Overview

1981 Baglietto-designed 81 ft Aluminum Motor Yacht, Greece

With the timeless poise of Italian design and the confidence of full aluminum construction, this 81-foot classic motor yacht blends elegant heritage with thrilling performance. Designed inside and out by Baglietto, she carries the unmistakable lines and thoughtful proportions that have made the brand a benchmark for Mediterranean cruising. Currently lying in Greece, she invites effortless island-hopping at an exhilarating 27-knot cruising speed and up to 30 knots when you choose to open her up—true performance from twin MTU diesel engines that deliver fast, quiet, and surefooted passages.

Her 18-foot beam creates a wonderfully voluminous interior, where natural light, warm finishes, and refined detailing set a serene tone for life aboard. The salon welcomes with generous seating and a refined dining area, flowing naturally to the aft deck for shaded alfresco meals over crystalline waters. Forward and up, broad exterior areas invite sun lounging and relaxed conversation against a cinematic Aegean backdrop. Thoughtful deck geometry and the reassuring heft of an aluminum build translate into a composed ride, while her approximately 9.7-foot draft speaks to purposeful seakeeping when the conditions rise.

Below, the accommodations are intimate, quiet, and impeccably arranged for private cruising. Up to four guests are hosted in comfort, with three well-appointed heads ensuring ease and privacy on longer passages. Separate crew quarters—two cabins with berths for four—allow for discreet, professional service and round-the-clock care. Practicality underscores every detail, from a generous fuel capacity of roughly 2,486 gallons and 850 gallons of fresh water for extended autonomy, to the durability and longevity that aluminum yachts are renowned for.

This is a yacht for connoisseurs of classic pedigree who also demand real performance: a performance motor yacht with superyacht sensibilities, crafted to slip gracefully from vibrant harbors to secluded anchorages. Whether you envision spirited coastal sprints or leisurely family voyages, she delivers the rare combination of speed, comfort, and enduring style that defines a true Mediterranean cruiser.

Detailed Description

Vessel particulars

A classic motor yacht built by Hellenic Shipyards SA in 1981, she measures 24,75 m in length overall with a beam of 5,72 m and a depth of 2,96 m, carrying a displacement of 65 tons and a gross tonnage of 75.75. Finished in white, she is powered by twin MTU 12V331 TC-92 main engines with serial numbers 5530525 and 5530524 (starboard and port respectively). Her structure is comprehensively executed in aluminum: hull, deck (laid with teak planks), frames, bulkheads, transom and superstructure, with hull fittings in aluminum and stainless steel for enduring integrity and refined maritime character.

Engine room

Her machinery space centers on MTU 12V331 TC-92 main engines delivering two times 1600 hp at 2340 rpm, with an Echelon W6 overhaul completed in June 2017, followed by an endoscopic and injectors check in May 2019 and annual maintenance in July 2020. Each twelve-cylinder powerplant runs up to a maximum of 2340 rpm with a normal cruise around 2000 rpm. Cold starts are assisted by two electric Hilzinger engine preheaters (Type 111-044, A‑Nr 4104602/04, 3/PE AC 400 V, 4,5 kW), while flexible mountings tame vibration and two electric 440 V extraction fans ventilate the engine room.

Electrical power at sea is provided by two ONAN diesel generators rated at 32 kW each, delivering 440 V output. Propulsion lines comprise two steel shafts of 55.66 mm diameter, sealed by gland-type stuffing boxes and carried in two water‑lubricated bush bearings per line. Twin propellers with three blades each convert power to thrust. Steering is both hydraulic and manual, with an electric rudder pump at 110 V and 1.3 kW ensuring smooth helm response.

The yacht’s electrical installation spans 440 V, 110 V, 24 V and 12 V systems. Six gel-type batteries (each 225 Ah) serve both ship’s service and engine starting, with the main engine starting batteries renewed in July 2020 and the service batteries replaced in May 2018. A dead‑front switchboard resides in the engine room with circuit protection by fuses and breakers. Power management is augmented by transformers: two 440–220 V 20 kVA units, two 440–110 V 20 kVA units, and one 440–220 V 25 kVA unit.

Fire and bilge readiness includes two 110 V electric pumps on a manifold (one installed new in 2009), one 24 V submersible portable pump, and one manual pump. Suction is distributed to the crew area, port and starboard passenger areas, the engine room both forward and aft, and the steering gear room; additionally, the port main engine drives a dependent bilge pump drawing from the engine room bilges.

