Overview
Located in Stuart, Florida, LINDY is simple to inspect and poised for her next owner. Built for versatility, she slips seamlessly from sportfishing to relaxed day boating to unhurried coastal cruising, delivering a refined experience whether you’re chasing the bite or savoring a sunset run.
Her enduring Downeast silhouette with elegant, classic lines is complemented by a broad flybridge that offers excellent sightlines and generous seating. Inside, a thoughtfully finished salon and a well-equipped galley provide an inviting, practical haven, equally suited to easy weekend escapes or longer stays aboard. A smart pivoting mast lowers to reduce bridge clearance for inland passages, while quiet underwater exhaust keeps the cockpit serene and conversation-friendly—perfect for trolling or working a line. Altogether, this Downeast flybridge motor yacht blends sportfishing yacht capability with cruiser comfort and timeless appeal, making her an ideal choice for the discerning boater.
Detailed Description
Construction
A robust fiberglass hull and superstructure deliver enduring strength, quiet running, and low-maintenance confidence, forming the perfect foundation for capable coastal cruising and refined downtime at anchor.
Dimensions
Overall length is 40.00 feet (12.19 meters) with a molded beam of 13.50 feet (4.11 meters) and a loaded draft of 4.50 feet (1.37 meters). Dry weight is 22,000 lb. Capacities are generous, with fuel at 410 US gallons (1,552 liters), fresh water at 120 US gallons (454 liters), and holding at 40 US gallons (151 liters). Performance is confident and efficient: maximum speed is 21.0 knots at 2,400 RPM with consumption of 25 US gallons per hour and a range of about 250 nm; an easy cruise at 17.0 knots and 2,000 RPM returns roughly 20 US gallons per hour and 328 nm; the economical setting of 11.0 knots at 1,200 RPM sips 10 US gallons per hour for up to 946 nm of range.
Machinery
Propulsion is provided by one Cummins QSM-11 rated at 635 hp, turning through a ZF gearbox on a 2 1/2" stainless steel shaft and driving a bronze five-blade propeller; a RE Thomas shaft line cutter and a no-drip shaft seal add security underway. Ship’s power comes from one 6 kW Northern Lights generator, complemented by twin 30 amp shore cords. The battery suite was renewed in December 2022 and includes two house batteries, two engine-start batteries, and two thruster batteries, all managed via a custom Legacy electrical panel with AC and DC breakers plus volt and amp meters. Five Cole Hersey heavy-duty 600 amp on/off battery switches serve the thrusters, starting battery, windlass, and house circuits, and a battery charger is fitted for reliable replenishment.
Climate control is assured by reverse-cycle air conditioning with 12,000 and 7,000 BTU outputs, augmented by Webasto air purifiers and aft built-in solar-powered vent fans.
Further mechanical confidence comes from trim tabs/stabilizers, a Side-power electric bow thruster, and a Wesmar Side-power electric stern thruster new in 2024. The steering suite features Mathers ZF Micro Commander single-lever engine control and a Cummins Smart Digital display with a slow-idle setting, with three steering stations arrayed at the flybridge, pilothouse, and cockpit. Fuel is conditioned by dual Racor filters with vacuum gauges, and serviceability is elevated by a Reverso oil-change pump with pickups for the engine, transmission, and generator. The Raritan Marine Elegance electric macerating head pairs with a holding-tank pumpout system, while the freshwater system includes a 10-gallon hot water heater and bow and cockpit washdown hoses for both fresh and salt water. Bilge security is handled by electric bilge pumps with automatic switches, and a comprehensive spares kit supports the engine, generator, and bilge pump.
Communication, navigation & entertainment systems
Clear ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communication is delivered by three Icom VHF radios. Navigation confidence comes from Furuno radar, a Ritchie Powerdamp magnetic compass, a Simrad AP-20 autopilot with handheld remote, and a Furuno depth sounder. Display architecture is built around the Furuno NavNet system, with three Furuno GP-37 GPS navigator displays positioned at the cockpit, the flybridge helm, and as a spare, plus two Furuno RD-30 instrument displays at the cockpit and flybridge helms. Entertainment flows throughout the yacht via an Apple TV system, a fold-down LG Smart TV in the salon, and an Alpine IVE-W535HD multimedia station with DVD, Bluetooth, and USB feeding speakers in the salon, cockpit, and flybridge.
