Overview

US DUTY PAID

TOHORA was conceived for a singular mission: ride the trade winds from Europe to Australia while seeking far‑flung kitesurfing and diving playgrounds. On that expedition she excelled, covering 14,000 nautical miles in nine months, averaging 200+ miles per day without a major hiccup. Any minor items were resolved and improved during her 12‑month warranty yard period in New Zealand.

After the Pacific, she moved to the Atlantic and completed multiple Caribbean and New England seasons. From launch she has had a single private owner, cared for by a full‑time captain and crew, and it shows. Impeccably maintained and thoroughly outfitted, she ranks among the strongest values in the 50‑plus‑foot catamaran segment.

Nautitech hull No. 6 has proven herself in a wide range of sea states, providing a true “at‑home” feel on long bluewater passages. Twin Yanmar engines have been serviced on schedule with genuine parts only (logbook available). Original saildrives were upgraded to new SD60s, noticeably reducing vibration and noise. Her four‑sail inventory is tuned to an aluminum mast and lightweight V‑boom, delivering efficient, balanced performance in all winds. Self‑sufficiency and comfort come via an 840‑watt solar array, 9 kW Kohler generator, air conditioning, watermaker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, two refrigerators and two freezers, icemaker, dive compressor, and a 14' tender—the equipment list is extensive.

The sought‑after three‑cabin Owner’s Version layout is aboard. To port, the generous owner’s suite features a queen berth aft and a forward office easily converted into a fourth cabin. To starboard you’ll find two single berths aft and a queen forward—ideal for guests or family. The port bow compartment serves as a rugged wet locker for boards, kites, dive gear, and fishing tackle.

If your plans include bluewater voyaging or refined weekend cruising, TOHORA delivers comfort and luxury without compromising speed. Professionally operated and thoughtfully upgraded, she is a proven performance cruising multihull and an exceptional opportunity.

Detailed Description

Accommodations

An owner’s version with a dedicated office sets the tone for thoughtfully planned living spaces that feel bright, connected, and effortlessly functional. On the bridge deck, large sliding aft bulkhead doors dissolve the boundary between cockpit and saloon, uniting the social heart of the yacht. To port, the navigation station is paired with a two‑person settee and the TV, while to starboard the modern U‑shaped galley flows into the main saloon dining area. With opening forward ports, overhead hatches, and excellent 360‑degree visibility, the saloon is flooded with natural light; the laminated cabin sole planking and light maple joinery add warmth, and there is additional storage cleverly integrated beneath the seating. The main saloon features U‑shaped seating around an adjustable dining table, with overhead LED lighting to create the right mood from dawn to dusk. The U‑shaped galley is comprehensively equipped for gourmet cruising: a propane three‑burner stovetop with oven, microwave, refrigeration, SMEG dishwasher, icemaker, double stainless‑steel sink, fresh‑ and seawater tap, white countertops, AC sockets, and ample locker storage make provisioning, cooking, and cleanup a pleasure. The forward‑facing navigation area provides a proper chart table with reading light and AC socket, with the ship’s electrical service panel positioned to port of the desk; the full electronics suite is detailed in the Navigation, communication & entertainment electronics section.

In the starboard hull, the aft twin cabin offers twin berths, a large hanging locker with shelving, an opening hull port with blind, a deck overhead hatch with blind, a cabin fan, overhead LED lights, and twin reading lights. Its en‑suite head includes a separate shower stall, an electric freshwater toilet, a basin, a mirrored cabinet with shelves, towel holders, and a flush deck hatch with blackout screen. Forward, the guest cabin features a large double berth (6’-6” x 5’-1”), a hanging locker with shelves, storage beneath the berth and along a lateral shelf at the hull, an opening hull porthole with screen, an overhead flush deck hatch with screen, and a cabin fan, complemented by an en‑suite head with separate shower stall, electric freshwater toilet, basin, mirrored cabinet with shelves, towel holders, and a flush deck hatch with blackout screen. Between these cabins you will find a second refrigerator and an LG washing machine. In the bow storage area forward, a MIELE dryer machine is neatly installed.

The port hull presents the owner’s layout with a large double berth (6’-6” x 5’-1”), a generous hanging locker with shelving, an opening hull port with blind, a flush deck overhead hatch with blind, a cabin fan, overhead LED lights, and twin reading lights. The en‑suite head features a separate shower stall, an electric fresh water toilet, a basin, a mirrored cabinet with shelves, towel holders, and a flush deck hatch with blackout screen. A dedicated office area with desk and seat creates a quiet workspace, while a settee with a pilot berth above expands flexibility for long passages. A further head offers a separate shower stall and an electric freshwater and seawater toilet, with basin, mirrored cabinet with shelves, towel holders, and a flush deck hatch with blackout screen. Between the cabins are two freezers, and the forward bow storage area provides empty, versatile space that previously served as a semi‑wet locker for dive gear, a surfboard, and more.

On deck

The cockpit is a social, protected haven, with steering stations at each quarter, a starboard settee with dining table, a port settee, and additional seating along the aft beam, all set over a teak sole. Overhead, the hardtop integrates an electric sunroof to welcome extra light on demand. Boarding is effortless via port and starboard transom stairs, with direct hatch access to the engine rooms, emergency tiller slots at the ready, and a custom‑made swim ladder on the port‑side transom. After a swim, two hot‑and‑cold showers on the transoms add a touch of comfort. Forward, the trampolines create an inviting seating area, while storage lockers are discreetly built into the forward bridge‑deck beam. Both port and starboard helm stations carry an engine control panel and electronic engine controls, complemented by a helm seat with backrest and a compass. A six‑person liferaft in a canister is mounted for rapid deployment. Ground tackle is handled by a QUICK 12 VDC windlass with remote control, feeding a 75# anchor on 295' of chain with an additional 130' of three‑strand nylon rode, backed by a secondary plow anchor. Sunbrella sunshades protect both cockpit and trampoline when the sun is high.