Onboard climate is maintained by two Dometic Marine Air USA units totaling 120,000 BTU. Compressor units were replaced in June 2016, with the condenser and motor of Unit No. 1 renewed in May 2018. Waste treatment is handled by a BIOCON sewage system installed new in May 2009 and serviced in March 2019, with a hydraulic load of 2618 liters per eight hours and an organic load of 1.35 kg BOD5 per eight hours, fed by a JETS vacuum system.

Tanks

Fuel is diesel, carried in two aluminum tanks for a total capacity of 9.41 m3. The main F.O. tank is centered between frames 7–12 with a capacity of 6.62 m3, complemented by a spare F.O. tank centered between frames 12–14 with 2.79 m3. Venting and overflow discharge overboard, and transfer is managed by a single 24 V pump.

Fresh water is stored in one aluminum tank centered between frames 14 1/2–17 with a capacity of 3.22 m3. Two 24 V pumps feed a hydrophore tank for steady pressure. Hot water comes from two heaters of 30 liters each, one installed new in June 2016. An “Aquabase” watermaker delivers 250 liters per hour, the main fresh water pump was replaced in July 2014, and the fresh water tank was cleaned and painted in April 2018.

Grey water is collected in one sump tank of 0.32 m3 located port of centerline between frames 11–12, fabricated in aluminum, with discharge via a single 24 V pump and no chemical treatment.

Accomodation

Thoughtfully arranged for comfort on extended cruises, the yacht accommodates six guests in three staterooms on the lower deck: a full-beam master, a VIP, and a twin, each appointed with en-suite facilities. Crew quarters are practical and private, with berths for four in two cabins, including one triple cabin with single beds and one dedicated single captain’s cabin, ensuring discreet service and smooth onboard operations.

Galley equipment

The galley is fully fitted for gourmet provisioning and effortless service, featuring a Bosch HCA743250E/04 electric stove, grill and oven, paired with a Bosch SPS53E18EU electric dishwasher. Refrigeration is abundant, with two Liebherr refrigerators in the galley, one additional unit on the flying bridge, and another in the wheelhouse. For extended voyages, two deep freezers are positioned on the flying bridge, while ice is on demand with one icemaker in the saloon and a second on the sun deck.

Navigation, communication & entertainment equipment

In the wheelhouse, a SIMRAD CX 44 NavStation integrates radar, GPS and plotter (2008), complemented by a JRC J Nav 500 GPS (2005) and a SIMRAD EQ 33 echo sounder (2008). Communications are ensured by a VHF ICOM DSC Marine IC M 505 (2005) and a VHF Northstar DSC Marine Explorer 721 (2008). Helmsman confidence comes from a SIMRAD AP 28 autopilot (2008), a SIMRAD R 135 rudder angle indicator (2008), and a SIMRAD IS 20 wind speed and direction indicator (2008), with a White Star magnetic compass as a steadfast reference. Visibility is supported by three 24 VDC windscreen wipers (original). Internal coordination is handled by a PHONTECH CIS 3100 talk-back system (2008) and two sets of KIOUR ALU alarm units (2008). Power conversion includes one 24 VDC 3300 VA CRISTEL inverter, one 24 VDC/100 A CRISTEL battery charger, one 110 VAC–220 VAC converter, one 440 VAC–220 VAC converter, and one static inverter MP3 24/24 VDC – 110/220 VAC by Avel–Lindberg Ltd. Switching is organized through a 24 VDC panel. Safety monitoring features two APOLLO ORBIS optical smoke detectors, a Kentec Electronics K 11080M2 smoke detection and fire alarm system (2006), and CCTV via a MAJESTIC color TFT LCD security monitor for the poop deck camera (2008). Satcom and data are provided by a Fleet 33 satellite telephone/Simrad MS 33 (2007), an ISDN Simrad Telephone CE 0434 (2007), and a McMurdo NAV 7 NAVTEX (2007). Portable comms include four ICOM F29SR handheld UHF radios (2018). A HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop (2008) supports navigation and diagnostics.

On the flying bridge, maneuvering finesse includes a bow thruster control by OYS THRUSTERS (2006), a full engines instruments panel (2006), and SIMRAD autopilot and helm control (2008), with a SIMRAD R 135 rudder-angle indicator (2008) and a Cassens & Plath Beta magnetic compass (1981).
