Overview
“NORTHLAND” is a luxury expedition motor yacht featuring a steel hull with a bulbous bow, crafted in the United States to an exceptional superyacht finish by Burger Boat Company. The original owner and her Captain partnered closely with the shipyard to shape a bespoke build brief, bringing to life a custom project from the studio of Luis de Basto. Homeported in South Florida, her concept prioritized sensible draft for an explorer of this size and a low-maintenance exterior finish, enabling easy operation by a lean crew on extended voyages without compromising elegance or capability.
Since her 2017 debut, the yacht has been kept constantly underway, roaming far afield—including a self-reliant voyage to Norway—making full use of her 4,000+ mile range. Reliable CAT propulsion, ABS-class build quality, and a comprehensive equipment package have underpinned these passages, keeping real-world practicality at the forefront of this bluewater expedition program from planning through execution throughout.
Wide, covered walk‑around side decks include entry doors on both sides—starboard opening to the salon foyer and port serving as a crew access to the galley—and lead forward via steps to a true Portuguese bridge. Removable sea stairs can be fitted to either side at the aft deck boarding gates. Aft access is also provided by a hydraulic passerelle gangway that deploys from the starboard cockpit step. The family‑forward layout offers four staterooms plus crew, highlighted by a bridge‑deck Master suite aft. Two diesel‑powered tenders reside on the forward working deck, keeping the aft area free for a highly functional fishing cockpit space.
Now back at her home berth in Jupiter, Florida, where she will remain during marketing, “NORTHLAND” stands prepared to deliver further world‑class adventures to her next owners with poise.
Detailed Description
Accommodations and interior overview
Designed for serene privacy, the yacht offers four ensuite owner and guest staterooms. The master stateroom, set on the bridge deck aft of the pilothouse, features a king-size bed, amazing window views, and direct access to the bridge afterdeck appointed with a settee, table, and chaise lounge chairs. Three guest staterooms on the lower deck comprise two cabins with walk-around queen beds and one with large twin berths, plus an extra pullman berth, providing accommodations for up to 9 people.
The interior is contemporary, styled with an earth tone color palate and enlivened by colorful artwork and a centerpiece “floating” stairway set before an abstract art backdrop featuring ocean jellyfish. Satin finished walnut with a horizontal grain pattern flows throughout, while light colored wall panels alternated with walnut wood framing lift the ambiance of each room. Overheads are fitted with flush mounted LED lighting, all on dimmers, and most spaces are detailed with wood trimmed ceiling features. Lighting and stereo throughout the vessel interior are controlled by a Crestron system, and window blinds through most of the deckhouse are Hunter Douglas silhouette style, adjustable to the desired level of natural light.
German weathered Oak flooring carries through most interior walkways, with carpeting in all staterooms, the seating area of the Salon, and the forward Library/Theater. The pilothouse sole showcases beautiful maple and ebony decking. Day heads on both the main and bridge deck present a modern aesthetic with glass vanity tops, mirror, light colored wall covering, and designer countertop basin sinks and faucets. Their soles are White Carrera marble, a finish echoed on the upper and lower staircase landings and on the soles of all the other heads on the yacht. All the stateroom heads on the yacht have glass shower enclosures, shower wands, and rain heads. HVAC airflow is delivered through ceiling level wood diffuser vents that blend into the decor, supported by two make-up air units for the interior to aid fresh circulation.
Salon
There are two entry doors to the salon: one from the starboard side and one from the aft deck. Entering via the starboard-side door, a coat closet lies aft and a day-head entry forward. Looking aft, a custom upholstered sofa spans the port side, anchored by a forward corner table with a decor lamp, while two comfortable upholstered armchairs define the forward seating area. Aft, a sofa chaise lounge invites relaxation, complemented by two large leather ottomans at the center with a wood cocktail table between them. Along the starboard side, a stand-up bar presents white textured panels wrapping its base, a polished foot rail, and a wood accent band just beneath the bar top, while a wood panel ceiling feature crowns the space above. From the counter behind the bar, a Samsung 50-inch HDTV rises smoothly on a pop-up lift. The seating area is carpeted in Griege patterned Stanton Supreme Bliss, and the sofa backrest cushions and chaise upholstery are rendered in complementary tones, accented with decor pillows and colorful abstract artwork. The aft wall is dressed with complementary cutout, sheer designer curtains.
