Overview

Van der Valk Shipyard is an acclaimed Dutch builder based in Waalwijk, about an hour south of Amsterdam. This boutique yard creates fully bespoke, ultra‑premium luxury motor yachts for the most discerning owners, blending meticulous design, craftsmanship, and engineering. Their superyacht‑grade builds are among the finest afloat, and it’s uncommon to find a yacht of this caliber—especially in this size class—available in U.S. waters.

GyrFalcon has had only two owners since her 2016 launch, following a custom commission in 2013. The current owners acquired her in 2019 and returned to the Van der Valk facility for significant upgrades, including new zero‑speed fin stabilizers and a redesigned flybridge that serves as the ultimate open‑air entertainment deck. With a custom bar and seamless single‑level layout, this flybridge motor yacht is perfect for hosting gatherings. The spacious aft deck features generous seating with sweeping views and a substantial alfresco dining area. Forward, a beautifully arranged bow lounge offers a more intimate retreat—an ideal setting to unwind and watch the sun slip below the horizon. Guest accommodations are superb, complemented by an excellent crew area. Conceived as an off‑grid explorer, this bluewater cruising yacht provides generous staterooms and the comfort needed for extended voyages.

Lovingly maintained and continuously upgraded, she now awaits her next fortunate owner to continue her story. All systems are current and she is fully cruise‑ready. The only question is, where will you take her next? Please allow 24 hours’ notice for showings.

Detailed Description

Yacht details

Command, comfort, and capability converge in a meticulously specified, Dutch‑built yacht whose options suite reads like a captain’s wish list: DPS Dynamic Positioning System; two docking stations with IPS joysticks flanking the cockpit; Humphree zero‑speed fin stabilizers added in 2020; a Sea Recovery Aquamatic 1800‑2 watermaker producing 284 L/hour; an Opacmare boxed hydraulic gangway; a comprehensively upgraded wheelhouse with three 19” glassbridge monitors and a maritime PC; a FLIR dual‑mode night‑vision camera (infrared and low light); an FLS 3D forward‑looking echo sounder; a soft‑top bimini on the flybridge; an architectural wing‑style mast on the fly; an upgraded music system; one additional Opacmare Sedile electric helm chair; two side‑opening wheelhouse windows; a side door in the wheelhouse; an upgraded propulsion package to three IPS‑1050 pods; a Side‑Power electric bow thruster delivering 26.4 HP; upgraded twin 26 kW gensets; and an interior penned by Guido de Groot.

The propulsion and steering suite centers on three Volvo Penta IPS 1050 EVC‑EC units, complemented by a Hydrosta electric/hydraulic trim‑tab system, the full Volvo Penta IPS‑II drive system with hydraulic/electric steering, Volvo EVC electronic engine controls, and a 7” full‑color digital Volvo Penta motor management display that keeps every parameter precisely in view.

Outside, a full top‑quality aluminum hull and superstructure in certified AlMg4.5Mn (H321/H111) wears a high‑grade two‑component Alexseal paint system, professionally repainted in 2020. Teak flows a luxurious 15 mm thick across decks, stairs, swim platform, and flybridge. The foredeck is a private Portuguese‑bridge lounge with sofa, table, and sunpad. Stainless steel (316) detailing abounds: half‑round hull strakes; exhaust surrounds; an oval, luxury‑profile railing; capping on bulwarks; signature design features aft on both quarters; and robust handrails. Mooring hardware is equally substantial with eight 316 bollards (arranged four by two fore and aft) plus three by two midship clamps, two additional 316 bollards on the swim platform, and a 316 side stepladder that doubles as a swim ladder. Fender storage is integrated into the superstructure. The flybridge has been redesigned with new seating and a convivial wet bar beneath an electric/hydraulic wing‑design mast. Wheelhouse doors combine stainless steel and teak with double‑glazed security glass, while all windows are grey‑tinted, double‑glazed, and hardened. 316 portholes include fly‑screens. Access to the swim platform is secured by aluminum doors, with teak steps on all exterior stairs inlaid with LED lighting. Teak tables set the scene for alfresco dining. Exterior upholstery, including fillers and covers, was renewed in 2020, and a large automatic entrance/service hatch on the swim platform leads to the engine room.

Inside, the entire ship is thermally insulated with Rockwool. The interior is 100% custom‑built to client specification—choice of woods and joinery style, fully spray‑painted finishes, and a high‑quality solid timber framework—paired with luxury soft furnishings. Practicality is woven in with planned escape routes, complete bathrooms per cabin (bath/shower, washbasin, storage per the owner’s wishes), and stainless steel (316) handrails where desired.

The flybridge invites open‑air living with helm seats, generous sofas, a teak table, a full bar with refrigerator and washbasin, and an electric grill; the windscreen is framed in 316 stainless steel, sound is powered by a 2020 JL Audio system, and a protective hatch covers the companionway. Tender operations are effortless thanks to a Steelhead ES1000 hydraulic crane rated to 450 kg.

