Detailed Description

Walkthrough

Boarding the 96' 2004 Hargrave Capri Skylounge "B HAPPY" is effortless from the swim platform or through the aft deck side boarding gates, where a generous aft deck welcomes you with a harmonious mix of fixed and freestanding seating. Molded stairs sweep up to the boat deck, while an electric sliding door ushers you into a sunlit salon arranged with an intimate seating group to port and a cleverly concealed pop‑up TV forward to port. Moving ahead, a dining table for six invites convivial dinners, with elegant stairs leading either up to the skylounge or down to the accommodations. Next forward, the expansive country kitchen galley features a large built‑in dinette and a convenient day head. Forward lie two ensuite crew cabins, while the main accommodation stairway descends to a grand full‑beam master cabin aft, complete with his‑and‑hers heads separated by a large tub/shower. Forward waits a king‑size VIP cabin, and between them a twin cabin and a double‑berth cabin, each ensuite. In the skylounge, a built‑in settee and desk complement the pilothouse, which is equipped with updated Navionics, and just aft the boat deck showcases a hot tub and a flexible area for loose seating to complete the elevated alfresco experience.

Salon

Entered through an electric, dark‑glass sliding door, the salon feels brilliantly open thanks to expansive side windows, satin‑finished cherry joinery in a light nut tone accented with Lacewood, and the uninterrupted sightline forward to the galley. Immediately to port is an intimate seating ensemble composed of a three‑person upholstered sofa, two matching chairs, and a substantial marble‑topped coffee table with storage below, flanked at the outboard sofa corners by round Lacewood‑topped side tables crowned with table lamps. All the way aft a lit art niche sits above an A/C cabinet, while forward of the couch a storage cabinet and a low credenza delineate salon from dining and harbor within a pop‑up 40” Samsung 4K LED TV. To starboard on entry, a curved four‑door cabinet houses the entertainment system and primarily serves as refined liquor storage. Further forward, a bank of twelve storage cabinets with a gracefully curved center segment and an elegant Lacewood horizontal surface unites function with artistry. Port and starboard, large side windows wear new navy‑blue blackout Roman shades, above which a curved soffit hides new LED rope lighting; twenty‑eight overhead LED halogen mini spots, soffit‑style A/C delivery, and four stereo speakers complete the ambiance. The newly carpeted sole is protected by a removable Sunbrella runner, and the space also features digital A/C controls, ample 110V outlets, and a smoke/fire sensor.

Dining salon

Open to the main salon yet subtly defined by the TV cabinet aft, the dining salon mirrors the oval form of its centerpiece table in the ceiling detail. Eight upholstered high‑back chairs encircle the table, while eight cherry cabinets and four drawers around the perimeter graciously house tableware and accessories. Overhead, the oval ceiling feature hosts six LED lights, and forward a marble‑topped four‑door cabinet offers the perfect stage for prized artwork above. To starboard, a glass‑front stemware cabinet adds sparkle, and nearby the stairs invite you up to the skylounge or down to the accommodation deck, with the day head discreetly at hand. Thirteen LED mini spots and two stereo speakers enrich the scene, and large side‑deck windows to port and starboard, dressed in new navy‑blue blackout Roman shades, bathe the space in soft, controlled light.

Day head

Generous in size and beautifully appointed, the day head presents a bow‑front cherry vanity with three cabinet doors, a white china sink set on an Absolute Black granite countertop, and satin‑finished cherry walls. The full‑size Headhunter toilet underscores comfort, while the Emperador Light marble sole framed by an Absolute Black border adds refined contrast. A mirrored ceiling with four LED lights and an exhaust fan ensures the space feels bright, fresh, and impeccably finished.

