Overview

The Usual is a striking, meticulously outfitted and carefully maintained 82’ Horizon luxury motor yacht, showcasing an enclosed flybridge pilothouse that delivers the serene comfort of a skylounge-style Flybridge Yacht. She spent 17 years in freshwater before relocating to South Florida, preserving her finishes and systems from harsh saltwater exposure for most of her life. The interior is generous and practical, offering a 3‑stateroom, 4‑head arrangement with private crew quarters aft adjacent to the engine room—ideal for a Pilothouse Yacht built for extended cruising. Her dependable CAT 3412E powerplants have just received new exhaust components and are running smooth and strong. Since 2018 she has benefited from a thoughtful refit, including a full helm electronics suite, radar, and FLIR added in 2018, plus over $450,000 in recent upgrades within the last 14 months. She presents exceptionally well for her vintage, and a comprehensive spreadsheet details completed work, timelines, and costs—underscoring a turnkey Flybridge Motor Yacht ready for bluewater cruising and luxury yachting.

Detailed Description

Full specifications

Yacht walkthrough. Welcome aboard, The Usual! Boarding is via starboard or port bulwark doors with a passerelle, bringing you onto the aft main deck where a generous settee, a large dining table, teak decking, and both overhead and recessed lighting create an inviting setting for open-air meals and effortless entertaining. Two aft bulwark doors descend to the transom swim platform. From the aft main deck, a sliding glass door admits you to the interior, while broad walkways to both starboard and port lead forward along the foredeck to midship and the bow.

Entering from the aft deck, the salon greets you with abundant natural light pouring through large windows on both sides, illuminating the headliners and making the Cherrywood cabinetry glow. To port, stairs descend to the crew quarters and the engine room. Forward to port, a large sofa accompanies a hi‑gloss Cherrywood table, while to starboard a long counter conceals versatile storage, media components, and a pop‑up TV integrated with an upgraded Sonos sound system.

Forward of the salon, the galley to port concentrates all the cooking appliances, refrigeration, and freezer capacity, while the day head sits to starboard. All the way forward, a dinette with barstools and a U‑shaped settee enjoys commanding views. Midship doors to both port and starboard open directly to the foredeck. Starboard‑side aft stairs rise to the enclosed flybridge pilothouse, and starboard‑side forward steps lead down to the companionway and staterooms. Step outside via either midship door and the foredeck carries you to the bow, where a large sunpad, a forward settee, and the anchor equipment await.

Descending the forward staircase, you arrive at the companionway serving the owner’s and guest accommodations. A full‑beam master aft features a centerline king bed, richly finished Cherrywood cabinetry, and his‑and‑hers separate heads joined by a large centerline shower. To port, a twin stateroom with side‑by‑side berths enjoys an ensuite head. All the way forward, the VIP presents a centerline queen bed, Cherrywood cabinetry, and an ensuite head.

Climbing the aft staircase from the galley brings you to the enclosed bridge pilothouse, home to the main helm with a suite of state‑of‑the‑art Garmin electronics to ensure precise navigation. This elevated space also offers a settee with a hi‑gloss teak table, a captain’s desk, a Samsung TV, and an aft sliding glass door to the enclosed flybridge aft deck. Aft, the flybridge deck features a large sofa with a teak table, teak sole, a manual canopy shade cover, and a staircase down to the aft main deck.

The engine room and crew quarters are accessed either via the large centerline transom door or by the port‑side interior steps from the salon.

Yacht highlights. A three‑stateroom, four‑head layout sleeps 6 guests, complemented by separate two‑stateroom crew quarters for up to 4 crew. Throughout, Cherrywood cabinetry and panels elevate the interior. The enclosed flybridge pilothouse is equipped with a comprehensive Garmin suite that includes three 8622 MFD touchscreen displays (all new 2018), and the yacht further benefits from bow and stern thrusters, a FLIR M625‑S thermal camera, and two hydraulic Maxwell windlasses with 175 lb anchors. The galley is fitted with top‑of‑the‑line appliances, while exterior living is enhanced by a bow sunpad and settee. Entertainment is seamless with Samsung TVs in every room and an upgraded Sonos sound system. Access flexibility comes from four bulwark doors. Cruising autonomy is supported by a SeaRecovery watermaker, two Raritan hot water heaters, and upgraded five‑blade propellers paired with Naiad 254 stabilizers. Night operations are aided by two ACR searchlights, and reliability is bolstered by a bottom job with PropSpeed on the running gear in 2024 and a soundproof engine room.