The bar is fully appointed with a Hoshizaki drink ice cube maker, a GE drink refrigerator with drawers and bottle shelves, and a brushed stainless steel sink fitted with a Kohler Karbon articulating faucet, all supported by fitted glassware storage within the cabinets, dedicated bottle storage, and barkeeper tools. A 24-bottle GE wine chiller cabinet, positioned by the galley entry off the dining room, ensures perfect service temperatures. Entertainment and ambiance are effortlessly managed by an iPad programmed with a Crestron system to command the TV, lighting, and stereo through flush-mounted ceiling speakers.
Dining
From the salon, proceed forward along the starboard side past the stairway to enter the dining area, where a rectangular table with a glass top, thick wood framing, and a robust wood base sets a refined tone. Eight high-back upholstered chairs encircle it, with generous armrests on the chairs at each end to anchor the ensemble. Expansive outboard windows deliver superb visibility, being true hull-side glass with no walkaround deck at this stage of the yacht as you move forward, while overhead a paneled wood ceiling feature with inset lighting creates a warm, architectural glow. The inboard wall is adorned with a large, colorful abstract nautical painting that adds a vibrant focal point.
Between the stairway and the dining area, a swing door opens to the galley, revealing a hidden service area with a pass-through and a wine cooler for effortless hosting. Along the aft wall, three large cabinet doors conceal secure storage for china, flatware, and serving ware, and beneath the windows additional cabinetry provides secure storage for stemware and glasses. The windows are fitted with Silhouette blinds for privacy and light control, and a Crestron wall panel offers intuitive adjustments for both sound and lighting. Moving forward, elegant double doors open to the Library/Theater.
Library / theater lounge
Crafted for comfortable relaxation, this inviting lounge begins with a large L-shaped upholstered sofa that spans the aft wall and flows to port, joined on the port side by a marble-top end table with a decorative lamp and a storage cabinet below. At the center, a generously pillow-cushioned armchair anchors the seating ensemble, while at the front of the grouping a pair of Christian Liaigre Latin lounge chairs with decorative pillows adds sculptural poise. Two large leather ottomans and two wood cocktail tables gather at the heart of the space atop plush carpeting, and overhead a wood trim ring feature on the ceiling artfully complements the bookcases along the forward wall.
Set within these bookcases, a wall-mounted 60-inch Samsung HDTV forms the cinematic centerpiece, paired with a James Loudspeaker Theater Series system that integrates four flush-mounted ceiling speakers and three custom in-wall speakers beneath the video screen for enveloping, theater-quality sound from overhead and within the walls. To starboard, a desk with two chairs, a phone set, and extended wood counterspace creates a refined workstation. On either side, hull-side windows boxed in wood are dressed with Silhouette blinds for tailored light and privacy.
Technology is elegantly streamlined by an iPad running the Crestron system, programmed to command the TV, media servers, lighting, stereo, and audio controls, while a wall-mounted Crestron panel near the entry door duplicates these core functions. Discreet door panels flanking the media screen open to a technical room concealed behind the bookcase, where A/V, lighting, and select communications equipment are organized in three rack storage cases.
Pilothouse and electronics
From the main deck, a central stairway leads to the pilothouse, arriving on a marble landing with a bridge day head to starboard. Forward, an entry door opens to a pilothouse finished with a nautical wood deck sole, followed by two steps up to the helm level. Wing doors to port and starboard open onto the Portuguese bridge with wing docking stations, and just aft of each wing door, stairs lead down to the side decks. The pilothouse features a reverse‑angled windshield with a wiper system and defroster, framing a centerline helm. Two Stidd Admiral helm chairs face a five‑screen glass helm array elegantly wood‑framed to mirror the rake of the windshield. Instrument controls, engine and thruster controls, jog steering, and smaller data screens sit atop the center cabinet, accompanied by two phone‑style VHF mic handsets remote‑mounted on the cabinet face. Above, a down‑angled equipment panel carries engine displays, radio controls, and compass and GPS displays. To port of the helm, a lighted chart table with chart drawers is matched by a second chart table to starboard. A raised L‑shaped settee and wood table sit just aft of the helm chairs, with overhead and aft cabinetry housing SAT communications, weather, and navigation data gear, while an additional cabinet provides bookshelves for ship’s papers and manuals. Aft to starboard within the pilothouse, a stair leads up to an electrically operated sliding door that opens to the flybridge.
