Detailed Description
Overview
Highlight features for JADE PANAMA span a comprehensive catalog of design, function, layout, performance, reliability, and safety, embodied in a welcoming, comfortable floorplan whose volumes of space and natural light are typically seen on larger yachts. This beautifully appointed Rayburn Flush Deck Motor Yacht delivers relaxation and style, fully equipped for enjoyable cruising with a spacious main-deck galley ideal for entertaining and comfortable guest accommodations below. Powered by Caterpillar 3406E 800 hp marine diesel engines, JADE PANAMA is well suited to extended adventures. The main deck flows generously from the aft deck through the salon and adjacent galley forward to the pilothouse helm, with excellent headroom. Tasteful carpets, fabrics, furnishings, and decor are complemented by Honduran mahogany cabinetry, doors, and wall panels, Corian countertops, and matching hardware throughout. Appliances maximize space in every zone: aft deck below-counter refrigerator, electric grill, and single-burner electric cooktop; galley upright refrigerator with integral ice maker and freezer compartment, electric cooktop and oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and trash compactor; flybridge ice maker; lower companionway washer and dryer and a walk-in cold store. Accommodations are indulgently specified, featuring a full-beam master stateroom with queen bed and ensuite hers-and-his heads and shower, a forward VIP with ensuite head and shower, and a port guest cabin with over-under bunks and its own ensuite head and shower; all areas are lined with abundant hanging lockers, drawers, and storage, with a study desk/library/media area conveniently positioned between the staterooms. Engine-room access will impress, with clear passage between the mains and ample room forward and outboard to reach critical systems. The reliable, efficient Caterpillar 3406E 800 hp mains with underwater exhaust, governed by a four-station TWIN DISC electronic engine control system, form the heart of performance, delivering high torque at low rated RPM for superb vessel control. Balancing the robust drivetrain are TWIN DISC MG 5114 2.5:1 reduction gears; strut-mounted 3.5" Aquamet 22 HS shafts with Tides Marine seals; 37x32 five-blade Nibral props; semi-balanced stainless steel plate foil-type rudders; and power-assisted Jastram hydraulic steering. Exterior spaces extend along wide, covered side decks from the aft cockpit to the foredeck. At the bow are dual MAXWELL 4000 hydraulic windlass systems serving a Mantus 175 lb M2 anchor and a 110 lb Bruce anchor, stem-mounted over and under on centerline, each with 1/2" Grade 60 HDG chain (300' on the Mantus and 200' on the Bruce), with chain locker access, an integrated bow-mounted automatic anchor and chain washdown, plus fresh and seawater washdowns ideally positioned for effortless cleanup. Flybridge access is via molded aft cockpit stairs or the starboard interior stairs near the galley. On the flybridge, forward on centerline, the helm presents GARMIN electronics, CAT engine displays, two adjustable STIDD helm chairs, a starboard entertainment center, and a port lounge. The centerpiece is the upholstered molded L-lounge with under-seat storage and a teak table, flanked by an outdoor entertainment area with sink and faucet, storage, and an ice maker; the expansive teak-decked flybridge is enclosed forward of the helm by a custom enclosure under the hardtop. Aft of the helm and entertainment zone, the boat deck is a self-draining, non-skid FRP expanse that invites multi-use flexibility. A power-rotation, telescoping Steelhead davit rated to 2000 lb launches and retrieves, aft or to port or starboard, the 2022 Highfield 460 15’ tender with 90 hp Honda outboard; the hydraulically operated mast can also be lowered to the upper deck for access and maintenance. The fully integrated electrical system combines Northern Lights 32 kW and 16 kW marine diesel generators; a Victron Quattro 8 kW inverter/charger with remote panel for ship’s service; four separate battery chargers; LED lighting; and a bank of seventeen Fullriver DC215Ah AGM batteries serving house, invert, engine, and generator starts. A bow-mounted shore-power outlet and a port-aft Glendinning Cablemaster motorized storage system that retracts and extends 100A shore-power cords offer flexible shore connection options; the 120V/240VAC remote inverter breaker panel and 24V/12VDC breaker panels are neatly labeled in the pilothouse. The GARMIN electronics suite equips both flybridge and pilothouse helms with GARMIN 8622 MFD touch-screen color displays with preloaded maps; for redundancy, a MaxSea PC chart plotter ties into the NMEA network, supplemented by FURUNO, SIMRAD, and Standard Horizon components, plus a RITCHIE compass. Camera monitoring streams to the GARMIN display and includes two cameras in the engine room plus separate cameras at the aft deck and flybridge; additional dedicated video monitoring provides forward and aft 4K coverage from mast to wheelhouse. A comprehensive Maretron alarm system employs multiple sensors to oversee critical systems and entry points. Comfort climate control across accommodations and main deck comes from a multi-zone Marine Air chilled-water air-conditioning system with reverse-cycle heat; the chiller system in the engine room comprises three staged compressors supplying chilled/heated water to independent air handlers throughout.

