MCP launched the project by canvassing the market to pinpoint what modern owners value most, then set clear design goals. “Foremost was exceptional natural light and expanses of glass,” explains Manoel Chaves, the yard’s proprietor. “With advanced engineering, we achieved that in spite of glass’s inherent weight.” The intent was simple: to connect with the ocean from every vantage point. A Portuguese bridge and a raised pilothouse were non-negotiables as well, and from these pillars, the yacht’s architecture crystallized.

At first sight, Mars delivers a fresh design language. Transparent bulwarks along the side decks align with floor-to-ceiling glazing in the main salon to secure uninterrupted panoramas. Farther forward, where the hull broadens to full-beam, the bulwark’s sculpted contour becomes a dramatic styling blade that intersects the expansive windows—an unexpected gesture that feels both daring and refined.

The owner stepped into the process when the aluminum hull was nearing completion, specifically seeking a metal yacht he views as both superior and efficient. That choice informed Mars’s bespoke hull color, which celebrates the alloy’s character. Under the skin, aluminum construction enables a double-bottom structure, neatly accommodating black water and fuel oil tanks. Their placement contributes to a low center of gravity and ensures straightforward access for service.

MCP rose to the challenge of tailoring Mars to the owner’s brief. “He benefited from a shorter wait for delivery—around 12 months,” notes Chaves. “From there, he personalized Mars’s interior drawing on charter experiences across the globe.” His input spanned everything from the feel of a closet pull to the cohesive aesthetic of all five suites, with the owner’s stateroom on the main deck forward and four guest cabins on the lower deck.

The master suite’s ambiance and footprint reflect preferences refined aboard other superyachts. A private study greets you at the entry, outfitted with two computers for working at sea and a television for downtime. Within the suite, a generous dressing room, an intimate lounge area and dual bathrooms positioned forward frame a dramatic central rain shower that elevates daily rituals into spa-like moments.

In the initial general arrangement, the galley occupied the port side of the main deck. However, as the owner primarily uses Mars for business-oriented day cruising, he requested a reconfiguration that reorganized both crew and culinary spaces. Given that the crew does not reside aboard for extended periods, the plan dispensed with a dedicated captain’s cabin.

A spacious, professional galley—sized to cater comfortably for two- to three-day trips—now occupies the lower deck forward, where the captain’s quarters were originally slated. Just ahead, the crew area remains intentionally simple: two cabins arranged with triple berths sleep up to six, and one bathroom separates the shower from the toilet for practical circulation. A pantry on the main deck, connected to the galley below, streamlines service and keeps hospitality seamless.

The flow aboard is purposefully defined, with crew and service circulation to port and guest life unfolding to starboard. Privacy thus remains intact, while guests enjoy unfettered access to a bar, wine display, dining space and a dayhead discreetly off the main salon. A 75-inch television is concealed within a sleek panel behind the dining table—part of a network of 14 screens across the yacht that keeps the owner plugged into his business universe. To starboard, a sliding door opens from the dining area to a drop-down balcony, the glass panel beneath your feet offering a playful window to the sea below.

Built to RINA class and adhering to international standards, Mars embraces full onboard automation, enabling operation via tablet or smartphone. A remote interface allows navigation from anywhere on deck through a handheld device, including starting and stopping the engines and controlling both bow and stern thrusters. The system is so intuitive and secure that you can fire up the yacht, ease her off the dock, head out, and bring her safely back, all while managing the controls from shore.

The raised pilothouse affords commanding visibility and a calm, protected helm. An in-house software suite developed by MCP logs the vessel’s navigation data and centralizes oversight of key systems—engines, generators, navigation lights, batteries, pumps and more—while communicating with the yacht’s broader network for cohesive control and monitoring.

Life al fresco is a highlight on the flybridge, conceived as a social haven with a dining table for eight, a full bar with grill, a capacious spa pool crowned by a waterfall, discreet water misters and an expansive sunpad that welcomes a crowd. A generous beach club amplifies the resort atmosphere, integrating a full kitchen tucked behind a sit-down bar, a dayhead, a shower and a shared sauna. Accessed through a large automated transom door, it becomes the natural hub for waterside living and on-the-water leisure.

Comfort at sea was a central mandate, and acoustic engineering received careful attention. Below the waterline, the engine room benefits from comprehensive sound insulation, reducing vibration and hush levels to preserve a tranquil onboard environment underway and at anchor.

Power comes from twin 1,825 hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT V12 diesels, giving Mars the stamina and performance expected of a premium performance motor yacht. At 10.5 knots, she delivers an impressive 4,000-nautical-mile range with total fuel consumption of just 87 litres per hour, underscoring her efficiency as a long-range cruiser. When schedules tighten, she settles into a swift 20-knot fast cruise, with the responsiveness and composure that define a modern aluminum yacht.

A fully appointed navigation center integrates a plotter, autopilot, compass, GPS, VHF, and radar supported by a radar detector, while an onboard computer ties systems together. Entertainment is equally refined, with a TV set, DVD player, radio, and cockpit speakers delivering clear sound and picture underway or at anchor.

Onboard comfort and control are assured by Seakeeper stabilization, bow and stern thrusters, and both electric and manual bilge pumps.
