Detailed Description
1999 Fountaine Pajot Maryland 37 Knotty Cat
Knotty Cat presents in above-average condition throughout, backed by a recent survey dated July 2025 commissioned for insurance update and review. Purpose-built for efficient, confidence-inspiring coastal cruising, she carries a 2015 Rigid Boats 12’ tender powered by a 2021 Tohatsu 30HP outboard, launched and retrieved with ease via a custom electric, remote-controlled davit lift. Reliable autonomous power comes from a Panda 8000NE generator (2005) that was completely rebuilt in 2015 and received a full service in January 2026, while a major 2025 electrical upgrade adds three 410W solar panels, a Victron inverter/charger, Smart Shunt monitoring and four Victron 330Ah lithium batteries for robust, modern energy management both underway and at anchor.
Command and control are intuitive and redundant with dual helm stations featuring Glendinning electronic engine controls with synchronization, complemented by the original Morse controls for fail-safe backup. The Garmin electronics suite includes two Garmin 943XSV chart-plotters and a Garmin GHC-20 autopilot with remote, delivering clear situational awareness and fingertip course-keeping from either helm.
Onboard comforts elevate extended cruising: the upgraded galley features an induction cooktop, a microwave-oven, multiple refrigeration and freezer units and contemporary countertop appliances to make provisioning effortless. The Spectra Catalina 340-Z water-maker produces 340 gallons per day, fully automatic with flush and backwash systems, while a Brownie’s Electric dive compressor—operable from shore power or generator—adds true adventure capability. A custom digital touchscreen tank monitoring system, installed in 2020, replaces the original gauges with precise, at-a-glance status for all fluids.
Beneath the waterline, her stewardship is exemplary. A major 2024 haul-out introduced new prop shafts, fresh cutlass bearings, balanced props, reseated through-hulls and a PropSpeed treatment for clean running efficiency. The subsequent 2025 refit haul-out was even more comprehensive: the bottom was stripped to gelcoat, sealed with an epoxy barrier coat and protected with new antifouling; new engine mounts, new shaft seals, meticulous alignment and upgraded fuel filtration systems round out a refit regimen aimed squarely at reliability, smoothness and long-term protection. Thoughtfully upgraded and diligently maintained, Knotty Cat stands ready to deliver quiet efficiency, responsive handling and turnkey comfort on every passage.