Build summary
JADE PANAMA is a custom-designed, engineered, and custom-constructed motor yacht commissioned with a seakindly hull form intended for extended offshore cruising and a range capable of crossing the Atlantic without refueling. The structure was designed and engineered for the rigors of the open ocean, with structural engineering based on American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Rules for Building and Classing Motor Pleasure Yachts (the vessel is not classed). JADE PANAMA is exceptional in design, specification, construction, and outfitting. Commissioned by an experienced, meticulous yachtsman and executed by an accomplished builder, she was designed for world cruising with systems that are reliable, straightforward, and easily serviceable. The specification reflects that no expense was spared, selecting the finest materials and equipment to the highest standards; a true custom yacht, she stands apart in her class and will remain highly regarded for quality of design and construction.
Walkthrough
A tour of this distinctive yacht reveals the obvious experience of her owners, designers, and builder, and the investment in time and resources to execute a fine, classic motor yacht. Presenting JADE PANAMA, a new offering for sale: this Rayburn 76’ custom yacht has been lovingly maintained for ready, on-demand yachting. Since 2015 she has cruised the Pacific Northwest, carrying owners and guests to every destination in safety, style, and comfort. Her features comprise a comprehensive catalog of design, function, layout, performance, reliability, and safety, with a welcoming, comfortable floorplan boasting volumes of space and natural light typical of larger yachts. Step aboard and feel the solid assurance beneath your feet. The full-width, deep fiberglass swim platform with teak decking carries aft-center a pair of stainless flush receptacles for the removable stainless-and-teak in‑water boarding ladder and stainless fold-down cleats at the aft corners. Built into the substantial transom is a lockable watertight door to lazarette and engine compartments. An intuitively placed handrail guides you up gently curved FRP, teak‑capped steps to the aft cockpit, where access to the Glendinning Cablemaster shore-power system and controls is integrated into the riser of the penultimate step, and the passerelle is concealed behind the starboard riser. Between the stainless-framed transom gates on the aft deck sits a molded settee with custom-upholstered cushions, pillows, and seat backs; just forward, a gloss-finished teak dining table with ebony inlay rises on a motorized pedestal to the ideal height for every occasion. Overhead, dimmable LED lighting and a pair of Fusion stereo outdoor speakers set the mood, while an AXIS camera streams security video to onboard displays; aft, twin docking lights stand ready. Confident docking from the aft area is achieved with wired remote engine and thruster controls that plug into a cleverly concealed receptacle. Forward to port a molded cabinet carries an electric grill and single burner above, with a refrigerator and storage below, and a top-hinged lift window serving the aft salon bar; to starboard, molded teak‑capped steps lead to the flybridge via a sliding glass hatch, while centerline double doors invite you into the salon. Port and starboard, hinged FRP boarding gates with teak handrails ease embarkation. Marquipt sea stairs stow handily outboard of the starboard engine. Lounging in the aft cockpit affords unobstructed sightlines forward through the salon into the pilothouse. Removable custom enclosure panels shelter from weather and wind underway, reducing cleaning and maintenance. Rigid clear acrylic doors with hinges and latches open to deep, wide walkaround teak decks; welded stainless plate hardware and stanchions mount atop teak‑capped gunwales to simplify movement, and stainless hawseholes with cleating horns (four per side) are positioned for secure mooring. Proceeding forward past large embedded fixed frameless windows that usher in natural light and minimize leak concerns, you’ll find fittings for waste and water along the deck