Detailed Description
Overview
ON OUR WAY represents an extremely well-cared-for 80' Outer Reef that has undergone substantial, critical upgrades throughout her current ownership. Mechanically, she has completed a top-end rebuild of her Caterpillar C18 engines, including a full exhaust replacement, and her Northern Lights generators have been fully serviced. Additional major work includes replacement of the shafts, new engine and gear mounts, a rebuilt hydraulic system, new battery chargers and batteries, new inverters, and new shore cords with shore power boosters. The HVAC system has been completely overhauled with new circulation and raw-water pumps, along with new frequency drives.
A comprehensive new Garmin navigation electronics package was installed, complemented by Starlink connectivity and a new AV system. The interior has been fully refurbished with all-new soft goods, new stonework, furniture, and carpeting throughout, and the galley appliances have been replaced. She offers a voluminous four-stateroom interior with separate, private crew quarters aft. The reliable Caterpillar C18 engines have only five hours since their complete top-end rebuilds, and the Northern Lights generators are fully serviced and ready to perform. Every system has been inspected, renewed, or replaced as needed, underscoring her exceptional seakeeping capabilities and her build for extended offshore cruising. Completely turnkey and ready to cruise anywhere in the world, ON OUR WAY is a must-see.
Vessel walkthrough
Boarding is effortless, whether from the swim platform, through the boarding gates to port and starboard opposite the pilothouse doors, or via the aft deck gates. Ascending one of the twin stairways from the teak swim platform, the presence of both inboard and outboard handrails immediately underscores the thoughtful design enhancements that elevate comfort and safety. The open aft deck is sheltered overhead and fitted with wing doors to port and starboard; a staircase to port leads to the boat deck, while a storage cabinet resides to starboard. A built-in settee, four teak chairs, and a large teak table comfortably seat six to eight for alfresco dining. For added security at sea, the owner specified an additional safety feature: a hatch on the aft deck providing direct entry to the crew’s quarters and lazarette below. This secondary access ensures safe ingress and egress when conditions render the transom door hazardous, and offers an alternative exit from the crew area in an emergency.
Double doors usher you into the main salon, where a beam of more than twenty-one feet confers the volume and presence of a much larger yacht. The upgraded cherry wood paneling throughout creates a warm, refined ambiance. To port, an L-settee, easy chair, and custom coffee table invite relaxation; to starboard, an entertainment center is paired with two custom chairs. Just forward of the settee, the formal dining area features a custom glass dining table and four chairs.
To starboard, a wet bar with a U-line ice maker and Sub-Zero under-counter refrigerator is complemented by a custom cabinet with dedicated racks for glassware and china. Step up to the fully equipped galley, where cherry-paneled appliances and granite countertops and backsplashes blend beauty with durability. Storage is abundant for all cookware, with custom drawers tailored for cutlery and flatware. A full-height custom glassware and plate cabinet stands to starboard alongside a pantry for additional provisions, while the dayhead is positioned forward.
The pilothouse helm station showcases a full suite of newly installed electronics. Professionally designed, this top-of-the-line system includes multiple backup components for redundancy and safety. Pilot and co-pilot helm chairs accompany a large U-settee with a table, creating a comfortable command and observation area.
Starboard-side stairways lead both down to the guest accommodations and up to the flybridge. Outer Reef’s trademark Deluxbridge delivers an expansive layout with voluminous storage, featuring pilot and co-pilot Stidd helm chairs, a full-beam helm with complete Navionics, and a custom-designed chart well. L-settees to port and starboard each serve a Corian-topped hi/lo table, while a wet bar with refrigerator/ice maker and a gas BBQ grill enhances entertaining. A gas alarm monitors the propane tanks—another safety feature proposed by the owner.
Gates open to the boat deck, which carries a centerline, heavy-duty 2,000 lb. davit capable of lowering tenders and life rafts to either port or starboard. To accommodate this capability, the boat deck was strengthened and the rails were modified.
Below deck are four staterooms and three heads, each with a shower. Forward, the VIP cabin enjoys an overhead watertight hatch/skylight, a queen berth with drawer storage below, two cedar-lined hanging lockers, and storage cabinets along the port and starboard bulkheads, plus an ensuite head with shower. Aft to port lies the guest cabin with twin berths and drawer storage below, a nightstand, and a cedar-lined hanging locker; this cabin also has an ensuite head and shower, shared with the starboard cabin. Opposite, beyond the port cabin, the washer/dryer and linen closet are set to starboard. The starboard guest cabin offers over/under bunks, storage, and a cedar-lined closet.
