Machinery
Power comes from two DDEC MTU 12V4000M90 engines, each rated at 2,040 kW (2,735 hp), driving a diesel prop shaft propulsion arrangement. Precision handling is assured by an electro-hydraulic, power-assisted steering system complemented by a hydraulic emergency steering system. Electrical generation is provided by two 54 kW Kilo Pack units operating at 50 H. Climate control is via a Cruisair tempered water system, with all fan-coils replaced in 2016 for optimal performance. The yacht’s electrical architecture is a 50 Hz system with both three-phase and single-phase voltage, featuring a Selco power management system for seamless generator-to-shore switchover and Asea 72 kW three-phase shore power convertors.
Communications, navigation and entertainment equipment
At the helm, the ECS chart plotter is the TRANSAS Navisailor 4000 running through Windows 7 with a dedicated printer, displayed across two 60cm Eizo monitors and two 54cm Eizo monitors, and complemented by a Furuno X Band Radar. A ship’s PC, new in 2015, supports a comprehensive CCTV system with engine room coverage via two forward- and aft-facing HD cameras, while the “Night Watch” yacht monitoring system presents on a 42cm class-approved touchscreen monitor. Vigilance underway is enhanced by the Furuno BNWAS system (navigational watch system with motion detection), MX Marine GPS, Saab AIS – R5 Supreme, Sperry Marine Gyro, and a Navipilot 4000 autopilot, with clear feedback from Rudder Order and Rudder Angle LEDs and a Ritchie 4" magnetic compass. Performance and situational awareness are further refined with Raymarine log, anemometer and depth sounder, two Raymarine GMDSS VHFs, Speich windscreen wipers, Kahlenberg horns and controls, and an extensive suite of charts and publications for the western Med. Seamless communication comes via the Fleet F55 sat phone and fax, while Humphree trim tabs and Quantum at-speed stabilisers deliver confident control and exceptional comfort.
For entertainment, a custom Crestron entertainment center provides UK Sky TV and Astra 1 reception, fed through one KVH G60 satellite dome. The master stateroom features a 122cm 4K HD LCD TV with a Monitor Audio sound bar and directional speakers, while the salon boasts a 140cm 4K HD LCD TV with matching Monitor Audio sound bar and directional speakers, alongside a Sony PlayStation. Additional screens include a 122cm 4K HD LCD TV in the foyer/twin guest area, a Sony PlayStation in the foyer, 72cm 4K HD LCD TVs in the VIP staterooms, the crew mess, and the captain’s cabin, and an alfresco cinema experience with a 6 ft x 3.75 ft projector screen on the fly deck paired with an Epson EHTW7200 HD 3D projector. Each zone comprises one Marantz NR0617 amp, one Shuttle PC media server, multiple speakers, WiFi access, Apple AirPlay, a Blu-ray player, and an Apple iPad with a custom A/V controller app.
Deck equipment
On deck, two anchors are paired with two anchor chains, each 100 m in length and 16 mm in diameter, managed with ease by two hydraulic Maxwell VWC-6000 anchor windlasses. For confident docking and precise line handling, two electric Maxwell VC-4000 capstans are installed, while a Sanguinetti passerelle provides refined and convenient boarding.
