CHANTICLEER: An Enduring Emblem of Yachting Mastery
CHANTICLEER remains one of the true Grand Dames of the sea, a pedigree motor yacht that radiates provenance, artisanal build quality, and refined grace. Originally commissioned by Ogden Phipps and launched as BUCKPASSER, she is a celebrated Jack Hargrave design. At her debut, she stood as the largest yacht ever delivered by Burger Boat Company and the first in the yard’s history to incorporate a helipad, a defining milestone for this renowned American builder.
In 1986, the iconic singer, actress, and philanthropist Frances Langford ushered in a storied new era for CHANTICLEER. A devoted yachtswoman, she added a cockpit to embrace her passion for angling, elevating the yacht’s versatility and appeal. For nearly twenty years, she welcomed family, friends, and distinguished guests aboard, turning CHANTICLEER into a beloved sanctuary of hospitality and delight until her passing in 2005.
Thereafter, CHANTICLEER passed into the hands of equally discerning custodians who safeguarded her legacy with vigilant care, strategic enhancements, and exacting standards. In 2006, she underwent a comprehensive, multimillion-dollar, two-year rebuild. Her latest owner, who acquired her in 2023, executed substantial refit works that present her in pristine condition, harmonizing her celebrated heritage with contemporary comfort, reliability, and systems befitting a classic superyacht.
Today, CHANTICLEER is prepared for her next voyage under new stewardship. With the current owner pursuing a larger yacht, this remarkable classic yacht is now offered for sale—an uncommon opportunity to acquire a significant chapter of yachting history, uniting old-world elegance with the luxurious amenities and functionality expected in the modern era.
Whether undertaking bluewater passages or entertaining with timeless sophistication, CHANTICLEER is far more than a luxury yacht—she is a legacy in motion. For connoisseurs who prize history, craftsmanship, and distinction, CHANTICLEER awaits her next caretaker to carry her extraordinary narrative forward.
