Detailed Description

ARON M-80 flying shipadvanced hybrid maritime transportation next-generation hull technology

Crafted from advanced hybrid composite materials with carbon fiber bonding and vacuum infusion techniques, the ARON Flying Ship achieves a structure that is stronger, lighter, and faster than traditional boats or amphibious aircraft, while remaining highly resistant to corrosion and the rigors of the marine environment. This cutting-edge build is also exceptionally fuel-efficient, enabling smoother, swifter operation over water with markedly reduced consumption.

Interior configurations are purpose-built for versatility. Specify club seating for four passengers, set up ferry service layouts accommodating six to eight passengers, or select commercial and logistics arrangements offering up to 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg) of cargo capacity with large cargo doors for rapid loading and unloading. Whatever the mission, the ARON adapts with ease.

Eco-friendly and economical by design, the craft exploits the Wing-In-Ground effect to deliver up to 65% less fuel use than helicopters and up to 75% less than traditional boats or seaplanes, yielding lower operating costs and a meaningfully reduced environmental footprint.

Stability and safety are engineered in from the keel up. A trimaran hull design ensures excellent stability in sea states with wave heights up to 5.9 ft, while more than 100,000 test miles flown to date attest to proven reliability. Performance parameters include a climb rate of 12 ft/sec and an operational ceiling of 150 meters (500 ft). The craft is built to RINA and KR standards, with MCA and USCG certifications available, and is compliant with Category A and B under IMO WIG craft classifications.

Minimal infrastructure is required to operate and deploy. The ARON launches via a portable floating pontoon system and is trailer-transportable, with removable wings and a four-point lift harness for streamlined logistics. It is ideal for remote locations, undeveloped regions, or superyacht deployment.

Operational efficiency meets low-maintenance practicality. The composite build eliminates through-hulls and minimizes corrosion, while simplified systems reduce moving parts and service requirements. A quick washdown post-use is typically sufficient. Power comes from the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34, backed by a global service and support network.

Passenger comfort and safety are paramount. A smooth air-cushion ride at 25 ft virtually eliminates vibration and reduces motion sickness, while optional shock-mounted seating, leather trim, and air conditioning elevate on-board refinement. An AI-enhanced night/day vision camera and a 360° Lookout system provide full situational awareness, complemented by Garmin marine electronics with radar, AIS, and telemetry for global, real-time monitoring.

The ARON M-80 is mission-ready across a broad spectrum of applications, including Surveillance and Recon, Search and Rescue, Marine Patrol and Light Defense, Anti-Submarine Operations, Passenger Ferry and Tourism, Offshore Logistics and Express Freight, Ambulance and Emergency Evacuation, and Water Taxi and Yacht Tender Support.

Powerplant & propulsion: ARON M-80 flying ship

The M-80 is powered by the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34 turboprop engine, a globally proven powerplant with more than five decades of service history and comprehensive worldwide support. Running on Jet-A, it delivers dependable, consistent performance across a wide range of environments and duty cycles.

A Hartzell four-blade propeller, engineered specifically for saltwater service, pairs to the engine and features a tungsten-coated leading edge for extended life and durability. Operating at a low, constant 2,200 RPM, this configuration yields exceptional efficiency, reduced noise, and heightened reliability—perfect for long-duration, low-altitude WIG missions.

Performance oversight is intuitive and complete, with an EMS LCD digital display providing real-time readouts for RPM, oil temperature, oil pressure, outside air temperature (OAT), interstage turbine temperature (ITT), fuel level, flow and pressure, voltage, ammeter, and hour meter. For advanced operations, an optional full telemetry system enables remote engine and craft diagnostics.

Range is mission-ready: standard reach is 350 nautical miles with reserves, and an optional extended tank adds a further 200 nautical miles.

Powerplant: P&WC PT6A-34

Manufacturer: Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC). Model: PT6A-34. Output: 750 HP. Maximum RPM: 2,200. Fuel type: Jet-A. This best-in-class turboprop has been in continuous production since 1964, with more than 51,000 engines delivered worldwide, and is supported by unmatched service, training programs, and maintenance through P&WC’s global network.

The propeller system is a Hartzell four-blade D4N-3YLX featuring tungsten-coated leading edges for saltwater resistance and extended blade life, with constant-speed, feathering, and reversible pitch functionality. It is optimized for low-RPM, high-reliability WIG operations.

Performance and monitoring are fully modern. Telemetry-ready options allow remote monitoring for charter or commercial fleets via a central command center, while the digital EMS display tracks RPM, oil temperature and pressure, ITT, OAT, fuel flow, level and pressure, volts, amps, and hour meter.

Serviceability is straightforward, with scheduled service intervals every 600 hours and a Time Between Overhaul (TBO) of 5,000 hours.
