Machinery
Propulsion is delivered by two Caterpillar 3412 main engines rated at 1,400 Hp each, fully serviced by Anchors of America in June 2024 and breathing through Walker Airsep turbo intake filters. Power is transmitted via twin Twin Disc MG-6556DC gearboxes with a 3-1 ratio to two skewed 4‑bladed 34-inch propellers. Electrical generation is equally new and efficient, with two Northern Lights 65Kw generators installed in 2025, complemented by an upgraded shorepower transformer converted to 480v. All main engine and generator batteries were replaced in 2025, and new battery chargers were installed the same year. Climate control is substantial and quiet, provided by two chilled-water units of 120,000 BTU and 90,000 BTU. For autonomy and control, two FEI MAX Q watermakers rated at 1,275 GPD were installed new in 2025 with all piping renewed; Wesmar 1600 two‑fin stabilizers ensure poise; and a bow thruster was newly upgraded in 2025 with fresh bridge controls. The steering is hydraulic. Waste handling is robust, featuring a Headhunter HMX sewage treatment system approved by USCG and fresh‑water Jet Vacuum heads. The freshwater system benefits from new pumps and manifolds fitted in 2025.
Communication, navigation & entertainment systems
On the communications front, the yacht is fitted with SATcom via a G6 unit/gyro Trac, a V11‑HTS Dual Mode telephone system for voice and data, an ICOM M604 VHF, and a digital 4000 cellular phone system. Shipwide Wi‑Fi blankets the yacht for owner, guests, crew, A/V equipment, and data via a single‑panel Marine Starlink interface, while a Furuno LH3000 loudhailer calls the engine room as well as forward and aft stations. Navigation is comprehensive, with two Furuno 1964c radars at 12kw and 25kw, a Furuno F‑150 AIS, a Furuno CH250BB sonar at 88Kz, a Simrad RGL 50 gyrocompass, a Simrad AP50 autopilot, and a Furuno dual‑frequency 2kw depth sounder. Positioning and plotting are handled by a Furuno Navnet GPS32B receiver in concert with the Timezero electronic chart plotting system, and apparent wind and speed are monitored by a B&G Hydra H1000 wind anemometer. Entertainment flows elegantly throughout the vessel, with sound and video distributed to every zone via RTI T3X Wi‑Fi‑enabled handheld remotes and RTI KX3 wall controllers, feeding SONOS streaming and DirectTV, and playing through speakers thoughtfully placed throughout.
Galley & laundry equipment
The main galley is a chef’s delight, centered on a GE Profile stainless‑steel four‑burner glass cooktop, complemented by a GE Profile microwave/convection oven and an additional Samsung microwave oven. Cold storage is extensive, with a Leib Herr refrigerator/freezer and a dedicated Perlick freezer, plus two walk‑in units of 180 cubic feet each for refrigeration and freezing and a further 122 cubic foot walk‑in center refrigerator located in the aft engineering compartment; a Scotsman icemaker keeps service brisk. A Fisher Pikel dishwasher makes quick work of cleanup. On deck, a Force 10 propane BBQ expands culinary options, supported by various auxiliary icemakers and refrigerators. Laundry is handled by a Whirlpool Duet stacking washer/dryer for quiet, efficient care.
Deck equipment
Ground tackle is specified for real‑world voyaging, with two Muir Model 4500 vertical anchor windlasses serving an eighty‑kilogram Bruce‑type anchor and twin chain sets comprised of one five‑shot 450‑foot port chain and one five‑shot 450‑foot starboard chain. On the bridge deck, a Steelhead Marine CT3500 davit manages tenders and toys with authority, and the tender crane controls were rebuilt in 2025. A broad swim platform with removable railing stanchions simplifies water access, while a foredeck Jacuzzi sized for four invites relaxation between adventures.
