Overview

SEA HORSE is an exceptional Class A, full-displacement, long-range Kadey-Krogen trawler whose devoted stewardship by just two full-time liveaboard owners throughout her life has preserved her in outstanding condition. Maintained to an uncompromising standard with meticulous maintenance and record keeping, she is fully equipped for extended offshore cruising and self-sufficient living at anchor. Construction

Crafted from high-grade female tooling, the hull and superstructure molds establish precise geometry and an impeccably fair foundation. The hull construction features USA-made Cook® gelcoat, while the topsides are executed in hand-laid Knytex® fiberglass with a closed-cell PVC sandwich core to balance strength and weight. Below the waterline, the structure is solid fiberglass, with blister-resistant vinylester resin applied to the first two laminates and aramid fiber/FRP reinforcements adding further resilience. The superstructure integrates Knytex® and mat in combination with Corecell® cores, complemented by surface mats to reduce print-through and deliver a refined finish. Teak graces the aft and side decks, while the boat deck and foredecks are treated with a GripTex® non-skid finish for confident footing. The bulwark is detailed with molded plank lines and a gel coat finish, and critical hull-to-deck and boat deck joints, as well as exterior fittings, are sealed with polyurethane-formulated marine sealants to ensure enduring integrity. Inside, marine-grade plywood bulkheads are tied into molded fiberglass hat-section stringers, and the interior is completed with handcrafted solid teak and veneers for a warm, bespoke character.

Saloon

Enter the expansive saloon through dual weathertight aluminum doors, their integrated retractable screen seamlessly linking the interior with the teak aft deck. The private ensuite head, located aft to port of the master stateroom, is an elegant study in form and function. Third stateroom (port den)

The navigation and command suite is centered on two Furuno TZTBB black-box navigation units working with a Furuno DRS6A-NXT digital 72-nautical mile open array radar (2021), a Furuno NavPilot 711C autopilot, and a Furuno NavPilot 7021 handheld remote display. Primary plotting resides on a Green Marine 24-inch touchscreen display dedicated to navigation, with a Green Marine 19-inch touchscreen display for secondary navigation and radar, complemented by a Pelco 17-inch monitor with quad video switch for comprehensive camera monitoring and network control. At the helm, a comprehensive electronics suite ensures confidence underway, featuring a Furuno TZtouch 14-inch plotter, a Furuno NavPilot 711C autopilot display, and two Furuno FI-70 displays delivering port and starboard depth readouts. Communication and control are equally well considered with an Icom IC-M604 VHF with hailer complemented by an Icom CommandMic for the pilothouse VHF, a remote panel for ABT TRAC stabilizers, John Deere and ZF engine controls, and bow and stern thruster controls. Audio and broadcast capabilities are further elevated by a SiriusXM tuner with remote antenna and a Delta 12M broadcast TV antenna, while TV cable outlets at the bow and stern provide flexible viewing options. Robust onboard networking is delivered by a Pakedge switch, wireless controller, and WAN system with antennas in the saloon and pilothouse, secured by a UPS battery backup for the network and amplified by a Wave WiFi EC-HP 2.4-5GHz WiFi booster (2023), a Wilson cellular booster with two antennas, and Starlink satellite internet using the second-generation RV system (2023). Engine room and machinery

The machinery space is engineered for reliability and ease of service, starting with twin Tier III John Deere 4045TFM85 125 hp engines turning through ZF Marine 2.917:1 ratio gear and showing 5,576 hours, complemented by a Northern Lights® 12kW generator with sound shield and PTO for hydraulics at 1,444 hours. A remote start for the Northern Lights® generator was added in 2022, and exhaust is hushed by a Northern Lights® generator water exhaust separator. Hydraulic assurance comes from a backup electric hydraulic oil-cooling pump installed in 2019, with the main pump replaced in 2020, while ABT hydraulic stabilizers work in concert with an ABT® 25hp hydraulic bow thruster and an ABT® 15hp hydraulic stern thruster, each with controls at all four stations. Fuel and air management are handled by Racor engine crankcase ventilation (CCV) filters, dual Racor® 900 fuel filters with vacuum gauges for the main engines, dual Racor® 500 fuel filters with vacuum gauges for the generator, and an ESI CFS1000FR fuel polisher. Service is streamlined by a Reverso® oil change system plumbed to both engines, the transmissions, and the generator, fed by a 15-gallon lube oil tank added to the system. Safety is overseen by a Sea-Fire® automatic fire suppression system inspected 9/2024, while electrical output is fortified by Balmar high-output alternators (190 amp) regulated by Wakespeed WS500 external alternator regulators added in 2022, and a Glendinning Cablemaster with a 75-foot shore power cable. Clean, cool air circulates via Manship engine room blowers with moisture eliminators and variable high-speed fans. Command and control remain precise with ZF Mathers Cruise Command four-station engine controls and Teleflex hydraulic steering (two stations).