Galley

Just forward behind a sliding cherry pocket door, the country kitchen galley is flooded with natural light from eleven windows, with appliances thoughtfully arranged port and starboard and a central island providing abundant storage below. Ubatuba granite in a green‑grey hue unifies the worktops, complementing twenty‑seven white‑lacquer cabinet doors and six matching drawers. Culinary capability is elevated by a GE Profile six‑burner Ceran‑top cooktop (new 2024), a GE Profile stainless steel double‑door wall oven (new 2023), and an LG stainless built‑in microwave with work light and exhaust fan (new 2023). Cold storage impresses with a Samsung stainless French‑door fridge/freezer (new 2023), a Fisher & Paykel stainless two‑drawer dishwasher (new 2023), two stainless Sub‑Zero fridge drawers to starboard, two stainless Sub‑Zero freezer drawers to starboard, and a Sub‑Zero glass‑door wine cooler to starboard. A Franke undermount stainless sink with a black removable spray faucet and a GE disposal completes the prep area, while a 31” LG 4K LED TV, sixteen overhead LED mini spots, and Lonseal faux‑teak sole enhance everyday ease. The granite‑topped island features six cabinet doors and four large utensil drawers, a raised settee seats four to five at a granite table on twin wood pedestal bases, and a five‑shelf pantry keeps stores shipshape. New Roman shades dress the forward windows, a starboard side‑deck pantograph door with wood trim offers quick deck access, and safety is underscored by a smoke/fire detector, digital A/C controls, and two fresh‑water gauges.

Helm equipment

The pilothouse presents a modern, redundancy‑rich suite: a Garmin 72‑mile 6’ open‑array radar (new 2021) feeds a Garmin 8616 multi‑function display for radar/plotter/depth (new 2021) paired with a Garmin 1243 MFD for radar/plotter/depth (new 2021), while a 19” color monitor serves Nobeltec Navigation supported by the latest Nobeltec charting software, and a dedicated 19” color CCTV monitor watches over the yacht. Autopilot precision comes from a Simrad A‑20 (new 2023), complemented by a Raymarine ST 60+ depth and a Simrad wind instrument (new 2023). Communications are assured by an ICOM M604 VHF with DSC (new 2023) alongside an ICOM M605 VHF with DSC. Engine data is displayed on two CAT LCD engine monitors, with a Furuno GP33 GPS/data unit (new 2020), Furuno Navtex NX‑300, and a Furuno heading sensor adding navigation clarity. Handling is refined with Naiad bow thruster controls, Glendinning fully electronic engine controls (new 2021) plus a Glendinning wired remote for engines, a Danforth 5” magnetic compass, two ACR RCL‑100 searchlights with remotes, and four overhead night navigation lights. Naiad Marine Multisea II digital stabilizer controls, synchronizer controls, three Speich wipers/washers, and two Maxwell windlass controls sit within easy reach, as do monitors for four bilge pumps with high‑water alarm, two Sea‑Fire override controls, five Wema fuel tank gauges, and key start/stop switches. A three‑panel windshield with three pleated sliding shades completes this confident command center.

Forward to port lies a customized queen‑berth ensuite cabin; to starboard, a twin‑berth ensuite; all the way forward, the full‑beam VIP suite awaits. The berth lifts on gas shocks for effortless access to abundant storage. Opposite the bed, a new Samsung 55” 4K LED TV with a Sonos sound bar anchors entertainment. To starboard, two cabinets—one concealing a digital safe—precede a double‑door, cedar‑lined, auto‑lit hanging locker, followed by a vanity with upholstered stool and drawer, and a bank of four drawers further forward; above, behind sliding Shoji screens, two large fixed deadlights draw in soft daylight, and the door to the port his/hers head waits just aft. Foredeck

Elegantly refreshed fiberglass non‑skid decks, recently painted, rise to meet raised fiberglass bulwarks crowned by hoop‑style stainless rails, with ample freeing ports ensuring seakeeping poise. Ground tackle is robust, with two Maxwell 4000 vertical electric windlasses (rebuilt 2023) operated by two up‑and‑down foot switches, feeding two 250 lb stainless steel CQR‑type plow anchors and approximately 300’ of new chain (2023) through two stainless steel anchor chutes. A bow seat with Sunlounge cushions and covers (new 2023) invites relaxation, while three spring‑line cleats per side, international navigation lights now in LED (new 2023), port and starboard hinged side gates, and a starboard cabin‑side pantograph door in the galley enhance utility. Overhead handrails along the house‑side windows add security, all frameless windows were recently recaulked in 2024, two deck‑access chain lockers ease inspection, and a wash‑down spigot at the port locker simplifies cleanup. A bow burgee staff, port and starboard bow dunnage boxes built into the trunk cabin, and low‑level LED lighting—four to port and four to starboard—complete this purposeful foredeck.

