Overview
In 2001, this 48' Ocean Convertible underwent a complete custom transformation by Cay Marine—no corners cut during the refit. Known for premier Sportfisher and Sportfishing Yacht work, Cay Marine sits at the pinnacle of bespoke performance builds.
"Dirty Secret" changed hands in 2015, and the current owner refined an already striking vessel. In 2017, the bottom was media-blasted, re-glassed, and finished with two coats of epoxy barrier—leaving it as fresh as a new boat and tournament-ready.
Truly turnkey and ready to run. A must-see Convertible Sportfish/Flybridge—bluewater-capable and ideal for offshore fishing, tournament action, or a refined weekend cruiser.
Detailed Description
Salon
Step into a welcoming salon where a plush L‑lounge to port invites relaxed conversation beneath a refined headliner. Soft carpeting is balanced by wood flooring accents at the salon entry, leading the eye to beautiful custom cabinetry with an integrated storage unit to starboard and a large dinette set opposite. Silhouette blinds and elegant valances frame the views, while rich teak paneling adds warmth throughout. An entertainment center with Bose surround sound sets the tone for movie nights, and the climate remains perfect thanks to air conditioning distributed through custom air‑conditioning vents that blend seamlessly into the design.
Galley - Port Side
The thoughtfully shortened port‑side galley maximizes open space without sacrificing capability, showcasing custom Corian countertops, a matching Corian sink, and bespoke teak cabinetry. Everyday convenience comes effortlessly with a microwave and custom wood flooring underfoot, while a refrigerator and freezer, fitted new in 2014, keep provisions perfectly chilled and organized.
Master Stateroom - Forward Below Deck
Forward below deck, the master stateroom centers on a full walk‑around queen berth dressed for comfort, with plush carpeting underfoot and custom teak woodwork enriching the ambiance. Custom lighting sets a soothing mood at any hour, while air conditioning ensures restful nights. Storage is generous and beautifully finished, highlighted by two cedar‑lined closets that keep wardrobe items fresh and impeccably kept.
Guest Stateroom - To Port
The port guest stateroom offers a serene retreat with a single twin berth, surrounded by custom cabinetry and complemented by bespoke carpeting. Independent air conditioning completes the space, ensuring guests enjoy cool, quiet comfort.
Guest Stateroom - To Starboard
To starboard, the guest stateroom features a comfortable single lower berth and impresses with an ample custom locker matched to spacious cabinetry. The custom wall covering and a bespoke teak closet add understated luxury, while a stackable washer and dryer elevate onboard practicality.
Flybridge
Command the horizon from a flybridge crowned by a custom Cay Marine top and laid with custom teak decks underfoot. Two custom helm chairs face precise Morse control and a suite of custom gauges, while navigation is anchored by a Raymarine plotter/depthsounder added in 2015, a 48 mile Furuno radar, and a Furuno 292 color sounder. A full enclosure protects the helm, new spreader lights installed in 2020 extend your day, and clear communication is ensured with both VHF and an S.S.B. radio.
Engine Room - Mechanical
Performance and peace of mind start with Detroit Diesel 6‑71s showing one thousand hours since a major overhaul in 2014, paired to a 15 kW Westerbeke generator. Reliability upgrades abound: custom gel batteries added in 2020, an inverter from 2015, dripless shaft seals fitted in 2018, new alternators and starters in 2020, and new aftercoolers in 2019. Breathing is optimized with Walker Air Seps, while new blue silicone engine hoses installed in 2020 bring durability and a clean finish. Safety and service are equally robust, with an automatic Halon fire suppression system, battery charger, automatic bilge pump, and new air‑conditioning units from 2017 and 2018. Maintenance is up to date, including primary and secondary filters serviced in December 2020, an oil exchange system, comprehensive engine alarms, a new heat exchanger in 2017, new turbochargers in 2019, and a new windlass in 2014.
Cockpit - Deck
The cockpit is built for action and ease with a rugged fiberglass cockpit and fiberglass covering boards, complemented by a transom finished in a handsome teak faux. Entertain or refuel after a run with a custom grille in the cockpit, and keep decks spotless with both freshwater and saltwater washdown. Storage abounds with dedicated space in the lazarette, including a fishbox, and a practical tackle center with sink keeps gear shipshape. Safety and handling are elevated by a life raft, powder‑coated handrails, and a purposeful profile with the bow rail deleted while retaining a pulpit for confident anchoring.
Hull and Deck
A striking presence on the water, the custom yellow hull was beautifully painted with Awl Grip in 2015 and paired with custom engine side vents for efficient breathing. Black outriggers stand ready for the bite, and life aboard is enhanced by the convenience of SAT TV.