Domestic and utility systems are equally robust, featuring a Raritan 20-gallon water heater; dual freshwater pumps with one Johnson AquaJet Duo 24 VDC and one Headhunter Mach 5 120 VAC; two Jabsco dockside pressure regulators replaced in 2022; and a whole-boat water filtration system with a carbon filter. Bilge management is comprehensive, with five Rule bilge pumps rated at 3,700 gallons per hour with Ultra high-water alarm (two station), an emergency bilge pump tied into the main engine raw-water intake, and a Rule portable emergency 12-volt bilge pump, while discharge quiet is maintained by a Centek fiberglass muffler. Capacities are generous and thoughtfully arranged with four aluminum fuel tanks with sight gauges for a 1,400-gallon total capacity; a fiberglass 140-gallon black water tank with macerator; a fiberglass 140-gallon grey water tank with macerator; two 316L stainless-steel water tanks totaling 400 gallons; and Safe-T-Alert carbon-monoxide detectors (2023).

Electrical

Engineered for autonomy and seamless shore-to-sea transitions, the electrical system is anchored by a Northern Lights 12kW generator with sound shield (1,444 hours), complemented by a genset remote start added in 2022. Power management is handled by a Mastervolt 4,000-watt inverter/charger (100 amp) and a Mastervolt 3,000-watt backup inverter fitted in 2022, supported by two Mastervolt 100-amp battery chargers delivering a 300-amp total house bank charging capacity, two Mastervolt DC/DC converters dedicated to charging the engine start batteries, and a Mastervolt charger for the generator battery. Renewable input arrives via four Solbian 165-watt solar panels on the pilothouse roof (2020). Shore power integrity and flexibility are ensured by a Charles 240-volt isolation transformer, a Nauti-Tec shore power auto-boost controller (2020), and a Glendinning Cablemaster with a 75' shore power cable, supplemented by a 50' EEL 50-amp 125/250V cable for the 50-amp bow receptacle and a 50' 30A 125-volt cable for the 30A receptacle in the cockpit, with additional shore power inlets at the 50-amp bow and 30-amp stern. Protection is rounded out by a lightning protection system (2019).

The energy reserve is centered on Firefly carbon foam house bank batteries delivering 900 amp-hours at 24 VDC, comprising twelve 4V/450Ah units (installed 2020), joined by Lifeline AGM 92 batteries—12-volt units wired in series for 24 VDC engine starting—and a Lifeline AGM 12-volt generator start battery, all managed with a battery bank switch and safeguarded by a battery combiner for emergency engine start.

Additional components

Beyond her primary systems, she carries a Parker Village Marine StowAway STW-800 watermaker producing 800 GPD, with membranes replaced and the high-pressure pump rebuilt in 2023, plus a Glendinning shore power retrieval system and a bow shore power inlet for effortless connections. Illumination is modern and efficient, with i2Systems LED lighting throughout, all exterior lighting upgraded to LED, and dedicated LED lighting on the flybridge and boat deck. Climate control is equally comprehensive: CruiseAir reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating units feature remotely mounted compressors and SMXHT control panels throughout, complemented by a Hurricane H2E 35,000 BTU diesel hydronic heating system delivering output to every cabin and multiple Caframo 24-volt fans enhancing interior ventilation.

Her ground tackle inspires confidence, led by two Maxwell hydraulic vertical windlasses with wildcat and gypsy, serviced in 2025, and two Maxwell anchor remote control stations with chain counters at the pilothouse and flybridge. The primary Vulcan 55 121 lb anchor is matched to 300' of 7/16" G4 chain, while a Fortress F80 anchor carries 100' of 7/16" G4 chain and 300' of 7/8" nylon rode. For bluewater preparedness there is a Fiorentino 18’ offshore sea anchor with 300' of 3/4" deployment line, a heavy-duty towing bridle, and At-Anchor Flopper Stoppers. The anchor locker is secured by a Freeman watertight deck hatch color-matched to the deck gelcoat.

Deck and tender handling are equally refined thanks to a Steelhead ES1000 electric-hydraulic davit system with power rotation, with its cable replaced in 2021. On deck you will also find custom window covers along with flybridge and cockpit shades and numerous canvas covers, fresh and saltwater washdowns, a cockpit shower, custom Sunbrella exterior seating cushions, an Armstrong four-step pull-out dive ladder, and three stern staples. Safety equipment includes a Viking six-person valise life raft, Model 6UKCL, repacked in 2021, and propane service is provided by two 20 lb aluminum tanks. A whole-boat water filter system further enhances onboard convenience.

Running gear and machinery have been diligently maintained: PYI dripless shaft seals and aft cutlass bearings were replaced in 2021; the props and shafts were reconditioned the same year, with prop shaft collars upgraded to tapered shafts. Stabilizers and thrusters received their five-year service in 2022, the John Deere engine coolant system was serviced and flushed in 2022, and raw-water pumps on both John Deere engines and the Northern Lights generator were replaced that year. Steering cylinders and hydraulic fluid were both renewed in 2023, and the vessel received a complete buff and polymer sealant in 2026.

Tender

The yacht carries an AB Inflatables 12 VSX RIB powered by a Yamaha 30 hp outboard, equipped with a Garmin UHD chartplotter and a Standard Horizon VHF, and complete with anchor and rode for dependable shore transfers and exploration. A new canvas cover (2025) keeps the tender clean and protected when not in use.

Exclusions

The following items are excluded from the sale: the owner's personal effects and belongings, artwork, tools, kayaks, and the teak outdoor chairs—four in total—together with the table.
