Overview
TESORO Yachts unveiled the T38 Outboard at the 2023 Miami Beach Boat Show, offering both inboard and outboard power options. This contemporary walkaround dayboat embodies the marque’s core virtues—secure handling, swift performance, and plush comfort—wrapped in a distinctive, design-forward silhouette. Perfect for coastal cruising and day boating, it delivers the poise and practicality expected of a luxury motor yacht and sport yacht in this class.
A generous open deck, certified for 12 guests, is paired with a four-berth layout below, featuring one double and one twin. There’s a proper toilet with a separate shower, plus an oversized storage garage for water toys and gear. The signature bow sunpad invites relaxed lounging in total confidence, even underway. As an open yacht and express cruiser, the T38 blends sociable spaces with refined detailing for effortless enjoyment on the water.
The emergence of a new shipyard is increasingly rare, yet the Tesoro T40 Cruiser proves exceptional—crafted by seasoned, driven professionals to meet today’s market with one of the standout propositions in its segment. Beyond being a superb day cruiser and weekender, it excels as a premium, exclusive superyacht tender, chase boat, or giga/mega yacht support craft.
Built pedigree matters: Tesoro Yachts are constructed in Murcia, Spain—the same facility where Sir Ben Ainslie’s British America’s Cup team developed their foiling race boats. With that technical lineage, Tesoro’s obsession with refinement is evident everywhere you look, from immaculate fit and finish to elevated materials and execution.
Detailed Description
Tesoro T38 outboard - Imperial Blue Metallic edition
A modern dayboat with the soul of a thoroughbred, the Tesoro T38 balances safety, speed and sumptuous comfort with a singular style and personality that makes every coastal cruise or day on the water feel effortless. Its expansive exterior is homologated for 12 passengers, while below you’ll find four proper berths arranged as a welcoming open bow cabin with a double bed and a separate mid‑cabin with two generous singles, complemented by a toilet with a separate shower. A large storage garage swallows toys and gear, and a unique bow sunpad invites relaxed lounging in complete security, even under way. Beyond being a perfect day cruiser or weekender, the T38 is also a premium, exclusive and elegant super‑tender to serve a mega or giga yacht.
This Imperial Blue Metallic edition is richly specified with technology and finish. At the helm, two Raymarine 16‑inch displays with Wi‑Fi integrate sounder, GPS and VHF, while the Huracan T‑Top style hardtop features a dedicated sun roof area and LED lighting, plus an electric extending sunshade that deploys seamlessly from the structure. Cold storage is generous thanks to three INOX Isotherm refrigerators, two outside and one inside, and the teak underfoot is echoed by teak cap rails for a warm, yachting ambiance. Details delight: pop‑in/pop‑out stainless cleats, a teak cockpit table at the stern with folding wings and a second table with a manual lift system that converts to a solarium with Silvertex cushions, and even a special coffee machine discreetly fitted in an interior locker. Power is entrusted to two Mercury Verado 300 hp outboards, with engines painted to match the yacht’s sleek aesthetic, aided by a bow thruster for precision close‑quarters handling and underwater lights for drama at anchor. Long‑range ease is assured by a 5 kW generator, tropical‑spec air conditioning, 12 V and USB connections inside and out, and a water heater, while the exterior upholstery in Silvertex is finished with elegant diamond stitching. Practical protection comes via helm seat covers, a cover for the helm and cockpit door, dedicated engine covers, and an aft seat and table cover. Entertainment is elevated by a 22‑inch mirror TV in the bow cabin, and docking is made simpler with eight fenders supplied with covers and dedicated fender hooks.
Built pedigree lends gravitas to the gloss. The T38 is crafted at Tesoro Yachts’ Murcian shipyard in Spain, the same facility where Sir Ben Ainslie’s British America’s Cup team built their flying boats. This exceptional technical heritage shows everywhere, with uncompromising attention to fit and finish—wherever the eye falls, the execution is superb.