Aft deck

A fresh teak‑over‑fiberglass deck (new teak 2023) sets the stage for curved aft seating for four with removable cushions and covers (both renewed 11/20), centered around a large, high‑gloss varnished teak table on twin stainless bases (new 2023) and accompanied by six loose teak chairs with matching cushions and covers (cushions new 2022). Sixteen overhead, stainless‑trimmed LED lights create evening allure, while ten teak‑tread stairs with handrail and step lights lead gracefully to the boat deck (new teak 2022). An aft‑looking CCTV camera (new 5/20) keeps watch, and port and starboard hinged boarding gates simplify access. A seven‑step Marquipt Tide‑Ride ladder with two handrails and a dedicated storage cabinet stands ready, and to port a fiberglass cabinet hides an EdgeStar refrigerator (new 2021). Entertainment carries on with two JL Audio stereo speakers (new 2023), while a quick‑disconnect freshwater hookup, emergency escape hatch from the engine room, and a Maxwell 2200 warping windlass to starboard on the aft deck bolster capability. Port and starboard hinged stainless gates lead to the swim platform, the salon enjoys a new electric sliding door mechanism (pneumatic replaced with electric in 2023), and five teak‑tread steps per side (new teak 2023) with step lights and stainless rails descend to the swim platform. Five stainless hoop rails frame a fiberglass non‑skid integral swim platform, its non‑skid repainted 5/22, with two lockers for electrical and cable TV inlets, three pop‑up fender cleats, an aft‑deck shower cabinet, an emergency fire pull lever in a cabinet, a shore‑water hookup with pressure regulator, two storage lockers for lines and gear, a lazarette access hatch to the steering gear, and a stern door into the engine room with bearing replacement completed ($2300, 6/20).

Hydraulic swim platform

Inspired by the prior owner’s enjoyment of hydraulic swim platforms on his previous 87’ and 108’ yachts, a custom TNT fiberglass hydraulic platform with a 2200 lb capacity was commissioned and installed on B HAPPY ($66,500, 5/20). Before installation, the yacht was hauled at Derecktor’s shipyard to replace the transom foam coring with solid fiberglass in the areas supporting the hydraulic platform arms ($28,000, 5/20), with photos available. The system features removable tender chocks and a stainless steel umbrella‑mount base, the mechanism was rebuilt in 2023, the swim platform length is 60”, and the vessel’s LOA measures 96’ 6” plus 63”, for a total of 101’9”.

Boat deck

The boat deck’s fiberglass non‑skid surface leads from a glass‑and‑stainless sliding hatch over the aft‑deck steps to a Quick‑Lift 2500 lb davit with power rotation featuring a new motor, new cable, and fresh paint, all encircled by stainless hoop rails. A removable six‑step stainless ladder reaches the skylounge hardtop, while a new built‑in Jacuzzi‑brand spa for four to five guests with 36 adjustable jets nestles behind molded access steps with equipment access below and a new hard cover (new 2023). Two LED lights facing aft (new 2/20), a varnished flag staff, and four overhead lights at the skylounge aft brow set the scene, with two JL Audio stereo speakers (new 2023), two throw rings with lights, and a new starboard walk‑behind bar fitted with a Scotsman “wet” icemaker, two fridge drawers, a blue solid‑surface countertop, an undermount stainless bar sink with cover, and four fixed bar stools with covers. Safety and sound meet in a LifeSling, two JT Audio 10” subwoofers, and two JL Audio 6” speakers. A 6’5” boat‑shaped varnished table on two stainless bases with four folding teak chairs invites alfresco dining, while an EPIRB and stainless awning poles with three removable triangle‑shaped shades deliver confidence and comfort under the sun.