On deck, eleven opening hatches are fitted with OCEANAIRE screens and blinds, and the opening portlights are also screened for comfort at anchor. Sail handling is confident and precise with HARKEN Performa hardware: one 50.2 ST winch on the mast, two 70.2 ST winches in the cockpit (with one main halyard electric), and two 60.2 mainsheet winches on the aft beam. A CARBONAUTICA carbon fiber folding passarelle simplifies boarding ashore, and a CARIB tender 14' (4.2 m) with a 40 hp Honda four‑stroke outboard (2012) stands ready for adventures beyond the anchorage. A high‑pressure saltwater and freshwater washdown point is set near the chain locker at the transom for quick rinse‑downs.

Navigation, communication & entertainment electronics

At the dedicated nav station, the helm team benefits from a RAYMARINE E125 touchscreen GPS radar and plotter paired with a RAYMARINE AIS transceiver, a FURUNO GPS GP33, a RAYMARINE wind display, a RAYMARINE i70 multi display, and a RAYMARINE VHF. Entertainment and connectivity are equally refined with a FUSION CD/DVD/iPod stereo driving indoor and outdoor speakers with an outdoor remote, INMARSAT FleetBroadband FB150, a WiFi router, an EPIRB, a boat laptop, two handheld ICOM VHF units, and an MOB lifetag system for peace of mind offshore.

The port helm carries a RAYMARINE i70 multi display, a RAYMARINE i60 wind display, and a FUSION outdoor remote for fingertip control of audio on deck. To starboard, the helm is equipped with a RAYMARINE E95 touchscreen GPS radar plotter, a RAYMARINE 70 multi display, a RAYMARINE autopilot control head, and a RAYMARINE VHF—bringing full situational awareness and redundancy to both wheels.

Mechanical

Designed for quiet strength and dependable performance, propulsion comes from two YANMAR 4JH4‑TE engines with sail drives delivering 75 hp each. As of February 2019, the engines recorded approximately 3500 hours on the starboard side and 3500 hours on the port. Fuel is polished through RACOR filters, and thrust is translated via FLEXOFOLD bronze three‑blade propellers. A KOHLER generator rated at 9 kW (3,350 hrs) supplies ample onboard power, while CRUISEAIR reverse‑cycle air conditioning delivers hot and cold air in each cabin with independent controls, four units in total. Domestic systems include two 16 gal hot water heaters, a 50 gallon per hour watermaker, and a BAUER Jr. II dive compressor complete with six tanks—so comfort, autonomy, and adventure are always within reach.

Electrical equipment

A robust 12V DC and 220V AC electrical system underpins life aboard. There are twenty‑five electrical outlets distributed throughout the boat, powered by eight 160Ah AGM MASTERVOLT domestic batteries (new November 2017), supported by two 110Ah engine start batteries and a 110Ah generator start battery, all managed via a MASTERVOLT controller. Renewable energy comes from eight SOLBIAN 105 W walk‑on solar panels for a total of 840 Watts, while shore support is via 220VAC 50 A shorepower. A VICTRON 3000 watt inverter ensures smooth AC delivery under way.

Lighting is thoughtfully layered: LED backlighting washes beneath the saloon furniture, the transom and cockpit are illuminated for safe movement, LED navigation lights and a masthead anchor light keep you seen, and boom lights, a transom spotlight, a mast deck light, LED spreader lights, and four LED spots under the bridge deck extend usability well into the night.

Sail, spars & rigging

Purpose‑built for balance and control, the rig begins with an aluminum mast fitted with steps for easy boom access and stainless steel rod standing rigging. The aluminum V‑Boom streamlines mainsail handling. The sail wardrobe is comprehensive: an Incidence square mainsail with a 2:1 halyard (99 m²), an Incidence self‑tacking jib/solent (46 m²), a gennaker on an independent self‑furling system (115 m²) new in 2017, and a symmetrical spinnaker (180 m²) add power and versatility across conditions.

Running rigging is specified for strength and precision: a 2:1 mainsail halyard in Dyneema, a jib halyard, a spinnaker halyard with 12 mm Spectra core, an extra spinnaker halyard with 12 mm Spectra core, a topping lift, a mainsail sheet with two traveler control lines, a single jib sheet, a jib furling line, and dedicated spinnaker/gennaker sheets—all laid out for smooth, confident sail changes.

Recent upgrades

This yacht has been actively maintained and thoughtfully improved for turnkey confidence. A fresh antifoul was applied in November 2018, and in the same month all fuel injectors on both YANMAR engines were rebuilt. The MASTERVOLT screen was upgraded to Eastview 5 in March 2018, followed by a new house bank of eight AGM MASTERVOLT batteries in January 2018. New batteries for the genset and main engines were installed in November 2017. Brand‑new SD 60 Yanmar saildrives were fitted in November 2017 to reduce noise and vibration under power. Both engines received their 2500‑hour service and the generator its 3000‑hour service in August 2017. A new gennaker arrived in August 2017, rounding out a performance‑minded sail plan.

Safety & fire protection

Safety systems are comprehensive and ready when needed. A six‑person EV canister liferaft is mounted in a bracket on the aft beam and was serviced in January 2019. Each hull carries two electric bilge pumps and two manual bilge pumps, with bilge alarms monitored at the chart table. Fire safety is enhanced by six powder fire extinguishers distributed around the vessel.