Ship’s systems are engineered for safety and serenity: an automatic aerosol X‑FIRE marine fire‑extinguishing system (one unit in the engine room and one beneath the helm) augmented by CO2 handhelds to current classification; a professionally lined engine room with high‑grade acoustic insulation and additional Delta DB sound‑ and vibration‑damping coating; robust engine room ventilation; shower cabins with security glass doors; premium Hansgrohe sanitaryware; one high‑quality Opacmare Sedile electric steering chair; elegant wooden floors in galley and bathrooms; and a document safe in the master suite.

Deck equipment includes a Jabsco double‑halogen searchlight, a Kahlenberg D‑AO dual‑trumpet air horn, three Speich double‑arm wipers with adjustable intervals and washers, and a loudhailer. Ground tackle is serious: a MUIR VRC4000 24 V / 2000 W windlass handling a 100 kg stainless steel Pool anchor on 80 m of 13 mm stainless chain and an anchor roller, with deck and anchor wash connections close at hand, and a hot/cold shower on the swim platform.

Climate control is comprehensive: a Marvair fully auto‑reverse tropical air‑conditioning plant delivering 108,000 BTU via engine‑room chillers with independent zone control, plus whole‑ship floor heating—each cabin and area individually regulated—driven by a Kabola B75‑combi diesel boiler providing both heating and domestic hot water, with a new circulation pump installed in 2020.

Fuel is polished and protected by twin Volvo Penta 877770 diesel filters per engine, Volvo Lucas filtration for the Kabola and gensets, Algae‑X magnetic fuel conditioners to combat diesel bacteria, and a Jabsco transfer pump between the two fuel tanks. Fresh water is stored in PE tanks and delivered by a Gianesshi JET 4B C.E. pressure system with a back‑up pump; the drinking water disinfection system was updated in 2020. Waste is managed via a PE black/grey tank with level monitoring, Planus electric toilets/bidets, a Gianesshi WASTE PUMP MV 44G 24 V rated at 50 L/min with a back‑up pump, and Planus Aqualift shower sumps. Bilge security is ensured by four Jabsco 3500 pumps (14,000 L/hour each) plus a Jabsco Ocean Warrior manual pump. Everyday convenience extends to a Beam Centraal 220 V central vacuum and a Kolibri 8 ATU air compressor.

The galley is comprehensively equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, a wine fridge, a ceramic/induction cooktop, an extractor, a washing machine and separate dryer, a dishwasher, a combi oven, and a Qooker instant boiling‑water tap.

An iPad‑compatible vessel monitoring system underpins effortless control with electronic fuses and membrane dashboard panels; programmable interior and exterior lighting scenes; navigation light switching and oversight; bilge and grey‑water pump control with alarms; fresh‑water pump switching; wiper control; tank gauging; built‑in GSM for remote access; advanced lighting with full‑channel dimming; local monitoring via iPad/iPhone/PC/laptop; and intuitive operation with manual override.

Electrical generation and storage are equally robust: a sound‑damped Northern Lights 26 kW 1500 rpm 400 V AC three‑phase generator; a 24 V 1000 Ah service bank built from 2 V cells; three 24 V 160 Ah AGM batteries for the main engines; and two 12 V 90 Ah AGM batteries for the gensets. Charging is via a Mastervolt 24 V/200 A service charger, a Mastervolt 24 V/60 A engine‑battery charger, and two Mastervolt 12 V/10 A genset chargers, with a 5 kW 24/230 V inverter providing silent ship power. Shoreside connectivity includes a 400 V/32 A inlet with isolation transformer and a separate 230 V/32 A inlet dedicated to chargers (with its own isolation transformer) for marinas without 400 V.

Protection against stray currents is afforded by an earth‑fault measuring system with alarm to warn of electrically polluted environments. The 24 V switchgear is professionally laid out: a main engine‑room board with double‑pole fusing and engine‑security switching where required, earth‑fault monitoring, and a 24 V DC indication and monitoring panel at the helm.

Lighting is refined and resilient: Cantalupi halogen downlights with dimmers in salon, dinette, galley, and all cabins; dedicated night‑navigation lighting in the wheelhouse; thoughtfully placed indirect lighting; technical spaces fitted with 230 V “TL” fixtures plus 24 V task lighting; dimmable deck lights over side and aft decks; LED foot‑lighting around the main decks and flybridge; LED‑lit stair treads; a central Domotica controller; and fully waterproof exterior luminaires. Navigation lights are specified for yachts up to 50 meters, complemented by a Jabsco double‑halogen searchlight.

