Overview

"Sciabola" is a Sabre 38 Aft Cabin kept in excellent condition. A refined sailing yacht and racer-cruiser, she’s poised for relaxed family passages or spirited offshore competition. Meticulous care is evident throughout, built for bluewater confidence. This comfortable performance cruiser features warm teak joinery and a teak-and-holly sole, while the aft-cabin monohull layout provides abundant, well-planned storage.

Detailed Description

Overview

Scisbola greets the eye with a timeless profile: a white hull set off by a blue cove stripe and blue boot top, teak toe rails with outboard fairlead tracks, and stainless-steel pulpits and stanchions carrying double lifelines. A blue dodger with awning shelters a cockpit dressed with white cushions, while an elkhide‑wrapped wheel on an Edson pedestal provides a tactile helm. Practical deck details include a 35 lb CQR with chain and rode and a swim ladder, and below the waterline a stainless-steel shaft with cutter and a PYI Dripless seal speaks to dependable engineering. The sail wardrobe is powerful and versatile, featuring a 2017 Quantum mainsail, a 2017 Quantum 150% genoa with UV cover, a new, never‑used jib, a Summerset TriRadial spinnaker, the original main with Dutchman, the original 150% genoa, a Harken roller furler, and a Harken mechanical backstay adjuster.

Below, the accommodations are as thoughtful as they are inviting. Forward, the large, airy V‑berth offers custom storage cabinets, a generous hanging locker, and abundant light from the portlights. The main cabin centers on a double‑leaf table with a built‑in locker for silverware and small utensils, flanked by port and starboard 6'6" berths fitted with fabric‑covered 5" foam mattresses; the starboard berth cleverly converts to a double using the berth backs, with deep storage both behind the backs and beneath the cushions. Aft of the main cabin lie the head and the galley. To starboard, the head is finished in white Formica trimmed with teak and features a marine toilet with new plumbing, a vanity with sink and counter, a pressurized hot‑and‑cold‑water shower, bronze seacocks, spacious storage lockers, and a handsome teak grate over the sole. The private aft cabin is accessible from the galley or through the head via a separate door, and includes a 6'6" quarterberth to starboard with a large hanging locker, while to port a sit‑down, forward‑facing nav station awaits the skipper. The large walk‑in galley to port is appointed with white Formica countertops edged in teak, a gimballed three‑burner CNG stove with oven, a double stainless‑steel sink with foot pump, hot and cold pressurized water, and a large insulated ice box with Sea Frost refrigeration, all complemented by abundant stowage in cabinets, drawers, and lockers, generous counter space, and Sabre’s built‑in wastebasket.

Navigation and entertainment electronics are comprehensive, including Datamarine wind/speed and depth instrumentation, an Apelco DXL6000 Loran, a Raytheon Raychart 600 with map chips, a Raytheon Raystar 390 GPS, a Raytheon R20X raster‑scan radar, a Horizon Standard VHF, an Autohelm 4000 autopilot, a stereo system with 4 speakers, and a bulkhead‑mounted clock and barometer. Mechanical systems are equally reassuring: shore power for both AC and DC, a battery charger, new batteries, a new macerator pump, a new water heater and pump, and Seafrost Cold Plate Refrigeration that lives up to the owner’s boast of “Coldest Beer on the Lake!”