trails. Diesel fueling is brilliantly engineered: all four tanks can be fast-filled simultaneously from either side via fill ports hidden behind latched locker panels on the inboard face of the deck trail and vented to the flybridge to minimize spill potential. Watertight pilothouse doors port and starboard access the interior main-deck pilothouse, and just aft outside these entries are compact docking stations with electronic engine controls, start switches, emergency shutdowns, and thruster controls. Forward under the windshield, two large opening hatches reveal storage compartments ample for deck gear, fenders, life jackets, and lines. Centerline at the foredeck a bench seat with custom cushions and stereo speakers creates a tranquil oasis adjacent to those lockers, and beneath the seat sit a second 100A Glendinning shore cord, connections for both windlasses, and fresh and seawater washdowns. The teak foredeck is ringed by a perimeter teak handrail and gunwale-mounted stainless stanchions; a deck hatch for the VIP stateroom lies centerline between the bench and the Maxwell hydraulic anchor system. At the bow, two anchors with chain lead to chain lockers, with integrated automatic anchor washdown and recessed stainless hawseholes with cleating horns; oversized open drains are molded into the bulwarks. Transition to the flybridge from aft cockpit is via a sliding overhead stainless-framed glass hatch for security and weather protection, ascending FRP steps with teak treads and stainless safety rails. The flybridge presents an aluminum-frame venturi with clear panels and a centerline helm forward, delivering superb forward visibility over the bow, complete with two adjustable Stidd helm chairs, a custom stainless wheel, a Ritchie compass, and a comprehensive suite of systems controls and electronics. The hardtop supports the mast with electronics and communication antennas above and carries two remote-controlled spotlights aft; the hydraulically controlled mast lowers via wired remote for ease of maintenance, and the entire hardtop can be lowered as well, reducing air draft to 19’10” (with mast up the height is 29’ with antennas lowered). Dining, entertaining, and relaxing converge to port around an FRP molded L‑lounge with upholstered cushions, under‑seat storage, and a teak table; to starboard a built‑in wet bar with sink, faucet, counter, storage, and ice maker completes the scene. A sliding stainless-framed glass hatch leads inside to the main deck. Aft on the boat deck, a power‑rotation telescoping Steelhead 2000 lb davit manages the 2022 Highfield 460 15’ tender with Honda 90 hp and custom canvas cover, launching and retrieving from port, starboard, or aft with ease. The flybridge decking is teak, while aft of the enclosed hardtop the boat deck is FRP with deck drains; outboard walkways port and starboard facilitate cleaning, with paddleboard/kayak mounts on both sides. Through twin hinge‑mounted painted doors, you enter the salon from the aft cockpit into the sweeping breadth of the main deck, where large frameless windows port and starboard fill the space with natural light and are shaded by adjustable remote-controlled blinds. Overhead satin-finish beam joinery and a custom fabric headliner integrate dimmable LED task lighting and stereo speakers. Rich Honduran mahogany cabinetry frames, forward to starboard, a vertical drawer bank opposite the galley; moving aft, a stairway to the lower deck, more storage, a dining table that expands to seat five, a below‑counter TV on a lift, additional storage, and an entertainment cabinet in the starboard aft corner. Across the aft area, dual salon doors open to the aft deck; a service area with open end shelving, under‑counter storage, and an opening window that pivots out from the bottom serves the aft deck bar. Forward along port side are end tables with storage and lamps, custom luxuriously upholstered swivel chairs and sofa, a curved-edge coffee table with storage, and a pair of matching nested footrests, with a pass‑through to the galley forward; carpet lies over sound‑attenuating underlayment, climate control is by air conditioning with reverse‑cycle