Overview
HURACAN is a seasoned long-range expedition yacht purpose-built for serious bluewater cruising and extended life at sea. Crafted by Delta and freshly renewed by a substantial refit, she delivers the autonomy, dependability, and integrated systems demanded for far-reaching exploration while preserving the poise and polish expected of a world-class luxury motor yacht. With her stout build, refreshed machinery, and contemporary technology, she suits owners seeking a capable platform for remote cruising grounds and international passage.
This 125' Delta explorer yacht has undergone a comprehensive modernization, positioning her strongly among long-range expedition yachts for sale. With upgraded propulsion, refined climate control, and renewed navigation electronics, HURACAN is set for extended voyages, confident global cruising, and true ocean passagemaking.
Recent works include a major overhaul with conversion to electronic Caterpillar 3508 turbo-diesel mains and fully rebuilt transmissions, plus an updated Furuno suite with TZ2 multifunction display, radar, GPS, AIS, and autopilot. Comfort is elevated by a new air-conditioning plant—one 18-ton unit, one 8-ton unit, and two 6-ton units—along with new galley appliances, fresh interior carpeting, an Apple-based A/V storage and sound-control system, and new hull paint.
Detailed Description
Machinery
The Caterpillar 3508 B electronically controlled unit shows two hundred hours since a complete major overhaul, during which new pistons, rings, bearings, connecting rods, injectors, sprayers, oil coolers, gaskets, seals, cylinder heads, valves, alternators, starter motors, oil pans, expansion tanks, turbochargers, injection pumps, and all electronic sensors were installed. The transmissions likewise benefited from a complete major overhaul and rebuild, ensuring seamless power delivery and enduring reliability.
Electrical systems
The vessel’s electrical architecture is anchored by a comprehensive battery suite comprising four 8D AGM starting batteries, ten 8D gel inverter batteries, one Group 24 battery, and four 8D AGM electronics batteries, supporting a 120/208 VAC three-phase service. DC wiring is specified as two-wire copper stranded sheathed, while AC wiring is three-wire copper stranded sheathed to ensure durability and efficient power delivery. Electrical panels are strategically positioned in the engine room (main), crew companionway, galley, saloon, pilothouse, stateroom companionway, and crew mess, with main AC breaker capacity of fifty and one hundred amps to accommodate a range of operating scenarios.
Deck equipment
Command the anchorage with two Navy stockless anchors, each weighing 1,250 pounds, complemented by a dedicated sea anchor. The ground tackle is rigged with three-quarter-inch stud-link galvanized chain in two links of approximately 800 feet each, ensuring robust holding power and generous scope. For versatile shoreside access and exploration, the yacht carries a Panga 24 fitted with a Yamaha 150 hp and a Ribtec 24 RIB powered by a Yanmar 6LH-STZE inboard/outboard. Heavy-duty handling is effortless thanks to two Steen vertical hydraulic windlasses at the bow and two vertical hydraulic aft Maxwell warping capstans, delivering precise control in all docking and mooring scenarios. Night operations are supported by a Carlisle & Finch remote-control searchlight, while signaling is distinguished by a twelve-inch chrome bell and a Kahlenberg three-trumpet air horn with fog control. A refined FRP swim step with teak over integral construction and two staircases provides easy, elegant access to the water.
Safety
This yacht is comprehensively outfitted for protection, beginning with thirty Type ABC fire extinguishers in size l and ll configurations, encompassing both dry chemical and carbon dioxide units. A fixed Ansul Halon 1301 system employs two 300 lb. cylinders for swift, effective suppression. Distress preparedness includes signals from Pains Wessex and Orion, while vigilant monitoring is provided by Maretron smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. For abandonment readiness, two Viking twenty-five person A Pack non SOLAS life rafts with hydraulic releases stand at the ready. An ACR Satellite 406 RLB-32 EPIRB delivers global emergency alerting, and the fire system is further supported by an AC pump with five hose stations.
Navigation equipment
Command is assured from every vantage point with helm stations in the pilothouse, two wing stations, and the flybridge. Global communications are supported by a KVH TracPhone satellite phone and cellular connectivity via a remote antenna and amplifier, complemented by a Panasonic TES 824 intercom system and a Raytheon 430 loud hailer. Navigation and situational awareness are anchored by an Interphase forward-looking sonar, two Koden CVB 20A fathometers paired with a 1 kW transducer, a Simrad AP48 autopilot, and comprehensive radar coverage from one Furuno FR-2021 with 120 and 96 nm ranges, one Furuno FR-2021, and one Furuno NavNet T2 with 48 nm. Positioning and data integration are handled by two Furuno GP 32 GPS units and a Maretron Black Box, while routing and weather intelligence flow through Nobeltec TimeZero navigation software, with weather fax and data delivered by a Maretron weather station and internet via TimeZero software, plus a Furuno NX-700 NAVTEX. The VHF suite includes two Icom M604 units, an Icom Command Mic, and six Standard HX870 handhelds, with long-range SSB/HAM communications provided by the Icom M802 and Icom IC 718.