Engines. Twin CAT 3412 engines rated 1450 hp each show 4118 hours on the starboard main and 4141 hours on the port main, with the last engine service completed June 06, 2025. Generators are twin Northern Lights 32 kW units with sound shields showing 4208 hours (port) and 4201 hours (starboard). Underway stabilization is via Naiad 254 stabilizers, and the yacht is fitted with bow and stern thrusters.

Recent yard period. At Apex Marine Shipyard, May/June 2025, the yacht was hauled out; the bottom was repainted/coated; chiller seawater strainers were refitted; the chiller water pump and the chiller seawater pump were replaced; the engines and all systems were checked; new carpet and select soft goods were installed; a new dinghy lift was fitted; a new watermaker and a new Starlink commercial antenna were installed; and multiple additional improvements, repairs, and maintenance items were completed.

Engine room. Machinery spaces center on twin Caterpillar 3412E 1400 hp engines with reduction gears, complemented by additional aft deck wired‑remote controls for engine gears and thrusters. Twin Northern Lights 32 kW generators run in sound shields. A Sea Recovery watermaker was rebuilt in 2024. Auxiliary systems include an American Bow Thruster control box; forward AC valves and hose runs; Naiad 254 stabilizer housings; four blower fans (two AC and two DC); a Century AC circulation pump; a Leeson oil change pump; a battery control box serving engines and generators; an air compressor for the horn; an aft starboard battery box plus generator batteries forward on the port side; overhead lighting; and a monitoring camera. Access to steering gear—fully rebuilt—sits aft. Domestic water pressure is delivered by a high‑volume AC freshwater pump supplemented by a DC freshwater pump. Propulsion is refined by upgraded five‑blade propellers, engine block heaters, and hydraulic bow and stern thrusters. Fuel filtration is via Racor 1000 fuel/water separators—two per main engine and one per generator—backed by seawater strainers. The drivetrain features stainless‑steel shafts, shaft and rudder packing glands with robust seals, and an engine exhaust system with mufflers rebuilt in 2024. Safety systems include a stainless‑steel emergency tiller, engine alarms for low oil and high water temperature, and a Fireboy automatic and manual fire‑suppression system. Climate control relies on two Dometic air‑conditioning chillers. Fuel is stored in aluminum tanks with sight glasses and gauges. A high‑water bilge alarm and holding‑tank level indicator add protection. Hot water comes from two Raritan heaters, one new in 2021. Five monitoring cameras are positioned strategically. The engine room closes with a heavy‑duty, sound‑damped door, and the entire space is soundproofed. Stainless overhead grabrails run along both sides of the engines, and the main engine batteries are set under the crew‑quarters companionway flooring.

Electrical systems. Security is handled by a GOST Apparition system monitoring doors, bilge pumps, high‑water alarm, and shore power (June 2021). Each generator carries two Group 31‑series batteries. Ship’s power is 110 or 220 volts from either generator or shore power, with two aft Glendinning 100‑amp cable masters, each with a 75 ft cord, and an ISO Boost transformer for shore‑power conditioning. A source‑select switch governs AC supply, and color‑coded wiring simplifies identification. Power storage and conversion are provided by a 4 kW inverter with a 120‑amp battery charger plus two Pro Marine chargers, feeding four 8D batteries for the main engines and eight 8D batteries for ship’s service, all enclosed in boxes with covers. Entertainment is driven by an upgraded Sonos sound system.

Enclosed flybridge pilothouse. Access is via the aft sliding glass door or the steps from the galley. Navigation and control include Garmin 8622 touchscreen MFDs (March 2018), a Garmin GHC20 autopilot (March 2018), a Garmin GSD24 sounder (March 2018), a Garmin GPS19x NMEA2000 antenna (March 2018), Boat Mate, iCom IC‑M605 VHF radios, and FLIR camera control. Helm ergonomics feature two Stidd helm chairs, a CAT engine display, Bennett trim tabs, bilge pump switches with indicator lights, engine start/stop and synchronization controls, a rudder indicator, HR‑1012 spotlight controls, American Bow Thruster controls for bow and stern thrusters, fuel and voltage gauges, generator hour meters and gauges, Naiad marine stabilizer control, engine throttles, windshield wiper controls, and overhead recessed courtesy lighting. A compass, teak & holly flooring, a breaker panel to port of the helm, and a mini captain’s desk to starboard complete the helm. For relaxation, there is a large settee seating 6 with a hi‑gloss teak table, a Samsung 40" TV, an icemaker and refrigerator, Cherrywood cabinetry and panels, and a vinyl headliner.

Flybridge deck. Outside, a wrap‑around settee with a table invites lingering views, supported by a freshwater sink, two Miele electric grills with a storage compartment beneath, teak decks, and port‑side steps leading down to the main deck. Audio is by JL Audio speakers, safety by an EPIRB, and shade by an easily removable canopy supported by three large aluminum posts, with guard rails encircling the deck. Overhead recessed lighting, exterior lighting switches, and access to hardtop equipment round out the space.

