Overview

1999 Tim Jackett–Designed 36' Sailing Yacht

Crafted in 1999 and lying in the United States, this 36-foot sailing yacht embodies the timeless elegance and purposeful performance that define a true Sailing Yacht and Racer-Cruiser. Designed by the renowned Tim Jackett, it offers the poise and balance enthusiasts expect from a Performance Cruiser, with a monohull profile that is as graceful at anchor as it is capable underway.

The yacht’s fiberglass composite hull and matching fiberglass deck provide a quiet, solid ride and enduring strength, complemented by clean lines and a cockpit tailored for confident, short-handed sailing. Her generous beam promotes stability and space, while the underbody inspires trust with sure-footed tracking and a smooth, seakindly motion—equally at home as a Coastal Cruiser or stretching her legs on a bluewater passage.

Step below and you’re greeted by an inviting, light-filled interior arranged for comfort without compromising function. Warm finishes, excellent ventilation, and thoughtful stowage make extended weekends or longer escapes a pleasure. A practical galley supports life aboard with ease, while the salon invites relaxed conversation at day’s end. With approximately 70 gallons of fresh water on board, provisioning for cruising is simple and stress-free.

Power comes from a dependable Volvo Penta diesel on a saildrive—efficient, quiet, and easy to maneuver in close quarters. With roughly 26 gallons of fuel capacity and the confidence of diesel reliability, harbor hops and weather windows are handled with composure. Systems are straightforward and sailor-friendly, underscoring the yacht’s ethos: refined simplicity, delivered with quality.

This 36-footer is as much about the journey as the destination—a versatile Cruiser with racer-bred DNA that rewards a light touch on the helm. Whether you’re seeking a capable weekend retreat, a spirited club racer, or a comfortable liveaboard platform, this Fiberglass Monohull delivers a rare blend of performance, comfort, and enduring style.

Detailed Description

Description

“Kali,” a C&C 110, carries forward the celebrated C&C pedigree as a true performance cruiser, balancing spirited sailing with inviting comfort. Designed to stretch her legs upwind and down, she is equally at home cruising the Salish Sea or hunting silverware at your local yacht club regatta. Below, a warm cherry interior frames a practical two‑stateroom layout, highlighted by a custom centerline cherry dining table and comfortable settees to either side. Daily life aboard is made effortless with pressure hot‑and‑cold water, refrigeration, diesel heat, an inverter, and a microwave, all wrapped in the light, airy ambiance that reviewers so admire: varnished cherry lockers and bulkheads, beautiful dovetailing in the cabin drawers, and a finish that looks and feels like a proper sailboat rather than a floating RV.

In the summer of 2023, “Kali” benefitted from a comprehensive program of major upgrades. The keel was removed and reset with attention to new washers and freshly cleaned nuts and bolts, then carefully resealed and faired. The mast was unstepped for a full rigging inspection. Mechanical and electrical systems were renewed with a new engine starter, a new engine alternator, a new starter battery, a new battery switch, and new house batteries—two AGM units—paired to a new Xantrex Freedom1000 inverter. The saildrive received thorough maintenance with an oil change; its bellows and seals were replaced, the leg was powder‑coated, and new zincs were fitted. The engine oil was changed, and the bottom was freshly painted in 2023. In total, the owners invested over $42,000 in these 2023 upgrades, with all receipts available. The boat is offered for sale due to a medical issue preventing one owner from sailing—an unfortunate circumstance that creates an exceptional opportunity for the next custodian, with the owners genuinely motivated to sell.

Praised in Sailing Magazine for its varnished cherry wood, light colors, and exceptional production finish—right down to the elegant dovetailing—this C&C 110 feels refreshingly like a sailor’s boat. “Kali” has been diligently maintained and thoughtfully updated by her current owner; the detailed work list reflects a commitment to performance, reliability, and enduring style.

Overview and upgrades

From stem to stern, “Kali” presents a crisply curated chronology of upgrades and a specification that rewards both the performance‑minded helmsman and the comfort‑seeking crew. Most recently, in 2023, the keel was removed and reset with new keel bolts, then resealed and faired; the mast was dropped for a full rigging inspection; a new engine starter and a new engine alternator were installed; the electrical backbone was renewed with new house batteries—two AGM—alongside a new battery switch, a new starter battery, and a new Xantrex Freedom1000 inverter. The saildrive was serviced with an oil change, its bellows and seals replaced, the leg powder‑coated with new zincs fitted, the engine oil changed again for good measure, and the bottom was painted in 2023. In 2022, the running rigging advanced with new halyards. In 2018, the engine cooling system was rebuilt, a Tides Marine mainsail track system was added, new UK Sails main and jib joined the inventory, a UK A2 asymmetrical spinnaker and a gennaker arrived with a dedicated pole, and the lifelines were renewed. In 2017, the salon table was rebuilt, a new folding propeller was fitted, and an African Queen cockpit cover with Velcro‑secured sides was added. In 2013, the Webasto AT5500 heater was rebuilt, a Raymarine multifunction 95 GPS unit was installed, and lazy jacks were added. In 2012, the cockpit gained a hot‑and‑cold shower, and the head received new thru‑hulls plus a macerator.