Entertainment is immersive and multi‑zone: a KVH M7 satellite TV dome; a Marantz SR70089.2 network home‑theater receiver with AirPlay in the salon feeding two speaker outputs in the salon, two on the aft deck, and two on the sundeck; three Sonos CONNECT streamers; a Marantz UD50073D universal Blu‑ray player with networking; Bowers & Wilkins CM8 salon speakers augmented by an ASW610XP subwoofer; Bowers & Wilkins AM1 speakers on the aft deck; and a 2020 JL Audio system on the flybridge. The master and VIP each feature a Samsung LED TV with integrated satellite receiver and a Bose advanced 2.1‑channel home‑theater system with iPod functionality; guest cabins have a Samsung LED TV with integrated satellite receiver and a car‑style stereo with DVD and iPod connection. A computer system and an onboard UMTS Wi‑Fi system keep you connected. Security is handled by a professional alarm with certified GPS tracker and intrusion detection. At the wheelhouse, a Volvo Penta Professional Marine Autopilot system is paired with two powerful NSO processors, a Simrad Di15 15” monitor, an OP40 wired remote, a Simrad TX06s 6 kW 4 ft open‑array radar, AIS NAIS 300 Class B black box, VHF and GPS aerials, two Simrad RS87 DVHF radio systems with full Class D DSC, individual speaker volume control, SimNet integration for your GPS chartplotter, the ability to add stations, hailer/fog horn or individual intercom speakers, two VHF aerials, two digital multifunction 7” displays, and the requisite sensors. On the flybridge, navigation mirrors the helm with a Simrad AP70 professional autopilot, an NSO DI15 15” slave monitor linked to the wheelhouse nav computer, an OP40 wired remote, a Simrad RS87 DVHF, a digital multifunction 7” display, and four cameras for total situational awareness: engine room, aft view, port side, and starboard side.

Notable features

A pedigree premium Dutch build underpins stellar seakeeping and long‑range poise, further elevated by Humphree ZERO‑speed stabilizers, a full top‑quality aluminum hull and superstructure in certified AlMg4.5Mn (H321/H111), and a Volvo IPS power package that optimizes interior volume while delivering outstanding fuel economy. The suite includes DPS Dynamic Positioning, a hydraulic bow thruster, CE‑A Ocean certification, two docking stations with IPS joysticks set port and starboard in the cockpit, two generators rated at 26 kW each, four staterooms plus a large crew area, a day head, and a hydraulic swim platform replaced in 2020. The expansive flybridge was comprehensively updated in 2020 and pairs with a forward lounge featuring sun coverage and a table.

Craftsmanship is top‑shelf and obvious in every joint, finish, and detail. Blue‑water autonomy comes from the Sea Recovery Aquamatic 1800‑2 watermaker at 284 L/hour, an Opacmare hydraulic gangway, and heated floors throughout. The wheelhouse navigation was upgraded to three 19” glass‑bridge monitors with a maritime PC, complemented by a FLIR dual‑mode night‑vision camera and an FLS 3D forward‑looking echo sounder. The flybridge carries an architectural arch‑design mast. At the helm, there is one additional Opacmare Sedile electric chair, plus two opening side windows and one side door in the wheelhouse. Propulsion was upgraded to three IPS‑1050 pods, while an electric Side‑Power bow thruster delivers 26.4 HP. Electrical reserves were boosted by upgrading a 5 kW genset to a 26 kW unit. Inside, the layout and styling are by Guido de Groot.

Updates - 2020 at the Van der Valk Shipyard

A comprehensive yard period in 2020 delivered major refinements: a new Humphree electric zero‑speed stabilizing system; a full repaint of the hull in a silver/grey metallic livery; a ceramic coating across the vessel; and a new Opacmare hydraulic platform rated to 1000 kg. Shade and comfort were elevated with a new TUUCI Ocean Master Classic 8.5’ umbrella and a removable cradle on the flybridge for a SeaDoo Spark 2. Underfoot and inside, the saloon carpet (JAB quality) was replaced over sixteen square meters, and a salon wall upholstery refresh completed the look. The flybridge was upgraded and redesigned with a bar, stools, loungers, and renewed teak, while the sound system on the flybridge was upgraded for richer audio. Connectivity now includes Wi‑Fi via a 4G LTE router and three Ruckus ZoneFlex R510 access points, plus a new KVH V3‑HTS VSAT system. Custom cabinetry was added, an Isotherm IceDrink Clear ice maker installed, new TVs fitted throughout, new exterior cushions with fresh upholstery and fill material introduced, and all exterior cushion covers renewed. The master stateroom received new wall upholstery, and the saloon carpet was again refreshed to match the elevated décor. Potable water quality was enhanced with a new in‑line octo multi‑stage filtration system. Safety gear was comprehensively renewed, with an extensive inventory that includes survival suits and an O2 kit. Finally, a 25 kW universal shore power converter was added for global marina compatibility.

Upgrades in 2022

In 2022, the yacht benefited from a full bottom job, comprehensive servicing of the IPS pods and propellers, and complete maintenance of the stabilizer fins—returning the underwater body and running gear to peak efficiency and reliability.