Coach roof equipment

Twin ACR searchlights, an electric trumpet horn, and a fiberglass radar mast set the professional tone, crowned by a Garmin 6’ HD2 open‑array radar antenna. Entertainment and data are enabled by KVH SAT TV, TV8 model, paired with a matching dummy dome for visual balance (both new 2/20, $21,000 upgrade). Communications rise on two 8’ and two 16’ VHF antennas, while two Poynting.tech Omni 414 cellular/Wi‑Fi antennas, two hailer horns, two GPS sensors, and a Furuno wind sensor complete the suite. Safety stands ready with two Datrex 12‑person canister life rafts (new Oct 2021) in current certification, an aft‑facing camera, two side‑deck cameras under the hardtop coaming, three Lumitec floodlights on the mast, and two flag halyards.

Engine room

Meticulously maintained, the machinery space reports engine hours of port 3985 and starboard 3985 (Aug. 25, 2025) on twin CAT 3412 main engines rated at 1400 HP, driving through ZF model 1950 A transmissions at a T/ZA ratio of 2.448:1. A comprehensive June 2024 service by Mendol Marine included an oil service; twenty‑four remanufactured fuel injectors; four remanufactured turbos; two new aftercoolers; ZF gear coolers cleaned and tested; and a new oil cooler for the starboard engine. Ride comfort is assured by a Naiad stabilizer system, model 302, with 9 sq ft fins and Multisea digital controls, and waste is treated via a Headhunter Type II system. Fire suppression is handled by two Sea‑Fire FM‑200 systems at 106 lb gross weight each. Each engine is protected by dual Racor 1000s with vacuum gauges, with Tide Seal dripless shaft and rudder seals, 3 1/2” stainless prop shafts, and 4‑blade Nibral 41.5” x 38” main propellers. A Naiad hydraulic seven‑blade bow thruster in a 12” tube delivers precise control, a Jabsco emergency bilge pump on the port engine with electro clutch magneto adds redundancy, and stainless safety rails flank both engines. Fuel management is simplified by an Oberdorfer transfer pump with two Racor 1000 filters and a Reverso six‑point oil change system. Ventilation runs on 220‑volt blowers, Glendinning engine controls include two remotes, and hot water comes from two stainless 40‑gallon heaters (new 4/2020). Generator fuel is filtered by two Racor 500s, with two coolant recovery bottles for the mains and two for the generators, a 104‑gallon waste oil tank, a 100‑gallon black‑water tank, six bilge pumps, and four high‑water alarms. Eight multi‑color underwater lights are managed via a color wheel in the engine room, and Hynautic hydraulic steering cylinders were rebuilt 5/22. Climate is provided by a chilled‑water A/C system with four compressors totaling 144,000 BTU: Compressor 1—36,000 BTU Flow Marine (new 7/20); Compressor 2—36,000 BTU Flow Marine (new 7/20); Compressor 3—36,000 BTU Dometic (new 7/24, $18,000); Compressor 4—36,000 BTU Dometic (new 9/22). Additional equipment includes a US General mounted toolbox with eight drawers, black engine‑room carpet, a freshwater spigot with hose, 110V fluorescent lighting, 24V LED lighting, overhead rod storage for six rods, a Blue Water Desalinization 1500 GPD watermaker (new 2024), a Sea Recovery 1500 GPD watermaker (rebuilt 2024), an Airsep crankcase ventilation system, PTO off the starboard engine and PTO off the starboard transmission for the hydraulic system, a fuel manifold system, a Porter‑Cable 1.8 HP household air compressor, and Delta T engine‑room demisters. Fuel tankage is intelligently distributed: two 336‑gallon tanks outboard of the main engine, two 384‑gallon tanks outboard of the main engine, one 665‑gallon tank below the VIP sole, one 648‑gallon tank below the master sole, and one 660‑gallon tank below the guest companionway sole, for a total of 3413 gallons. Recent upgrades include new exhaust mixers by DeAngelo (2023), new exhaust covers by DeAngelo (2023), an engine‑room CCTV camera, a dedicated engine‑room air handler (new 10/20), main engine seacocks serviced at Derecktor’s shipyard ($6,300, 5/20), and rudders dropped and serviced at Derecktor’s shipyard ($3,000, 5/20).