Amidships, the full-beam master suite presents a centerline king berth against a custom headboard wall, with vanities and drawer storage along both the port and starboard bulkheads; the vanity includes a custom mirror. Aft lies the head, finished—as are all the heads on NV—with granite flooring and countertops, while a large walk-in cedar-lined closet occupies the starboard side.
The engine room is accessed either through the master stateroom’s closet or via the transom door from the swim platform. It is arranged to assure excellent access and generous working space around all equipment.
Aft of the engine room are the crew’s quarters, also serving as a fifth guest cabin. To starboard, a double cabin and full head with shower provide comfort and privacy; to port, a crew lounge and galley create a functional retreat. A large storage area with a washer/dryer sits aft of the crew lounge, and a watertight transom door opens directly to the swim platform.
Construction
Crafted with a hand-laid FRP hull featuring PVC foam sandwich construction above the waterline, this yacht benefits from a vinylester barrier lamination for robust osmosis protection. The hand-laid FRP deck/house and flybridge also employ PVC foam sandwich construction, all supported by full-length longitudinal engine stringers complemented by athwartship stringers for exceptional rigidity. Salon windows are fitted with 3/8-inch tempered glass, while the pilothouse is secured with 1/2-inch tempered glass. Rub rails capped in stainless steel guard the sheer, and the bilge is faired smooth and sealed with epoxy paint. A built-in swim platform carries a stainless steel swim ladder and rails and has been upgraded with twelve inches added to its width, working in concert with the Quiet Roll integrated spray rail system for a drier, quieter ride. Kevlar is added to the fiberglass lay-up in the bow section, and an extra bow watertight compartment is secured by a Freeman watertight hatch. Additional hull stringers run the full length of the hull port and starboard with no change to the normal lamination or hull thickness, and targeted hull strengthening is incorporated around the stabilizers. Offshore Freeman heavy-duty exterior doors fortify the pilothouse, and safety is further enhanced by an emergency hatch from the aft deck to the crew quarters with a removable stainless-steel ladder. Demonstrating meticulous build discipline, the hull remained in the mold for a minimum of ten weeks. Practical movement aboard is ensured by built-in stairs from the aft deck to the boat deck, complete with a hatch and stainless-steel rails.
Mechanical equipment
Power is delivered by twin Caterpillar C-18 Acert (1,000 bhp) diesel engines mated to ZF transmissions with electronic instruments for dual stations, showing 5,042 engine hours (August 2026). Command is effortless thanks to Hynautic power steering for dual stations, while ABT Trac 220 hydraulic stabilizers with 9.0 square feet fins and ABT 38hp hydraulic bow and stern thrusters keep the yacht composed and responsive. Precision maneuvering is further enhanced by Glendinning handheld remote engine controls for three stations (Fore deck, flybridge and aft deck).
Engineering refinements include an underwater exhaust system with bypass and FRP mufflers complemented by a Northern Lights uplift water exhaust system. Tides packless shaft seals with one spare seal for each shaft work in concert with stainless steel propeller shafts turning Nibral propellers and spur line cutters on shafts, all supported by stainless steel struts with bearings and stainless steel rudders with bearings. Fiberglass drip pans beneath the engines and an Evolution anti-vibration system with soft engine mounts underscore the yacht’s quiet, vibration-damped ride, while a second dripless shaft seal on shaft adds further resilience.
Fuel management and serviceability are exceptional, with two Racor 75/1000 Max dual fuel filters for the main engines, two Racor 75/1000 Max single fuel filters for the generators, and one Racor 75/1000 Max dual filter for fuel polishing through the transfer pump and day tank, augmented by an Algae-X fuel polishing system and a Groco 24v fuel transfer pump. Reliability at sea is bolstered by ball-valve bronze seacocks on all through-hulls below the waterline and an emergency tiller lock mechanism. Maintenance is simplified by a Reverso oil change system for ZF 360A engine transmissions with two additional valves for engine transmissions. Climate control is assured by a 230v Cruisair chilled water A/C system with an additional raw water pump back up for the A/C system.