The integrated navigation and communications suite centers on a Green Marine BridgeCommand glass bridge presenting four nineteen‑inch multi‑touch displays and one twenty‑four‑inch display on the pilothouse console, complemented by one Green Marine All‑weather Series II nineteen‑inch display on the flybridge. Heading is delivered by a Sperry Marine gyro compass with digital display and analogue repeater, and positioning by two Furuno GP‑33 GPS units. A Sperry Marine Navipilot 4000+ provides automatic steering with a remote panel on the flybridge. Situational awareness is assured by Furuno X‑Band and S‑Band radars with Trackball Control units, while a Furuno CH‑500 Searchlight Sonar deploys its transducer from the bulbous bow. VHF communications include two Cobham Sailor 6222 Class A sets with remote mic 6204s on the flybridge and in crew areas. Depth information comes via a Furuno Black Box DFF1‑UHD Chirp network sounder and a Furuno digital depth system. Data is organized and displayed on three Furuno FI‑70 units in the pilothouse plus one FI‑70 on the flybridge, with Transas and Nobeltec navigation systems running via a Trident PC. The vessel’s AIS is a Furuno FA‑170, and NAVTEX is handled by a Furuno NX‑700B supported by an Airmar ultrasonic weather station. A Furuno BR‑510 BNWAS watch alarm safeguards bridge operations. Satellite communication capability includes Furuno FELCOM 18, an Inmarsat‑C mobile earth system with SSAS and LRIT, Furuno IC‑307 and Furuno IC‑218, VSAT – Isotropic iDirect, Sea Tel Cobham HDTV, Fleet 1, and Starlink. Onboard connectivity is delivered by Starlink connected to a Pepwave network feeding five WAPs, augmented by an Aigean Wi‑Fi bridge/receiver. Closed‑circuit coverage employs CommandBridge video switching via an exacqVision PC, with five cameras—three rotating positioned aft, on the mast, and in the engine room, and two stationary on the side decks—plus FLIR, all digitally recorded on a seven‑day loop. Night operations benefit from a mast‑mounted FLIR camera with three‑hundred‑sixty‑degree rotation. Ship system monitoring is via Maretron with displays in the pilothouse, flybridge, engine room, crew lounge, and captain’s cabin. Safety and security are supported by a Notifier Fire alarm Annunciator system by Honeywell, a General Alarm system by Honeywell, CO2 and smoke detectors, a galley heat detector, and a phone/intercom. Crew communications are enhanced by five ICOM M88 VHF radios, three with remote mics, while signaling and illumination are provided by a Kahlenberg three‑trumpet Model T‑2 with Fog Signal Control Unit and a Jabsco JA 62042‑4006 spotlight with remote controls in the pilothouse and on the flybridge. Navigation and communications emergency batteries are housed in a separate bank within the Portuguese bridge, supported by an additional Newmar charger.

Entering from the pilothouse stairway to starboard, the flybridge reveals Esthec decking sheltered beneath a substantial hardtop and a three-sided polycarbonate enclosure for superb weather protection. The centerline helm console rises two steps above the deck, placing the captain in command from a Stidd chair flanked by plush cushioned companion bench seating, while a larger portside lounge welcomes several guests. Overhead, a yacht-finish headliner integrates LED lighting, flush-mounted stereo speakers, and a refined decorative trim feature for an ambiance that is both polished and inviting.
Aft along the port side, a generous dining area pairs a U-shaped settee with a Release Marine inlaid teak dining table standing on polished stainless stanchions, complemented by three teak, stainless steel, and canvas chairs to comfortably seat eight for meal service. To starboard, a slightly curved L-shaped, white solid-surface, two-tier bar incorporates a circular stainless sink and faucet, a GE stainless steel front drink refrigerator, a Hoshizaki stainless steel front ice cube maker, and a Fisher & Paykel drawer-style dishwasher. Four fixed Release Marine Cake Top barstools with cushioned teak seats, polished stainless bases, and footrails line the bar for relaxed entertaining. Just aft, a dedicated cabinet with an opening top conceals two Gaggenau dual-burner electric grills, ready for alfresco cuisine.
Beyond the trailing edge of the hardtop, a raised Baja Spas circular six-person hot tub with surround overflow gutter and light invites open-air indulgence, its rear step and safety railing ensuring secure access. To port of the spa and forward to the back of the dining settee, an expansive sun pad with decorative pillows creates a serene lounging retreat. The aft flybridge is encircled by polished stainless railings, while the aft bulwarks feature an accenting Esthec cap for a cohesive, contemporary finish. A stored collapsible aluminum ladder provides access to the top of the hardtop and the lighted electronics mast, and a starboard stairway descends aft to the bridge deck for effortless movement between decks.
