Overview

44’ Modified Deep‑V Motor Yacht — 2001

Poised and purposeful, this 44‑foot express cruiser blends confident performance with warm, welcoming comfort—an ideal balance for those who prize the luxury of unhurried weekends and the thrill of an open horizon. Lying in the United States, she presents with timeless lines and a seakindly stance born from her proven modified deep‑V hull.

Twin Caterpillar diesel inboards deliver the kind of dependable, effortless thrust that seasoned cruisers expect. Settle into a smooth 21‑knot passage or unleash a lively sprint to approximately 26 knots when conditions invite. The hull’s geometry inspires trust offshore, softening the chop and tracking true, while the fiberglass/composite construction and fiberglass decks provide durability, rigidity, and low‑maintenance ownership.

On deck, the cockpit is arranged for easy movement and relaxed entertaining, with secure coamings and thoughtful sightlines from the helm. Transits along the side decks feel sure‑footed, and the overall layout makes shorthanded operation refreshingly straightforward. Whether you’re angling for a weekend anchorage or easing into a sunset cruise, her deck plan supports both spirited days underway and intimate evenings at rest.

Step below and you’re greeted by a bright, inviting salon designed to make time aboard genuinely restorative. A practical galley serves as the heart of the interior—perfect for unhurried breakfasts or hosting friends—while comfortable accommodations ensure restful overnights for owners and guests. A well‑appointed single head offers the space and finish you expect at this level, with thoughtful storage and easy care surfaces. Generous tankage, including substantial fuel reserves and ample freshwater stores, extends your cruising envelope so longer coastal voyages remain within easy reach.

The overall impression is one of balanced capability: robust where it counts, elegant where it delights. For buyers seeking a refined Motor Yacht with the agility of an Express Cruiser and the legs of a Performance Cruiser, this 44‑footer stands out as a confident Coastal/Offshore Cruiser. Diesel inboards, composite fiberglass construction, and a proven modified deep‑V foundation combine to deliver a yacht that feels as composed slicing into a breeze as she does welcoming guests in a quiet harbor—luxury, simply and beautifully done.

Detailed Description

Description

California-built in the classic convertible tradition, this boat is equally at ease chasing pelagics, dropping on dive spots, or hosting effortless family cruises. A fly bridge with a hardtop crowns a practical layout with a private stateroom, a head with a separate stall shower, and the confident performance of twin CAT diesels that deliver a solid 21-knot cruise. Thoughtful updates and diligent care show throughout; regular maintenance has been performed and all services are fully up to date.

Salon

The inviting salon blends utility with comfort, featuring a dinette with two stools and a new convertible settee that quickly creates additional sleeping space. Entertaining is effortless with TV/CD and a Pioneer stereo, while Corian countertops lend a refined note to daily living. Anglers will appreciate the overhead rod storage, and a new U-Line icemaker added in 2016 keeps refreshments at the ready.

Master cabin

Forward, the master cabin centers on a queen centerline berth with generous storage below, complemented by two hanging lockers, two forward hatches, and ample drawer space. Climate and ambiance are at your fingertips with dedicated A/C controls and a stereo, while a full-length mirror completes the suite with a touch of elegance.

Upgrades and improvements

On the exterior, upgrades include premium window tint applied in 2016 and a full set of exterior window shades for glare control and privacy. Sound carries crisply from new JL speakers on the flybridge, while a new horn (2016), a new anchor (2016), and a new anchor light (2017) enhance readiness and safety. Reliability is bolstered by a new water pump in 2017, bottom paint with fresh zincs in 2017, and a generator service in 2017. The engines received their 1,000-hour service in November 2016, and both air-conditioning units benefited from a complete service the same year. The shine matches the substance thanks to a comprehensive three-step gelcoat polishing completed in 2017. For serious anglers, Lee's Tackle double-spreader outriggers were fitted with all-new rigging in 2017. All services are up to date.

Inside, the refresh is comprehensive: all-new flooring throughout, designer fixtures in both galley and head, and custom mirrors that brighten and enlarge the spaces. Cold storage and ice production were modernized with a new U-Line stainless-steel icemaker (2016) and a new Norcold refrigerator (2016). New batteries add confidence offshore, a hot/cold handheld shower in the cockpit adds convenience after a swim, and a convertible salon sofa expands guest accommodations.

Cockpit

Purpose-built for action, the cockpit features a large, lighted live well and a dedicated tackle center so everything stays organized and within reach. Fresh- and salt-water washdowns keep the deck shipshape, while six rod holders and two fish boxes handle the day’s catch. A swim platform encourages quick dips, coaming pads cushion the fight, and a transom door streamlines landing fish. For close-quarters maneuvering, cockpit controls are on hand, and a stainless-steel ladder provides secure access to the flybridge.

Fly bridge

Up top, a large cushioned settee invites conversation alongside two helm chairs beneath the protection of a fiberglass hardtop. Fishing amenities include four rod holders and a horn for signaling, while fingertip control of ground tackle comes via a Maxwell remote windlass. The helm station is equipped with a Raymarine VHF and twin Raymarine ST 6001 autopilots for confident navigation.

Galley

The galley is sensibly outfitted with a two-burner cooktop and a Samsung microwave, supported by a Norcold refrigerator installed new in 2016 and a new U-Line ice maker added the same year—everything you need for effortless meals at sea.

Manufacturer provided description

The Mediterranean 38 Convertible is equally at home hunting billfish or cruising with the family. Its modified deep-V hull softens the offshore ride and delivers the safety, seakeeping, and performance demanded by knowledgeable yachtsmen and serious sportfishermen alike.

Below, curved laminated teak cabinets and doors are finished to a satin-smooth, hand-rubbed sheen. Rich decorator fabrics, lined lockers, and beautifully tailored upholstery create a bright, cheerful ambiance. Forward, the owner’s stateroom features a large double berth; there is a fully enclosed head with a separate stall shower; and the L-shaped galley, three steps down from the main salon, includes a serving bar and a pantry. The main salon can be fitted with an L-shaped settee that converts to a double berth, and a teak entertainment center with a built-in color TV completes the space.

The Mediterranean 38’s cockpit is designed for the avid fisherman. Stretching more than eight feet in length, it comes standard with a transom door and two large fish boxes, either of which may be converted to a freezer or a live baitwell. A built-in 48-gallon live bait tank sized for five scoops, a fiberglass bait-and-tackle center with sink and cutting board, polished stainless-steel rocket launchers, and numerous flush rod holders are all specified to satisfy the most discriminating angler.
