and other popular destinations.
Charter Options
We offer three standard charter models:
- Crewed Charter — a yacht with a captain and full crew (starting from 40–50 ft). In addition to the captain, the team often includes a stewardess or a chef, and on larger yachts — extra staff. This turns your yacht into a true floating villa with full service.
- Skippered Charter — rental with a hired captain but no crew. A popular choice for sailing or motor yachts up to 50 ft.
- Bareboat Charter — rental without crew. You take the helm yourself with the proper international certificates (ICC, IYT, RYA) and proven experience. In most European countries (Greece, Croatia, Italy, France, Spain), this format is widely available. However, in Russia, bareboat charters are not allowed by law: the yacht must have a captain with a local license.
What’s Included:
The base price covers yacht rental, insurance, crew (for crewed charters), and standard equipment (bed linens, towels, kitchenware).
Additional Costs:
- APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance): 25–35% deposit covering fuel, berths, food, and entertainment.
- Taxes & VAT: for example, 12% in Greece, 22% in Italy, 0% in the Bahamas.
- Crew tips: it’s customary to leave a tip that’s 10–15% of the charter cost.
Transaction Transparency
Every purchase follows a standard international procedure:
- Signing the contract
- Paying the deposit (10% to an escrow account)
- Survey and sea trial — independent inspection and performance testing
- Client’s decision — confirm the deal, request that deficiencies be fixed, or decline with a deposit refund
We can recommend trusted surveyors, but the final choice is always up to the client.
Warranties & After-Sales Support
New yachts come with the shipyard’s standard warranty covering the hull, equipment, and the electrical system for 1–2 years. Engines and generators have separate manufacturer warranties — typically up to 5 years.
Pre-owned yachts are sold on an “as is, where is” basis, so reliability is ensured only through an independent survey and sea trial. Shestakov Yacht supports the client through this process and assists with subsequent service. However, the legal guarantor is always the shipyard or manufacturer.
Yacht Insurance
We offer comprehensive insurance services:
- Hull & Machinery — hull, engines, and equipment
- P&I (Protection & Indemnity) — owner’s liability to third parties
- Medical and social insurance for crew
- Passenger protection
- Additional coverage for charter, transport, or operations in challenging regions
Documents for Yacht Purchase
The standard document package includes:
- Bill of Sale — purchase agreement / deed of sale
- Certificate of Registry / Title — registration under the chosen flag
- Protocol of Delivery & Acceptance — yacht handover certificate signed by the buyer
- Deletion Certificate — confirmation of deregistration from the previous flag registry (required when changing flag)
Additional documents may include:
- Builder’s Certificate — shipyard certificate (for new yachts)
- Insurance Certificate — proof of insurance
- Tax and duty payment records (VAT, import duty)
- Owner’s manuals and vessel service history