Electrical

Power distribution is robust and adaptable, with 12V/24V DC and 115V/230V AC 60 Hz systems supported by twin 35 kW Northern Lights generators in sound shields (both new 12/2023), showing port 783 hrs and starboard 568 hrs (Aug. 25, 2025). Two Glendinning CM8 100‑amp shore‑cord systems each carry 100’ cords, while a 12‑volt 30‑amp ProMariner charger for the generators (new 6/2023), a 24‑volt 100‑amp Dolphin Pro charger for house batteries (new 6/22), and a 24‑volt 30‑amp ProMariner charger for the windlass (new 6/2023) keep reserves strong. A Xantrex 100‑watt inverter stands by, and two Hubbell Marine transformers with auto‑boost function (new 10/20) smooth shore power. Dedicated batteries include two 12V forward for windlass systems, two 12V between the engines for generators, four 12V 8D house batteries (new 6/22), and four 12V 8D main engine batteries, all managed via six battery shutoff switches. Two 50‑amp shore‑power inlets at the transom, a comprehensive bonding system, and a Newmar AC/DC converter add resilience. The engine‑room AC panel carries five digital volt/amp meters, a digital frequency meter, AC power management, thirty 230‑volt breaker‑protected circuits with LED indicators replaced as needed, and ten 115‑volt breaker‑protected circuits; a DC voltmeter with an eight‑position digital switch and three 200‑amp DC main breakers sit nearby. A DC 24‑volt panel offers eighteen breaker‑protected circuits. The pilothouse panel features twenty‑four 24V breaker‑protected circuits, an eight‑position digital voltmeter, twelve 12V breaker‑protected circuits, and a digital 12‑volt ammeter/voltmeter. In the crew panel, an AC 230V digital volt/amp meter monitors twelve breaker‑protected 230‑volt circuits and thirty‑two breaker‑protected 15‑volt circuits, alongside a DC 24 digital volt/amp meter, twenty 24‑volt breaker‑protected circuits, four shower‑sump breakers, and a Headhunter Tank Sentry for the waste tank.

Both windlasses were rebuilt and matched to new chain, all exterior cushions and covers were renewed, a new boat‑deck Jacuzzi with cover was installed, and high‑gloss varnished teak tables now adorn both the aft and boat decks. LED lighting, including navigation lights, modernizes the yacht’s profile. Inside, new carpeting throughout with Sunbrella runners, comprehensive LED lighting, all‑new TVs with Sonos and upgraded speakers, and Wi‑Fi and internet enhancements including Starlink elevate life aboard. The crew mess was cleverly converted into freezer and workspace capacity; new salon furniture refreshes the heart of the yacht; most galley appliances were replaced; the salon entry door was converted from pneumatic to electric; all new Zeno mattresses and two sets of bedding were added; two new pairs of washers and dryers were installed; and the navigation electronics were upgraded in a $60,000 program. Note

With the newly added hydraulic platform, the yacht’s LOA now measures 101’9”.

Remarks

Sold successively to the second, third, and current fourth owner, the 96' 2004 Hargrave Capri Skylounge "B HAPPY" is intimately known by the listing agent and has been treated to over one million dollars in upgrades and improvements in 2023/24. No other Hargrave—or comparable motor yacht of this vintage—stands more turn‑key than B HAPPY. Recently equipped for occasional charter, B HAPPY carries redundant safety gear, and with new generators, watermakers, soft goods, AV and navigation equipment, teak decks, appliances, and more, a new owner need only select the tender or tenders to cast off in confidence. Superb condition, gleaming paint, and a motivated seller make this offering truly stand out, and a serious seller will consider trades or partial payment in real estate, exotic cars, RVs, and more.
