Overview
Purchased in Maine in 2016, this stunning vessel was expertly navigated back to Lake Ontario by her owner and crew. This well-appointed trawler is perfect for those looking to live aboard or embark on the Great Loop adventure! The hull has been meticulously washed and waxed, the teak has been rejuvenated, and varnishing has been completed where necessary in the spring of 2020. She is currently docked in Wilson, NY, making her an ideal option for yacht sales in the current boat location.
Equipped with twin 220HP Cummins diesel engines, a spacious queen aft stateroom, and a Northern Lights generator, this yacht offers a comfortable and luxurious cruising experience. With four reverse cycle AC/Heat units and an inverter, you can enjoy all the comforts of home while at sea. Additionally, a dinghy with an outboard motor is included, enhancing your cruising setup. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to buy a yacht that combines elegance with functionality!
Detailed Description
Accommodations
The Grand Banks 36 offers a classic and elegant interior, featuring the preferred island queen aft layout. The interior is beautifully finished with full teak joinery, including teak parquet soles throughout. The original owner enhanced the yacht with custom book racks and cabinets, providing more storage than most other GB 36 models. The interior is bright and airy, thanks to numerous opening ports and windows that allow natural light and ventilation. For artificial lighting, well-placed reading and dome lights ensure excellent illumination throughout. Comfort is assured with reverse cycle air conditioning, which provides both heating and cooling, making the yacht suitable for season-extending cruises or the hottest days. A Sony CDX-F50M AM/FM/Stereo CD receiver, installed in 2007, plays music through dual speakers located in the Salon, Aft Cabin, and Flying Bridge.
Starting at the bow, the Forward Stateroom features a large V-berth with bin-type storage below, complemented by a teak hull ceiling overhead. Additional storage is available with two drawers and two lockers beneath the V-berth. A large hanging locker is located just aft of the port berth, while the Guest Head, featuring a Groco electric W.C., ensuite shower, vanity, and sink with hot and cold pressure water, is situated opposite to starboard. The Main Salon, Lower Helm Station, and Galley are accessed by ascending three steps. The lower helm, located to starboard, is equipped with full engine instrumentation, the yacht's electrical distribution system, and navigational electronics. The Galley, positioned opposite to port, includes a large single basin sink with hot and cold pressure water, ample counter space, and storage. It is equipped with a Force 10 three-burner propane stove and oven, and Grunert holding plate refrigeration.
The Main Salon features an L-settee to starboard with storage underneath and a fixed drop-leaf teak dining table with bottle and magazine storage below. Forward of the L-settee is a cabinet housing a U-line ice maker, new in 2002, with glass and bottle storage further forward. A starboard access door is located here as well. Opposite to port, just aft of the galley, is a port side door and a short bench settee with storage in a drop-face locker underneath. All windows are adorned with off-white drapes, and there are numerous custom book racks aft, along with a custom cabinet for stereo equipment.
Descending three steps leads to the Master Stateroom, which features the preferred island queen layout. The stateroom was repainted during the winter of 2012/13, and new light fixtures were installed. The 60" x 80" berth offers drawer storage underneath, including a chart drawer and two deep storage drawers, a hidden cabinet with a safe, and a custom gun cabinet with a lock. To starboard, there is a bureau, several large drawers under the side decks, and a voluminous hanging locker. To port, a second bureau and additional large drawers and lockers are found under the side decks. The standard GB aft cabin companionway and ladder provide egress onto the aft deck if desired. The Master Head is generously sized, featuring a Groco electric W.C., ensuite shower, vanity, and sink with hot and cold pressure water, along with ample storage.
The yacht is equipped with a range of additional features, including a Sony AM/FM/CD system, Weems & Plath 4" brass clock and barometer, a Vetus electric barograph, a propane solenoid, a carbon monoxide detector and alarm, and a fire alarm. The galley is well-appointed with a large single basin sink, Force 10 three-burner propane stove and oven, and Grunert holding plate refrigeration. The electrical system is robust, with wiring for both 12-volt DC and 110-volt AC service. An 8KW Northern Lights genset handles heavier loads when off the dock, while a 3,000-watt Xantrex inverter manages lighter loads. The yacht's electronics include a Garmin 3206C with all East US Coast and Lake Ontario Charts, Furuno 1940 4kw radar, Robertson AP200DL autopilot, and Icom M126DSC VHF, among others.
Mechanically, the yacht is powered by Cummins 220 HP diesels with 28" three-bladed props on 2" shafts through Twin Disc 2:1 reduction gears. The shafts, couplings, and cutlass bearings were renewed in 2001, and the engine mounts were replaced between 2002 and 2004. The yacht features dual Racor fuel filters, an Algae X system, Morse engine controls, and a Halon 1301 fire extinguisher system for the engine room. The hull and deck are constructed of solid fiberglass with molded-in plank lines and a stainless-capped rub strake. The original white gel coat is in excellent condition, complemented by a blue boot top. The bottom of the yacht was peeled in 2001 and relaid with two new layers of fiberglass in vinylester resin. The house and decks are partially cored, with a teak overlay in very good condition. Teak cap rails, stainless stanchions, and teak safety rails are in superb condition, with the brightwork in excellent condition.
Additional gear includes a Lofrans anchor windlass, a 45 lb CQR with 150' chain, a 25 lb Danforth with 150' rode plus chain, saltwater washdown forward, freshwater washdown aft, a transom shower with hot and cold water, an extended teak swim platform, and an electric dinghy hoist new in 2008. The yacht is equipped with extensive canvas covers, a bimini, weather cloths, flag halyards, spreader and flying bridge lights, folding deck chairs and table, a Hubbel TV/Phone dockside connection, six fenders, canvas rail protectors, ten braided dock lines, five ABC dry chemical fire extinguishers, six PFDs, a flare kit, a bell, Textalline windshield and door covers, a Zodiac C260FR dinghy, a Yamaha 4hp outboard with reverse, a GB Mast & Boom fitted for dinghy hoist with Barient self-tailing hoist winch, miscellaneous stainless steel tableware, cooking utensils, plates, cups, glasses, eight adjustable stanchions new in 2017, a handheld VHF with charger, a full set of original catalogues of equipment, and original handbooks and drawings.