On deck, the walkthrough reveals a yacht designed for effortless movement and sociable living. There’s space for a big bow sunpad and a generous walkaround linking bow and stern, and amidships a convivial dinette with two opposing benches flanks a double‑wing table, shaded by an electrically folding bimini that deploys elegantly from the hardtop. The steps to the bow are broad, the internal freeboards notably deep, and after two low risers you reach a large, protected sunpad forward. The pivoting anchor system hides the gear entirely within the bow, preserving a beautifully slightly curved sheer in striking contrast to the straight lines that prevail in the market, while the stem itself feels confidently, even playfully, classic rather than rigidly upright.
Accommodation surprises with light and volume. Four windows create a natural “skylight effect,” and the interior is thoughtfully divided into three areas: an open bow cabin with a double bed; an enclosed head with a separate, full‑height shower; and a second cabin with two very spacious single berths arranged lengthwise under the helm and aft of the companionway. The ambiance is calm and contemporary, with light tones, fine carpentry and careful indirect lighting enhancing stowage and liveability.
The Tesoro story itself is one of bold expertise. Launched as a new brand with seasoned hands, Tesoro Yachts presented the T38 Cruiser in Düsseldorf in January 2020; with just over a year and a half of shipyard life at that point, the company chose a decisive length of 38 feet to enter the most competitive segment—and did so with confidence. Founders Juan Olivares and Andrés Martínez define the product succinctly: an easy boat—safe, comfortable, effortless to run and maneuver—meticulously ergonomic both on deck and below.
Beneath the beauty is a hull that simply works. The T38 adopts a classic form without “orthopedics”: clean, pure lines, a clear bow and a V with excellent wave passage and superb planing ability. It is not a racer; it is a high‑comfort, safe, uncomplicated cruiser. As a Day Cruiser or Weekender, the T38 offers shading forward and aft that deploys from the hardtop. The deck is of the sundeck type, with a raised bow occupied by a solarium over the cabin roof, complemented by a second aft solarium that extends when the backrest of the dinette sofa tilts forward. The main aft zone flows between the solarium and the dinette via a clever folding backrest with headrest, while two side steps provide direct access to the bathing platforms so you can pass easily from one side to the other. There is clear space to raise both Mercury outboards fully; with a touch of the tilt button the propellers lift clear of the water. The twin stern platforms are level with the cockpit deck to allow easy passage in front of the engines.
Reboarding from the sea is easy for every age thanks to a ladder with pool‑type railings, complemented by a freshwater shower for rinsing off. Thoughtful details abound: the name embroidered on the upholstery, stainless handrails flanking the sundeck, stern night doors, and a large teak table with two folding wings creating a phenomenal central dinette. Freed by the space‑saving outboards, a huge locker beneath the aft solarium offers cavernous stowage.
True to the dayboat brief, the galley module is set outside, opposite the cabin entrance and alongside three individual helm seats for the pilot and two companions. This compact, capable unit provides a gas stove, a stainless steel sink and a refrigerator below. The deck plan is practically impeccable, with wide, high side steps that guarantee total protection and a dry ride, while a vast, compartmentalized stern chest swallows gear of serious size. The design is restrained and purposeful—no useless frills—so that every element serves to enhance life aboard.
At the helm the T38 is both elegant and confidence‑inspiring. The console is large enough for two big screens, with a centered wheel, a supportive footrest and a discreetly styled windshield that offers ample protection. The ergonomics and shielding of the position are ideal, and the bases of the folding seats let you drive standing or seated with full visibility. Electronic engine levers are perfectly placed and light to the touch. Sober, well‑considered ergonomics testify to the designers’ common sense. The Huracan hard top is standard on this Cruiser version.
Construction quality underpins the performance. Additional grab points, fine‑tuned details, elevated finishes and, above all, higher‑grade build with sandwich reinforcements along the sides combine with vacuum‑infused resin to reduce overall weight by almost a ton while increasing rigidity and lightness. With two Mercury Verado 300 hp inline sixes and fair sea and wind conditions, the T38 will reach 39 knots at the top end; for an easy, efficient rhythm, 25 knots at 4,350 rpm is a sweet spot.