Step inside and the interior reveals cherrywood joinery, a custom centerline cherry dining table, and comfortable settees on both sides beneath thoughtfully placed overhead lighting. To port lies the navigation station, with the head aft to port and the galley aft to starboard, and an overhead opening deck hatch admits light and breeze. The galley is fitted with Corian‑type countertops and ample lockers, a double stainless‑steel sink with pressure hot‑and‑cold water, and a two‑burner propane stove with oven and broiler supported by a propane solenoid control with alarm, while the under‑counter fridge space houses 12 V refrigeration. Accommodations comprise two private cabins: a forward double V‑berth and an aft double berth tucked beneath the cockpit. The single large “dry” head aft to port features a separate shower space. Both cabins offer useful storage lockers, overhead and reading lights, and the forward cabin enjoys an opening deck hatch.

The electronics and navigation suite centers on a Raymarine C95 chartplotter display at the helm, flanked by Raymarine ST60 speed and depth transducers and a Raymarine masthead wind direction and speed wand. A Raymarine ST6002 autopilot steers faithfully, a Compir AIS receiver expands situational awareness, a VHF radio handles comms, and entertainment flows through a stereo AM/FM receiver with CD player and USB plug‑in feeding both salon and cockpit speakers. A bulkhead‑mounted clock barometer in the salon completes the classic navigator’s trim.

Electrical systems are cleanly organized. The 110 V AC shore power system includes an AC distribution panel with breakers at the nav station, 110 V analog volt and amp meters at the nav station, a battery charger, a Xantrex 1000‑watt inverter, 110 V outlets throughout the boat, a 50' 30 amp shore power cord, and a galvanic isolator. The 12 V DC ship’s system presents a DC distribution panel with breakers at the nav station, 12 V analog volt and amp meters at the nav station, house batteries totaling 400 amphrs (new 2023), new battery cables in 2023, a new 2023 12 V engine start battery, a standard Volvo 60 amp alternator, a new 2023 Xantrex Freedom1000 inverter, and a new 2023 master battery on/off switch.

On the spar and rigging front, an Offshore Spars triple‑spreader aluminum mast teams with a Tides Marine mainsail track and slide system and a Furlex under‑deck headsail furler. Stainless‑steel rod rigging and a SailTech hydraulic backstay adjuster deliver precise control, supported by lazy jacks, an aluminum boom, and a solid boom vang. Deck hardware includes Lewmar self‑tailing winches, a Lewmar mainsail traveler in the cockpit, adjustable genoa cars, and comprehensive Lewmar fittings, with plenty of newer running rigging throughout. For off‑the‑wind power, a Selden retractable bowsprit sets the stage for asymmetricals.

The sail inventory is as versatile as it is performance‑minded: UK Sails cruising laminate tri‑radial performance cruising sails comprising a full‑batten mainsail with one reef and a furling genoa with UV cover; a UK Sails A2 gennaker with a dousing sleeve; a Doyle Dacron main and Doyle Dacron genoa; and a #/4 oz tri‑radial symmetrical spinnaker.

On deck, practical details meet purposeful design: an anchor roller at the bow feeds a dedicated anchor locker; stainless‑steel bow and stern pulpits and stainless‑steel lifelines guard the perimeter; lifeline gates sit by the companionway on each side; full‑length aluminum toe rails line both side decks; opening deck hatches bring air and light; robust mooring cleats secure bow and stern; stainless‑steel handrails crown the cabin top to either side; and a hot‑and‑cold fresh‑water shower graces the stern for post‑swim rinses.

Rounding out the specification, additional equipment includes a fold‑down swim/boarding platform on the transom; Webasto diesel heat rebuilt in 2021; a holding tank with macerator pump; a 35 lb Bruce anchor backed by 30' of 5/16" anchor chain and 150' of 5/8" twelve‑strand nylon anchor rode; a 22 lb Danforth secondary anchor; a binnacle cover; a companionway dodger; a folding prop; four fenders and dock lines; and most US Coast Guard safety equipment. All told, “Kali” blends race‑bred poise with cruising practicality in a way that feels effortless under sail and deeply considered at rest.