Salon. Entered from the main aft deck through a sliding glass door, the salon features an aft door with a full curtain and a Paradox system, a U‑shaped sofa with under‑seat storage, a hi‑gloss Cherrywood table, a Samsung TV, and a Sonos sound system. Cherrywood cabinetry runs throughout. Large windows to both starboard and port carry adjustable soft shades, while five recessed overhead lights and indirect courtesy lighting under the valances and sofa set the mood. To port, steps lead down to the crew quarters, utility center, and engine room. Media and entertainment components live in the cabinetry beneath the TV. Dedicated storage includes space for glassware plus a liquor and wine compartment. The salon is carpeted and also includes a freshwater sink and five overhead speakers.

Galley. Purpose‑built for extended cruising, the galley provides Cherrywood cabinetry throughout, black granite countertops, and a teak & holly sole. Refrigeration is by a Subzero refrigerator and two pull‑out freezer drawers. Cooking appliances include a General Electric oven, a Profile four‑burner stovetop, a Profile Performance convection microwave, and a Profile dishwasher. A deep freshwater sink, overhead recessed lighting, and the ship’s main AC 110/220 breaker panel are conveniently placed. Aft steps rise to the enclosed flybridge pilothouse. To starboard is the day head; to port, sliding windows; and at midship, foredeck doors open to both port and starboard. Forward, the dinette offers two barstools and a U‑shaped settee with storage beneath, set against large forward windows. Forward steps to starboard lead down to the staterooms. A 32" Samsung TV serves this area.

Master stateroom. The full‑beam master presents a centerline king‑size bed with storage beneath, a Samsung 40" TV, Cherrywood nightstands, Cherrywood cabinetry and closets, and two large closets with ample drawers. Porthole windows to both starboard and port draw in light. An upholstered headboard, up‑lit sconces to port and starboard, and carpet flooring add warmth. The suite’s his‑and‑hers heads are separated by a large centerline shower and include freshwater sinks, Corian countertops, a port window, overhead recessed lighting, Vacuflush toilets, tile flooring, and storage cabinets. Additional touches include a vanity dresser, a central vacuum hookup, a beveled mirror, overhead recessed lighting, and access through floor hatches to the bilge compartment, pumps, and tanks. Safety is enhanced by smoke and carbon‑monoxide alarms.

VIP stateroom. All the way forward, the VIP features a centerline queen bed with storage beneath, a beveled mirror, a Samsung 32" TV, Cherrywood cabinetry and closets, floor‑hatch compartments, and carpet flooring. An escape hatch above the bed opens to the bow foredeck. Reader lights, porthole windows to both starboard and port, overhead recessed lighting, smoke and carbon‑monoxide alarms, a central vacuum hookup, and indirect courtesy lighting around the base of the bed complete the ambience. The ensuite head offers a Vacuflush toilet, a freshwater sink, a Corian countertop, generous storage, and a large shower.

Twin stateroom. To port, the guest cabin offers side‑by‑side twin berths, Cherrywood paneling and cabinets, upholstered headboards, a shared nightstand, and a cedar‑lined hanging locker. Natural light comes through porthole windows. Entertainment is by a Samsung 28" TV with reading lights, while comfort is ensured by carpet flooring, indirect courtesy lighting at the floor, and overhead recessed lighting. Safety includes carbon‑monoxide and smoke detectors. The ensuite head mirrors the VIP’s specification with a Vacuflush toilet, separate shower, freshwater sink, Corian countertop, and ample storage.

Main deck. The aft area spans approximately 13 by 9 feet under cover, with teak decking underfoot. A port‑side teak‑tread staircase leads up to the enclosed flybridge aft deck. Dining is centered around a fixed Cherrywood table paired with a settee and six dining chairs. A forward sliding glass door leads to the salon and interior. Boarding is easy via port and starboard bulwark doors, and two aft bulwark doors open to the transom platform. Overhead lighting pairs with JL Audio sound, while two spreader lights face aft. Additional amenities include a security camera, a freshwater sink with a storage compartment, a safety guard rail, and two Maxwell 2200 winches.

Bow. Ground tackle is anchored by two Maxwell windlasses with 175 lb stainless‑steel anchors, operated by dedicated retrieve and deploy levers. Each anchor drops into its own in‑deck chain and rode compartment. Two freshwater washdown hose hookups simplify cleanup. Storage compartments to both starboard and port sit behind the sunpad areas, which comprise two large sunpads, while a center bow settee offers forward‑facing seating at the forepeak.
