Overview
With her raised aft pilothouse and cockpit, gleaming mahogany superstructure, sleek white hull, and exquisitely crafted walnut interior, the 80’ Trumpy “cruiser” Annabelle (formerly known as Osceola/Windsong II) epitomizes the classic gentleman’s motor yacht and is arguably one of the most stunning creations from this renowned shipyard. Designed by John Trumpy Sr. and launched in 1955 from the Eastport, MD facility as Rumak III for William and Ruth McKelvey of Pittsburgh, PA, she is a true masterpiece.
Like many Trumpy yachts, Annabelle was crafted for leisurely voyages along the East Coast, from South Florida to New England, and has spent the majority of her impressive 70-year journey doing just that. Accommodating 2-3 crew members and 6 guests, she boasts ample carrying capacity along with modern systems and amenities, making her perfectly suited for the extensive cruising she was designed for.
In the early 2000s, Annabelle underwent a significant refit at the Hinckley yard in Southwest Harbor, where she was re-planked below the waterline, received a comprehensive systems overhaul, and was fitted with a new composite teak deck. In 2006, new Cummins diesel engines were installed. She has been meticulously maintained and updated by the same captain and owner since her refit.
The classic motor yacht experience is best enjoyed in the wheelhouse and aft entertaining cockpit, making these areas a great starting point for discussing Annabelle. The helm station features an expansive varnished mahogany design with modern electronics discreetly integrated for easy access. Overlooking the helm is a spacious elevated settee upholstered in teak and blue leather, complemented by a well-equipped wet bar that includes a sink, fridge, ice maker, and ample storage, all elegantly concealed behind varnished paneling. The entertaining cockpit, located aft of the bar, features a generous U-shaped settee and table, fully enclosable with isinglass panels, providing seating for up to twelve and excellent visibility all around.
Descending a few steps from the wheelhouse leads to the salon, adorned with satin-finished walnut paneling. The main settee, two swivel chairs, and a convertible dining/coffee table are positioned forward to port, while an entertainment console and writing desk are located aft. Access to the galley and crew quarters is conveniently situated forward to starboard, with the owner’s and guest accommodations located aft to port.
Continuing down the companionway from the salon, you will find a twin-berth guest cabin to starboard, complete with an ensuite head featuring a sink and toilet. To port is an over-under twin-berth guest cabin, with a separate guest/day head and shower serving both cabins. These guest quarters are tastefully designed with ample storage, matte-finished walnut berths, cabinetry, and sisal-wrapped bulkheads.
At the very aft is the full-width, symmetrical owner’s cabin with twin single berths, offering generous storage in two large hanging lockers and drawers. The spacious ensuite head, featuring a bathtub, large vanity, heated towel racks, and mirrors, is located forward to starboard. This cabin also has its own private entrance leading up a few steps into the exclusive aft cockpit.
Moving forward from the salon, you will discover the roomy, classically styled yet thoroughly modern galley. It is equipped with a residential-style stove and hood, ample refrigerator, freezer, counter space, and storage. Forward of the galley is the crew area, which includes a private captain’s cabin aft to port, two additional over-under crew berths forward to port, a head and dinette (with a washer-dryer underneath) to starboard, and the shower located at the very front.
A watertight door leads from the galley to the engine room, which is clean, well-lit, and provides excellent access to the twin Cummins QSL9 engines. The engine room also houses the new generator, hydraulics for the stabilizers, air conditioning units, water maker, and lithium-ion house batteries with an inverter for silent operation at anchor.
With her Trumpy styling, modern systems, and elegantly appointed interior by Mimi McMakin of Kemble Interiors, Annabelle is the quintessential classic gentleman’s motor yacht. She serves as an ideal dayboat while also being a well-equipped, self-sufficient coastal cruiser with accommodations for six. Having undergone thorough refits and maintained to the highest standards, she is poised and ready for her next owner.