heat, and 110VAC outlets provide power on demand. Adjoining salon and dining, the galley wears warm teak‑and‑holly flooring for easy cleanup and offers generous Honduran mahogany storage above and below Corian solid-surface counters with matched hardware; appliances include an upright refrigerator with ice maker and freezer drawer, electric cooktop and oven, microwave, double sink with disposal, dishwasher, and trash compactor, with satin beam joinery above, custom headliner, dimmable LEDs, and 110VAC outlets. Across to starboard is the curved staircase to the flybridge and forward lies the day head. Beyond, the pilothouse has watertight doors port and starboard to the side decks; the centerline helm is served by a stainless-and-upholstered leaning post for agile control underway. At the console a custom Honduran mahogany double‑ring spoked wheel and a comprehensive suite of electronics and ship’s controls await, including Maretron monitoring, GARMIN, SIMRAD, and FURUNO with backup computer; dual radar, chart plotters, MFD touch screens, an autopilot helm control, manual follow‑up rudder control, VHF/AIS radio, camera monitoring, ignition switches, self‑parking wipers with washers and defroster, a RITCHIE compass, trumpet horn, searchlight control, stabilizer controls, windlass remote, chain counter, and engine-room fire suppression remote override; to port are Headhunter tank monitors, ozone controls, and Delta T engine fan management. Confident maneuvering and docking come by Twin Disc electronic engine controls, CAT engine monitoring, and bow and stern thrusters. Custom Honduran mahogany cabinetry under the helm offers storage and access, while aft a built-in upholstered settee with teak table and storage below gives the pilothouse a social center. Large frameless windshields flood the area with light and carry an exterior mesh canvas cover for privacy and to protect wood and sensitive electronics; overhead satin beam joinery, custom headliner, and dimmable LEDs complete the environment. The interior pilothouse entrance hides a separation door to isolate the space and includes red night lights; climate control is reverse‑cycle air conditioning; USB charge ports and 110VAC outlets serve personal devices. AC and DC distribution panels with clear labeling and the remote inverter panel mount to starboard inside the side-deck door; extensive ship’s manuals reside below the console, documenting wiring, plumbing, systems, and upgrades in detail. The flooring is teak and holly. A curved stair with rail, carpeted treads, and Honduran mahogany paneling descends to a landing for an open library/media/office space, brightly lit overhead. Matching mahogany doors with consistent hardware lead to the three staterooms; separate doors open to the centrally located laundry, a walk‑in stainless refrigerator/freezer cold store, and spare storage areas. Beneath the sole is the Headhunter Type II Royal Fox RF 50B sanitation system and convenient access to other critical systems such as house water pumps. Midships full‑beam, the master stateroom is a statement of luxury with a queen‑sized walk‑around bed and custom mattress, bedding, and pillows; storage drawers; mahogany cabinetry with positive latches; satin beams, custom headliner and wall fabrics; dimmable LEDs; padded carpet; generous hanging lockers; and opening portlights with privacy covers. Satin-white overhead beams and headliner fabric panels with flush, dimmable lighting are crowned by detailed moldings, while air-conditioning grills and louvered doors are custom-crafted from solid mahogany. Teak-and-holly decking highlights the pilothouse, galley, heads, laundry, and companionway storage area. Elegant, comfortable salon furnishings are positioned for seated views to water and horizon through large windows; the oval custom coffee table with nested ottomans is a unique showcase of design and craftsmanship. Mahogany Shoji panels in the lower accommodations filter light and provide translucent privacy over portlights. Tastefully appointed throughout, JADE PANAMA’s interior radiates craftsmanship and quality more often found aboard vessels twice her length.
