Overview

You’ve likely never encountered a yacht quite like this. Fewer than fifty were hand-built on St. Simons Island, Georgia, from the late 1940s through the 1950s, and their aura endures. The craftsmanship and on‑water poise eclipse other vintage boats in her peer group, with an 11.5‑foot beam creating a generous walkaround open cockpit where six to eight adults can relax in comfort. Power is delivered by twin 350 C.I. fuel‑injected Sea Max gasoline engines showing approximately 400 hours, providing confident, spirited performance befitting a luxury powerboat.

Believed to be the last surviving Emancipator, this is a singular chance to acquire a better‑than‑new classic motor yacht—part vintage runabout, part express cruiser—that turns heads, rides beautifully, and exceeds 40 mph, settling into an easy 30‑plus‑knot cruise. Recent enhancements include a complete repower, fresh topside varnish, and new cushions, leaving the boat in outstanding condition and ready as an elegant day boat or collector’s jewel.

Blackwell Boatworks has meticulously documented the full restoration, preserving a comprehensive photographic record of this remarkable yacht’s renewal.

Detailed Description

Specifications

Crafted with classic plank-on-frame integrity and mahogany strip-plank elegance, this hull has been sheathed inside and out with the West System for enduring strength, stiffness, and long-lasting protection. Thoughtful upgrades include a Raymarine GPS/sounder for confident navigation, a rich-sounding Fusion Stereo for soundtracked passages, and a comprehensive gauge package for clear, at-a-glance systems awareness. Generous seating for 10 makes entertaining effortless, while her provenance speaks to pedigree: built at Sea Island, Georgia, and expertly restored in North Carolina. In 2008, a full restoration commenced with Blackwell Custom Boatworks in North Carolina, during which most of the ribs were renewed and over 80% of the frame and bottom were replaced. Completed in 2011, the painstaking refit delivered a finely finished, truly one-of-a-kind wooden showboat. Blackwell Boatworks maintains a complete, photo-documented history of the restoration on their website.

About

You have never seen a boat quite like this. Only about 50 were built in St. Simons, Georgia, from the late 1940s through the 1950s, and her craftsmanship and performance stand well above comparable vintage peers. With an 11.5-foot beam and a remarkably roomy, walk-around open cockpit, she welcomes gatherings with ease; six to eight adults settle in comfortably and cruise in style. Power comes from twin 350 C.I. fuel-injected gasoline Sea Max engines showing just 400 total hours, delivering lively acceleration and ample top-end. Celebrated as the last known Emancipator in existence worldwide, she represents a singular opportunity to own a living piece of nautical history. Better than new, she turns heads wherever she goes, rides beautifully, and reaches speeds in excess of 40 mph with a confident 30-plus-knot cruise. Recent enhancements include a repower, current topside varnish, and new cushions, all underscoring her fantastic overall condition.
