Overview

Created as the successor to the original YYachts model, the Y8 emerged from a close collaboration with Surge Projects. The Mallorca-based studio led by Javier Jaudenes is renowned for designs that feel timeless and refined, paired with true expertise in shaping fast, modern sailing yachts.

Compared with the earlier Y8, this new generation features a broader aft section. Together with the mast stepped further back, the architecture unlocks impressive pace and balance. Drawing on extensive R&D distilled from previous projects, Jaudenes calls the Y8 the essence of their experience—quick yet reassuringly composed in all conditions. Above all, she’s designed to put a smile on your face; a genuinely upbeat, confidence-inspiring luxury sailing yacht.

The latest Y8 also carries the innovative standards expected of YYachts: a transverse tender garage in the stern, a self-tacking jib for effortless handling, a dedicated crew companionway from the cockpit, and a sleek, low-profile deckhouse with thoughtfully positioned glazing to minimize heat build-up. Every detail supports easy, elegant cruising without compromising performance.

Inside, volume has grown by around 20 percent over predecessors such as Cool Breeze, Makai, and Vegas Baby, enabling multiple interior arrangements tailored to owner preference. Relocating the engine room beneath the saloon sole lowers the center of gravity, improving stability and translating directly into additional speed. As a performance cruiser and refined cruiser-racer with true bluewater capability, the Y8 blends poise, pace, and comfort—an athletic, contemporary sailing yacht crafted for long-range adventure and rewarding weekend sport alike.

Detailed Description

Description

Created as the successor to the very first YYacht, the Y8 was developed in close partnership with Surge Projects. The Mallorca-based studio led by Javier Jaudenes brings a calm, timeless aesthetic together with deep know-how in shaping genuinely fast sailing yachts, resulting in a luxury sailing yacht that looks refined and sails brilliantly.

Compared with the earlier Y8, the new generation features a broader stern and a mast stepped further aft, a combination that unlocks notable pace and poise. Jaudenes notes that extensive R&D distilled from previous builds has flowed into this design: it is quick yet reassuringly composed in all conditions, lively to helm, and simply enjoyable—a performance cruiser and cruiser-racer with real bluewater ability.

As expected from YYachts, innovation is standard. You get a transverse tender garage in the stern, a self-tacking jib for effortless handling, separate crew access from the cockpit, and a low-profile deckhouse with optimally positioned glazing to minimize heat build-up. Every element supports easy, elegant sailing without sacrificing performance.

Interior volume is approximately twenty percent larger than on predecessors such as Cool Breeze, Makai, and Vegas Baby, creating a wide range of layout options. By positioning the engine room beneath the saloon sole, the center of gravity is lowered for better balance and, in turn, more speed. In the eighty-foot sailing yacht class, the Y8 blends comfort, design, and performance for confident coastal cruising and long-range passages alike.

Features

Electrical systems are ready for extended cruising with a shore power inlet and a generator, while the electronics suite includes a depthsounder, radar, log-speedometer, wind speed and direction instrumentation, a plotter, autopilot, compass, GPS, cockpit speakers, VHF, and AIS—everything you want on a modern bluewater performance cruiser and cruiser-racer.

Comfort on board is ensured by a dishwasher, bow thruster, oven, manual bilge pump, microwave oven, air conditioning, electric head, heating, hot water, refrigerator, fresh water maker, deep freezer, and a battery charger, making the Y8 a truly user-friendly luxury sailing yacht.

Outside, a teak cockpit welcomes you with a cockpit shower, gangway, plush cockpit cushions, a sturdy cockpit table, and a swimming ladder for easy water access. The rig is set up for confident handling with a steering wheel, electric winch, spinnaker pole, and a hydraulic winch—ideal for short-handed sailing without losing performance.

Propulsion

Power comes from a 2025 Yanmar 4LV195 inboard delivering 191 hp, offering efficient thrust, quiet running, and dependable maneuverability under power—ideal for docking, passagemaking, and complementing the sailing performance of this eighty-foot luxury sailing yacht.

Specifications

Dimensions are optimized for pace and stability: length overall is 80 ft, length on deck is 87.17 ft, length at waterline is 72.5 ft, beam is 21.5 ft, and maximum draft is 14.83 ft. Tankage supports serious cruising with 343.42 gal of fresh water, 343.42 gal of fuel, and an 84.53 gal holding tank—practical capacity for a bluewater performance cruiser.

Other details

Accommodations are tailored to each owner. Soft edges, a coach roof, and abundant natural light create a calm interior, and there are numerous options below deck: you can divide forward and aft living areas so that crew cabins, the navigation station, and the galley sit aft—an ideal arrangement for privacy and quiet on a luxury sailing yacht.

Two cockpit solutions, variable headroom, and a fully customizable interior make the Y8 as individual as its future owner. A large dinghy garage with transversal tender stowage—a YYachts hallmark—pairs with modern systems so a couple or very small crew can manage the boat with ease. In the eighty-foot class, the Y8 is among the most customizable sailing yachts, blending speed, design, comfort, and ease of use for both cruiser-racer fun and bluewater passages.
