Overview

Launched in Norway in 1968–69, this classic Striker Convertible showcases all-welded aluminum craftsmanship. Light and dry, she weighs about 14,000 lb, rising to roughly 20,000 lb when fueled and provisioned for cruising. The hull runs 37 ft (41 ft including the pulpit), with a broad 13 ft 8 in beam and a 32 in draft at rest. Air draft is approximately 12½ ft with the Bimini and antennas folded. True to the marque, she features a flybridge helm complemented by a cockpit control station.

Below, a V-berth sits forward, followed by a lower cabin with upper and lower bunks to starboard; the head is to port just aft of the V. The main salon once housed a starboard inside helm, which was removed in 2003–04 when the helm was relocated to the cockpit; the forward salon windows were also cleanly eliminated at that time. She was repowered then with twin 315 hp Yanmar 6LY-UTE diesels, enhancing efficiency and range. The galley is positioned to starboard. Elegant, purposeful, and seaworthy, this aluminum Motor Yacht/Flybridge Convertible is equally at home as a Sportfishing Yacht or Offshore/Bluewater cruiser—an enduring, twin-diesel classic built to travel and fish with confidence.

Detailed Description

Key features

Thoughtfully outfitted for serious cruising and sport, this vessel features a Guest 2614A dual bank battery charger with 5-amp and 10-amp outputs, a Seachoice dual trumpet horn, and an ONAN 9 kW diesel generator to keep onboard systems humming. Command comes easy through a Hynautic hydraulic steering system and a single helm station, while 24-inch three-blade bronze propellers—plus a second set stored beneath the aft section of the cockpit—deliver dependable thrust. Fuel is polished through Racor fuel filters and carried in two fuel tanks: one 230-gallon and one 70-gallon. Freshwater service is handled by a Shurflo pump feeding an Isotemp 20-liter water heater, with air conditioning for comfort, a Raritan manual pump head and a macerator for reliable sanitation. Shade and versatility come via an upper bimini top designed to fold aft and an aft bimini that can be stowed fully forward for fishing, while a seven cubic foot chest freezer in the cockpit extends provisioning for longer trips. Washdowns are effortless with a Jabsco saltwater pump, bilge safety is assured by forward and central pumps, and two anchors stand ready on the bowsprit.

Superstructure and other modifications

Forward salon windows have been cleanly removed and the opening reimagined with a forward-facing, padded loveseat with storage beneath, creating a quiet, weatherproof vantage point. The interior helm station has been eliminated in favor of a lever-only station added in the portside cockpit, opening up the salon and streamlining control where the action is. A removable aluminum dive platform is secured to the stern and is accessed through a lift-out transom door on the starboard side. A purpose-built SCUBA tank rack fits over the fighting chair pedestal and holds 10 SCUBA cylinders; it can be removed and swapped for a cocktail table or a classic Lee fighting chair, all three to be conveyed with the boat.

Electronics

Communication is comprehensive with two VHF radios positioned on the flybridge and in the main salon, complemented by a dedicated DSC radio. An ICOM portable handheld waterproof VHF charging station is installed in the V-berth, keeping critical handheld comms powered and ready.

Engines

In 2003, Yanmar 6LYA-UTE engines were installed, rated at 315 hp at 3300 rpm. Displacement is 5.2 L (316 cu in). The turbocharger is transversely mounted at the rear, with a 5" exhaust exiting the left rear. The stated overhaul interval is 10,000 hours, with turbo boost at full load of 25 psi. Each engine carries an 80-amp alternator driven by a single v-belt that also powers the water pump. The transmissions were purchased in 2003 together with the new Yanmar diesels.