Master stateroom and afterdeck
Located on the bridge deck, the master stateroom enjoys private access to the covered bridge afterdeck and is framed by sweeping window vistas. At its heart rests a king-size berth set on a raised soft-side platform with subtle lighting beneath, flanked by marble-topped nightstands with drawers and wall lamps above. The room is plushly carpeted, and along the starboard side are his-and-hers closets and dressing areas separated by a fold-top opening makeup vanity with mirror and leather chair. A twelve-drawer dresser is built into the aft corner, there are six-drawer cabinets inside two of the other hanging closets, and a security safe stands ready for valuables. A separate cabinet conceals a GE Profile front-loading stacked washer and dryer. Each of the remarkable windows is individually dressed with Silhouette blinds for measured daylight, complemented by full-length blackout curtains capable of rendering the room dark at midday. Forward, double frosted glass and wood doors open to the master head, where a mirror crowns a double-sink designer vanity with refined faucets and wood cabinetry below. To port, a large glass shower enclosure features dual rain heads and two sets of shower fixtures, while marble accents, wood ceiling trim, a window, and thoughtfully placed lighting elevate the ambiance. To starboard, full-length mirrors accompany a door leading to a private lavatory room. Back in the stateroom, a flush-mounted Samsung fifty-inch HDTV pairs with a flush ceiling surround sound system, and an iPad programmed with the Crestron system seamlessly controls the TV, media, lighting, and stereo. A ceiling soffit detail provides dimmable, indirect illumination that sets the perfect mood.
On the aft port side, a door opens to a semi-private balcony afterdeck arranged for relaxed indulgence, with two custom cushioned chaise loungers and an aft settee surrounding a Release inlayed teak table with polished stainless mounting and matching chairs. Stainless railings embrace this area, which is finished with Esthec decking and an Esthec feature cap around the back edge of the settee. A polished stainless ensign staff stands aft at center, complemented by a stainless flag staff and bases for Rupp radial outriggers positioned in the corners of the afterdeck. Sound carries with crystal clarity thanks to JL Audio and flush-mounted ceiling speakers on the aft deck, also managed through the Crestron system, while a curved stairway to port aft leads gracefully down to the main aft deck.

A curved stairway nearby leads up to the aft deck fiddle door engine room entry. Behind the stairway, the HVAC Dometic chiller system delivers robust climate control through three 10-ton units (all renewed late 2025) with supplemental heat via an immersion heat unit, and S/Rs, Salon, Library, and PH handlers also feature heat strips. Overhead on the portside sits an air handler regulated by a digital thermostat. Outboard of the main engines, two 50kW Northern Lights generators reside in sound shields, their control panels with auto-start feature arrayed on the forward bulkhead. A single generator can power the full boat in most operating conditions, and a Sephco Smartload load bank ensures proper loading. On the forward port bulkhead, the clearly labeled fuel manifold system integrates a transfer pump with six fuel tanks, operating from a day tank (100 gallons), while fuel is conditioned via a Schroeder Industries coalescing and particulate filtration system, aided by priming pumps. Tank levels are tracked by a Maretron digital system and backed up by three Tank Tender pneumatic monitors located on the bulkhead. Above, a Powerex air compressor energizes the horn cluster and air tool connections deployed at several stations, with a refrigerated air dryer system adjoining. To starboard on the bulkhead, the bilge pumping manifold employs labeled gate valves, and the bilge pump and fire main pump sit side by side, interchangeable and both wired with soft-start switches. Further along the starboard side, an independent hydraulic control pack serves the passarelle, and the Headhunter Tidal Wave HMX 6004 waste treatment plant manages blackwater to stringent standards. A Delta T engine room ventilation system provides efficient airflow with vent damper emergency closure capability, while protection below the waterline is bolstered by a Fail-Safe Max galvanic isolator unit and a Siemens CAPAC cathodic monitor.