Pilothouse
Accessed through weathertight side doors port and starboard, the pilothouse deck is spacious enough for two to pass comfortably or for one to move without interrupting the helmsman. Forward windows are 1/2" tempered glass set in aluminum frames with five Hepworth wipers, freshwater washers, and internal defog units; side windows are 3/8" tempered glass. Galley
Positioned on the main deck just aft of the pilothouse, the well-equipped galley features a U‑shaped countertop with built‑in appliances and a pass‑through to the salon, complete with louvered mahogany privacy shutters for conversation and serving. A large window offers an unobstructed panorama while cruising. Overhead red night lights support night operations, and a privacy door allows the pilothouse to be closed for night navigation.
Salon and aft deck
Entering aft from the galley, the salon is bordered by large port and starboard windows and an opening weathertight aft window. Finished mahogany blinds raise and lower electrically via handheld remote. Featuring raised‑panel solid mahogany joinery and an intricately beamed overhead, a built‑in dining table to starboard expands to seat five, with a retracting flat-screen TV built into starboard cabinetry outboard of the table. Mahogany cabinets include wine storage, drawers, and mixed‑media storage. A leather couch is centered between built‑in end tables with storage drawers and bookshelves; two comfortable leather chairs to port flank a custom mahogany oval coffee table with pull‑out footrests/ottomans and a large drawer. Two opening weathertight doors with full‑length glass open to the spacious aft deck, which carries curved centerline seating bordered by radius steps port and starboard to the swim platform. A varnished teak coffee‑and‑dining table raises and lowers hydraulically. A built‑in bar forward includes a refrigerator and grill with internal exhaust system. Overhead lighting on dimmers and a security camera complete the ambiance, while a built‑in stair to starboard ascends to the upper deck. JADE PANAMA is also fitted with a hydraulically actuated passerelle (currently requiring a new pump).

Ground tackle includes one Mantus 175 lb M2 anchor and one 110 lb Bruce anchor, stem‑mounted over and under on centerline, with 300' of 1/2" Grade 60 HDG chain on the Mantus and 200' on the Bruce, plus one 40 lb Fortress with 30' of 3/8" HDG chain and 300' nylon rode. Stabilizers are Naiad 254 with 9 sq.ft. fins, with Naiad control unit and software upgraded in 2014. Bow and stern thrusters are Naiad Model 10 LHT. The davit is a Steelhead 2000, 24V DC/hydraulic. The mast is hinged and hydraulically powered by the davit power pack; the entire room assembly can be lowered along with the mast to 19’10” clearance. HVAC is a Marine Air Systems nine‑ton hydronic chilled‑water system with heating and individual thermostat controls in each compartment. Electrical power is by a bank of 17 Fullriver DC215Ah AGM batteries for house and invert and engine and generator starts, supported by four separate battery chargers, one Victron Quattro 8 k Inverter/Cerbo GX for 110V systems, a Victron autotransformer for the inverter, and a whole‑vessel boost isolation transformer. Shore power is 240V/100A with Glendinning retractors bow and stern; the vessel can operate adequately on 50A service. A power converter—Ocean Electro—handles 50 Hz to 60 Hz and supports 230V 50 Hz, 415V 50 Hz, and 240V 60 Hz. Generators are one Northern Lights 32 kW and one Northern Lights 16 kW at 120/240VAC 60 Hz, 1800 rpm. Corrosion control is by Electro‑Guard active monitoring. Watermaker is Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper SRC AWM 1800‑2. The water system uses a Headhunter 110V primary pump and a Headhunter 24V DC secondary pump with UV‑protected shore water. Fire extinguishing is by a FireBoy FM‑200 fixed system for the engine room with automatic and remote triggers, plus portable units throughout the vessel. The Maretron alarm system employs multiple sensors to monitor tank levels, nav light function, AC and DC system voltage, bilge high water, smoke and carbon monoxide, low freezer temperature, engine room high temperature, door and portlight sensors, auto gray‑water pump‑out, engine/gearbox alarms, AC/DC load monitoring, temperature monitoring, and remote AC breakers for underwater lights, saltwater pump, engine block heaters, and air compressor.