Galley & laundry equipment
The main galley is thoughtfully appointed with a two-burner Princess electric cooktop and a Sharp microwave, while refrigeration is managed by an under-counter refrigerator and a convenient top-loading freezer compartment.
Tenders & toys
An eight-foot inflatable dinghy with oars accompanies the yacht, ready for shore trips and quiet explorations.
Deck equipment
Ground tackle is anchored by a Muir 12 V DC electric windlass, a galvanized Delta primary anchor, and a secondary Fortress, with 150' of chain joined to 150' of eight-plait yacht-braid rode and an additional secondary chain and rode. A swim platform enhances water access. Anglers will appreciate the baitwell and sink beneath the flybridge ladder, multiple rod holders mounted to the handrails, Lee graphite outriggers on the flybridge, and a removable fighting chair stowed in the bunk area. Overhead protection is provided by a stainless steel folding bimini and a custom overhead awning. Night operations are aided by one remote-controlled spotlight and two handheld units. Thoughtful finishing touches include exterior canvas window covers, fenders and docklines, forepeak storage flanking the windlass for chain, fenders, and lines, and a courtesy light tucked into the bulwarks.
Security, fire fighting & safety equipment
Safety at sea is underpinned by a Fireboy automatic fire suppression system protecting the machinery space. The equipment roster includes one six-person Viking life raft new in 2023, along with life jackets and flares.
Accommodations
LINDY is a well-maintained 2004 40' (12.19 m) Legacy Motor Yacht showcasing timeless Downeast styling, a comfortable two-stateroom layout, and dependable diesel power. Equally at home cruising, fishing, or relaxing at anchor, she offers a bright, welcoming salon, a functional galley, and an open cockpit—an ideal coastal cruiser for couples or small families seeking versatility with elegance. The aft cockpit forms a comfortable outdoor hub with direct access to the swim platform and a ladder to the flybridge. An aft-facing seat conceals useful storage beneath its cushion, while a secondary outboard steering station beside it provides controls for the engine plus the bow and stern thrusters. Above, the flybridge expands both entertaining and piloting space with a triple helm seat, a single passenger seat to port, and a custom second row of seating aft, with additional stowage beneath the helm and aft seats.
For owners and guests, LINDY accommodates five across a forward master cabin, a guest cabin, and a shared head with shower. Guests can unwind in the light-filled salon, dine alfresco in the cockpit, and make the most of the helm deck and foredeck for cruising or lounging. The guest cabin sleeps up to three, featuring a lower berth that pulls out to convert into a small double, and sliding pocket doors that close to ensure privacy.
Works completed
2023–2025: A thorough engine inspection was completed, confirming excellent health, and the exhaust elbow was proactively replaced. Underwater exhaust delamination was repaired. The air conditioning system was professionally flushed with Barnacle Buster. A new brainbox was installed for the autopilot. New shaft seals were fitted. Throughout this period, the vessel has been meticulously maintained by a licensed captain.
2013 refit: The engine room received rigid Soundown panel insulation. All plastic thru-hulls were replaced with solid bronze fittings. A new R.E. Thomas self-aligning coupling was installed. Custom valves were added to the engine and generator inlets for easy flushing. A custom-designed three-person helm seat was created with dedicated quick-access storage for a six-person life raft. The toilet was upgraded to the Raritan Marine Excellence model with freshwater flush, with all head plumbing and the holding-tank pump-out system replaced. All hoses throughout the vessel were comprehensively renewed. All batteries were replaced. The salon gained electric roller shades, a new double helm seat with footrest, rod storage beneath the starboard-side sofa, and a custom fold-out table with integrated bottle stowage. The entertainment center was upgraded with a fold-down Smart TV, DVD player, and a vessel-wide smartphone-compatible audio system. The V-berth was enhanced with a memory-foam topper and custom-fitted linens for all bunks. The bulky washer/dryer was removed and replaced with shelving for added storage. A permanent full bimini top was secured with reinforced horizontal tubes (hurricane-tested) and paired with a rigid cockpit sunshade supported by rod holders. The aft storage box was converted to a full-width seat with integrated stowage specifically for an eight-foot inflatable dinghy. A removable 115 V electric grill was added. A full flybridge cover and exterior window covers were fitted, and the sliding doors were serviced for effortless operation. A plastic divider was added between the shower and toilet area. The horn compressor was relocated from the engine room to the area beneath the helm. Sliding windows in the salon were replaced with single glass panes to eliminate leaks. A new removable fighting chair was added. Standard cap-rail rod holders were replaced with draining units.