Power comes from twin Caterpillar C18 ACERT diesels, A duty rated at 475 hp, turning through Twin Disc Quick-Shift transmissions with 3.5:1 reduction to a straight-shaft drive with Torsional Coupling. Raw water cooling is drawn via two Sea Chests with crossover and blow-down fittings, and the underwater exhaust features a bypass circuit. Engine health and cleanliness are supported by a crankcase ventilation and oil recovery system, with dual Racor primary fuel filters for the mains and generators monitored by restriction pressure gauges. Serviceability is enhanced by overhead hose reels delivering fresh lube oil through Fill Rite meters and dedicated waste-oil return reels feeding designated tanks. CAT color engine data displays are installed in pairs at the Pilothouse, Flybridge, and in the engine room, while CAT engine control binnacles are positioned at the Pilothouse, Flybridge, and each wing docking station. Precision close-quarters handling is further elevated by a YachtController wireless remote for engine and bow thruster control, and CAT emergency backup control panels stand ready both in the Pilothouse and within the engine room.
Hull and deck
NORTHLAND’s hull is welded ASTM A36 steel, and her superstructure is welded aluminum using 5000 and 6000 series marine-grade aluminum alloys. Built to ABS A1 class regulations, the structure is engineered for watertight integrity with watertight doors, hatches, and windows. All decks are cambered to shed water efficiently, and freeing ports are arranged as per the Classification Society regulations. All decks, except the anchor area of the foredeck, are fitted with Esthec Nautical Decking, a Dutch-made teak alternative that is exceptionally solid, durable, and easy to maintain, finished in Biscuit with dark gray seams. Solid Esthec is also employed in the cockpit in place of the covering board/coaming, as a cap rail accent on the centerline aft, on all exterior stairs, and as exterior overhead trim across all three decks. Polished stainless steel name plates grace the flybridge sides and the transom, while fuel fill stations to either side deck feature Camlock-style fittings and containment drains leading to the oily water tank.
Beneath the waterline, a bulbous bow is paired with a 100 hp hydraulic proportional bow thruster. ABT stabilizers with four actuator fins and a protective keel keep the propellers well above harm, complemented by shaft and rudder tubes and five-blade Michigan Nibral propellers. Becker Marine Systems high-lift, flap rudders deliver remarkable maneuverability. The hull is painted with Awlgrip HDT in Castle Tan, sealed beneath two topcoats of clear, while the deckhouse is finished in Awlgrip 2000 in Stark White. Anti-fouling is Black Sea Hawk Biocop, with Halkron on the propellers, running gear, rudders, and thruster prop blades. A bottom job is scheduled for mid-July 2026. Tan Sunbrella covers protect virtually everything on the flybridge, both tenders, the bow windlasses and ship’s bell, search light, air horns, fighting chair, and exterior tables, chairs, and settees.
Broker comment
An original-owner, USA-built and flagged yacht, NORTHLAND reflects the quality and functionality of her proud shipbuilder and has proven herself through extensive travel. The captain has been with this boat since the first steel was cut, living at the shipyard during most of its construction, and his typical operating profile is to run 1300rpm at 55% load, making 9.5 to 10 knots while burning a total of about 20 gallons per hour, rendering the range of trip possibilities truly remarkable.

General overview
NORTHLAND is a luxury explorer yacht with a steel hull and bulbous bow, built in the United States by Burger Boat Company to an exceptional standard of finish. The original owner and captain worked closely with the yard to oversee the construction of this custom-specification project from the design board of Luis de Basto. Based in South Florida, she was conceived with a reasonable draft for this style of vessel to enable Bahamas-friendly usage, and with a lower-maintenance exterior to allow regular operation with a modest number of crew. Her cockpit was designed for offshore fishing, while all water activities benefit from excellent access for tender operations.
Since her launch in 2017, she has traveled extensively, including a passage to Norway on her own bottom, made possible by her 4,000-plus-mile range. Dependable CAT power, ABS A1 build quality, and a strong equipment list have all contributed to these ventures, with practicality kept as a primary driver.
Covered walk-around side decks provide entry doors on both sides, with the starboard door opening to the salon foyer and the port door serving as a crew entrance to the galley, while steps forward lead up to a Portuguese bridge. Sea stairs can attach to either side at the boarding gates onto the aft deck, and aft boarding is available via a hydraulic passerelle gangway deployed from the starboard-side cockpit step. The general arrangement offers four staterooms plus crew, oriented toward family use, with a master suite aft on the bridge deck. Two diesel-powered tenders are carried on the forward working deck, preserving a well-utilized fishing cockpit aft.
Having returned to her home dock in Jupiter, Florida, where she will remain while being marketed, NORTHLAND is ready to offer more world-class experiences to her second owners.