Electrical systems
Power is delivered by two Northern Lights 25 kW (60 Hz) generators with sound shields, showing hours as of August 2026 of port 5,492 and starboard 5,237. A main electric distribution panel with gauges and circuit breakers manages the 230/115V AC system and the 24/12V DC system, while two Glendinning cablemasters fore and aft each carry one hundred feet of fifty-amp cable to complement two shore power inlets with rotary select switches for the fore and aft connections. Shore power flexibility is enhanced by one 100A‑to‑dual‑50A splitter, and an accessible wiring raceway runs throughout, with all batteries secured in FRP boxes. The vessel features two engine banks, each with two 8D‑225Ah batteries; two house banks, each with four 8D‑225Ah AGM batteries; and two generator banks, each with one AGM 31T‑105Ah battery, supported by one 24V and one 12V battery charger, two Professional Mariner battery isolators, two Trace Engineering 4 kW inverters, and an engine battery interconnection system. For global capability, two ASEA AC‑12 power converters accommodate world voltage, while machinery spaces are served by two 115V AC and two 24V DC engine‑room blowers, five 24V DC head ventilation blowers, and two bilge blowers in the forward section. A 24V‑to‑12V Newmar DC converter provides step‑down versatility, navigation is aided by two Ritchie six‑inch magnetic compasses, and underwater integrity is ensured by a copper bonding system to all fittings with zinc anodes. Wiring is tin‑copper to ABYC specs, the signal suite includes a Kahlenberg D‑OA dual trumpet air‑horn with compressor, and illumination is comprehensive with a 24V DC chart light, three red chart lights on the flybridge, 24V DC courtesy and step lights throughout with automatic switches in the wardrobe, 24V DC overhead halogen fixtures throughout, and 24V DC rope‑style valance lighting in the salon and staterooms, plus 12V outlets in the pilothouse and on the fore deck. The engine room benefits from 115V AC fluorescent and 24V LED lights, navigation lights are by Aqua Signal with five fixtures, propulsion grounding is maintained by two shaft brushes in the engine room, and visibility is exceptional thanks to two ACR searchlights mounted on the hardtop with pilothouse and flybridge remote controls, as well as a Carlisle & Finch searchlight rated at 1.5 million cp with remotes at both stations.
Plumbing and tankage
Engineered for unwavering confidence at sea, the vessel’s plumbing and tankage systems combine robust construction with intelligent redundancy. A bilge high-water alarm system with a pilothouse warning panel stands vigilant, supported by four automatic 24v DC bilge pumps with emergency bilge suction on the engine, five additional backup bilge pumps, and one manual bilge pump in the engine room. Three automatic 24v DC shower pumps manage grey water with quiet efficiency. Fuel is carried in aluminum tanks totaling 3000 gallons and routed through a stainless steel fuel manifold system for supply and return, while freshwater resides in a stainless steel 500-gallon tank; distribution is optimized by rigid freshwater pipes and color-coded copper fuel lines, with two shore water inlets on the fore deck and transom ensuring seamless dockside connection. Waste management is handled by an FRP holding tank with a macerator pump of 200 gallons, monitored by a Headhunter electronic holding tank level indicator and pump control, with cleanout and sight gauges for the tanks and dedicated tank gauges for fuel and water. Domestic water pressure is delivered by two Headhunter XR-124 24v freshwater pumps with accumulator tanks in a manifold design, backed by an M5 115v freshwater pump, while hot water is provided by two 18-gallon 115v AC water heaters with heat exchangers. Premium appointments include Grohe single-level mixing taps for the sinks in the galley, heads, and showers, four Headhunter Royal Flush Superbowl marine toilets in Sand with chrome trim for the guest heads, and one Tecma electric toilet in the crew head. On deck, a transom shower set within a recessed box offers hot and cold-water supply, complemented by washdown freshwater outlets on the fore deck, aft deck, and flybridge, and a saltwater washdown pump with an outlet on the fore deck. Autonomy offshore is further enhanced by the Max Q 1800 gpd Reverse Osmosis watermaker, a Water Sanitron UV water purification system, and a portable water softener.
Engine room
Meticulously engineered for quiet strength and serviceability, the engine room is acoustically insulated and lined with sound-absorbing material, with Edura coin dot flooring underfoot for secure footing. Daily maintenance is effortless with a fresh water hose bibb and thoughtfully arranged sea chests, while a stainless steel workbench, a tool cabinet, and shelving for parts create a dedicated, orderly workspace guarded by stainless steel safety rails throughout the engine room.