Hull construction
The hull laminate schedule from exterior to interior comprises four layers of CDM 3408 fiberglass reinforcement, 1" Corecell A550 core, and four more layers of CDM 3408; the entire exterior laminate is impregnated with vinylester resin. The keel laminate is 1.5" solid CDM 3408. Two runs of 12 oz to 19 oz Kevlar were added to the outer shell in strategic areas. Hull bottom framing is Nida‑Core encapsulated with four runs of 1708 in the engine room and three runs forward of the engine room. Longitudinal reinforcement is three runs of 1708 encapsulated H55 PVC foam.
Fueling and lubrication
Fuel fill piping is 2" diameter for rapid fueling and vents are 1.5" diameter, routed inboard and aft to the flybridge to eliminate any possibility of overboard discharge. Level‑sensing switches (W.E. Anderson Series F7) are installed near the top of each of the four fuel tanks and illuminate LED lights at each on‑deck fuel fill to indicate a full tank. The lube oil system includes a fifty‑five‑gallon oil storage tank, constructed from 5086 aluminum, mounted above each engine.
Built for purposeful cruising
JADE PANAMA (originally WATERMARK, formerly CHILLIN) was built for an experienced yachting couple who cruised the world. The owner supervised construction daily, and architect Howard Apollonio designed a seakindly hull for extensive offshore passages by a retired couple—neither a mechanic nor a technician—so the vessel could be operated without crew. To meet the brief, labor‑saving mechanical systems and equipment were integrated and redundancy built into all critical systems; crucial systems for basic operation were kept simple to increase reliability and reduce maintenance. Anticipating extended open‑sea passages, safety and seaworthiness drove equipment selection, with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components chosen for worldwide availability and serviceability; watertight integrity was essential, as was motion minimization in rough water. The result is a careful collaboration among the original owners, their architect, two professional surveyors, and a conscientious builder. Since launching in July 2001, the original owners lived aboard full‑time and cruised from Vancouver, BC through the Panama Canal, the north coast of South America, across the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, back across the Atlantic, throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas, the U.S. East Coast, and the Canadian Maritimes. The vessel changed hands and cruised the U.S. East Coast between 2008 and 2015, then returned to the Pacific Northwest, where it has been moored on Lake Washington ever since and continuously upgraded. Extensive records—architect drawings, system and electric drawings, modifications, and upgrades—are documented and maintained.
Naval architect – Howard Apollonio
Routine stability checks by the architect confirmed an abundant margin of safety. Seakeeping considerations include a motion‑dampened hull form augmented by active stabilization, with freeboard and bow sections that resist pitch and vertical acceleration; a fine bow with narrow forward chine keeps running resistance low. Engine intake and exhaust fans are routed to the upper deck to ensure the engine room remains watertight to outside factors. Howard Apollonio, Owner and Principal Design Engineer, supervises and executes key functions across design engineering, client liaison, and testing for all aspects of engineered boat design.
Rayburn custom yachts
Rayburn was renowned for building some of the finest custom yachts on the planet, primarily superyachts; this vessel, the smallest the yard produced, incorporates the same components and quality expected in far larger, high‑end custom builds. The design and build quality far exceed production and semi‑production vessels of similar size. Original invoices reflect a 2001 price of $6.9M, underscoring the level of build and systems integrated aboard.
Performance & range
Depending on load and sea conditions, JADE PANAMA as equipped runs 6 knots at idle and reaches 15 knots at full RPM.
