Detailed Description
Overview
Purpose-built for offshore passages yet strikingly contemporary, the interior pairs angled bulkheads with hand-rubbed teak to create a sense of openness and quiet luxury without sacrificing a single seagoing essential. Forward, the stateroom offers a double berth to port, with a seat, bureau, and a full hanging locker to starboard; just aft, the enclosed head is equipped with a marine toilet, sink, and shower. In the main cabin, a varnished, bulkhead-mounted table folds down between opposing settees; to port, a fold-down wing expands the pilot berth to full width, while a locker and bookshelves back the starboard settee for orderly stowage at sea.
The galley, shaped in a secure shallow U to starboard at the base of the companionway, is arranged for confident cooking underway with a large, easily accessed, well-insulated icebox, a standard two-burner gimbaled CNG stove with oven, a storage trap, and a deep stainless-steel sink. Outboard and aft, teak-louvered lockers and storage drawers keep provisions and cookware tidy. Opposite to port, a generous navigation station delivers proper working space with drawers, lockers, and dedicated cabinetry for instrumentation, equipment, and charts; the chart table hinges up to reveal aft access to a 5-foot-wide double quarter berth measuring 6'4" in length. Throughout, interior joinery and trim are finished in hand-oiled teak. Ventilation—long a Tartan hallmark—on the T-31 is superb, with 8 aluminum-framed opening portlights, 2 overhead hatches, and 2 stainless-steel Dorades.
Culinary comforts include the two-burner gimbaled CNG stove with oven, a newer Dometic refrigeration/freezer complementing the large icebox, a hot-and-cold pressurized water system, and the deep stainless sink—an efficient, seakindly galley that rewards both passage-making and quiet evenings at anchor. The electronics suite brings practical, proven capability: Data Marine speed, depth, and apparent wind instruments, an Autohelm ST60 autopilot, Garmin GPS, Uniden VHF, Ritchie compass, and a stereo with 4 speakers. Electrical needs are met with a shore power cord and a battery charger.
On deck, ground tackle inspires confidence with a Danforth anchor complete with chain and rode, supplemented by a second 35# CQR. Sailhandling is sure-handed thanks to primary Barient 45 ST two-speed winches, a Barient 33 ST two-speed cabintop winch, a mainsheet winch, and an additional Barient 18 cabintop winch. The ISOMAT double-spreader mast and boom stand ready for breeze, while a bimini and dodger extend comfort and protection in the cockpit.
A well-selected sail inventory drives performance and ease: a new Quantum 150% roller-furling genoa with UV cover, a mainsail with full battens plus two long battens, and a spinnaker in a sock. Harken roller furling, a bimini and new mainsail sail cover, lazy jacks, a boom vang, a spinnaker pole, and associated hardware round out a thoughtful rig, with all lines led aft to the cockpit for safe, efficient control.
Additional equipment underscores readiness and care: a full winter cover, a steel cradle, an Achilles dinghy, a manual bilge pump, a cockpit table, a horseshoe buoy, and a proper complement of dock lines and fenders.