Security, fire fighting & safety equipment
Security is overseen by a Panasonic Digital Video Multiplexer WJFS CCTV backbone with four cameras and five 18‑inch Green Marine color monitors. Fire protection is anchored by a SeaFire FM‑200 fixed system in the engine room and complemented by sixteen portable extinguishers, with the deck fire system rebuilt in 2025. Safety inventory is thorough, including two Viking twelve‑person life rafts, two life rings, thirty USCG‑approved life vests, one EPIRB, and appropriate medical equipment.
Accomadations
On the main deck aft, EMPIRE SEA’s partially covered after deck welcomes guests with a forward‑centerline U‑shaped settee wrapped around a cocktail table, while an exterior wet bar with marble top, refrigerator, and aft BBQ keeps refreshments at hand alongside a convenient day head. Stairs lead to the large open aft deck that has served admirably for a fighting chair and offshore sportfishing; centered access opens into the dive lazarette and watersports storage, and two generous fish wells are concealed beneath the deck. The swim platform sits on centerline aft with port and starboard stairs for effortless embarkation. Entering the main deck salon from either port or starboard aft, the space expands to full beam with oversized windows for panoramic views, an inviting L‑shaped sofa, a game table, a dining table, and additional lounge seating that fosters easy conversation in an elegantly casual ambiance; a large television rises on a lift from a starboard‑side cabinet just aft of the double entry doors. Forward, the open dining salon seats eight at a rectangular table; adjacent to starboard, the entry foyer connects the side deck companionway, the main staircase to the bridge and owner’s stateroom, and the galley forward. The main deck galley, positioned just forward of the dining area, features a central island, a large pantry, and aft doors that streamline discreet service; vast windows bathe the workspace in light, and port and starboard deck access further simplifies circulation. Aft on the bridge deck, the master stateroom is a serene retreat with a king bed, extensive storage, a sofa and chaise lounge, and sweeping windows that amplify the sense of volume; the ensuite master bathroom features a large glass shower with electric opaque windows and electric blinds for instant privacy. Forward on this level, the wheelhouse is comprehensively outfitted and crowned by a centerline Stidd helm chair, with a generous aft settee perfect for long passages enjoyed through expansive windows. Aft on the bridge deck, comfortable movable aft‑facing seating outside the master creates a delightful perch over the anchorage, and the open aft area serves as a large tender and toy deck with crane; once the tenders and toys are launched, it transforms into an excellent sun lounge and entertainment terrace, complete with a full control box for precise maneuvering or fishing aft. The sundeck/flybridge is a guest favorite for lounging, sunbathing, workouts, and making a stylish entrance to port; beneath the mast and overhead cover, wicker furnishings can be endlessly re‑configured, and there is further capacity to stow additional water toys. Below, three guest staterooms carry the yacht’s elegant millwork and clean styling: two queen cabins each offer ensuite bathrooms with showers, while a large VIP suite adds a lounge area, a makeup desk, and an ensuite with a walk‑through shower finished in luxurious marble and a separate water closet. All staterooms feature entertainment systems, individual A/C controls, and safes. Crew accommodations are designed for efficiency, sleeping up to five in three cabins, including a Captain’s cabin and two additional crew cabins, each with an ensuite, air‑conditioning controls, and entertainment system.
Comments
EMPIRE SEA was conceived and constructed as a full‑displacement expedition yacht, purpose‑built for diving and offshore sportfishing while delivering the space, comfort, and amenities often reserved for substantially larger motor yachts. Over the past ten years, she has been meticulously maintained and continuously improved on an open‑checkbook basis, presenting today in true turnkey condition and ready to cruise without compromise. Designed for long‑range passagemaking, she offers expansive open deck spaces, is comprehensively outfitted for offshore fishing and diving, and carries a high‑capacity davit for confident tender handling. Powerful CAT main engines provide the thrust to tow a large tender when desired. With an excellent decade‑long ownership history under the current owner, low crew requirements for easy management, large portholes that flood interiors with natural light, and exclusive private use, she stands as a rare opportunity in the expedition class.
